Gumdrop is really a professional con artist, he probably thinks "they will wait anyway because if they decide to pull out on patreon, I will not release the game". This dude made his game like a hostage. The dude wasted me some money, should have used it to hire a nearby streetwalker here. Most of his patrons just probably forgot to pull out. Anyway my 1 year worth of support to this guy should be worth it once he released the part X.

Dissclaimer: I never was his patron, I am not and I never will be.

I don't dispute your opinion (or that its actual fact considering time and Gumdrop behaviour etc.). I just cherish in deep heart hope that one day he finish up.
Its fool errand, sure, but Dual Family concept - playing as two characters intervined in the story - is very unique. So maybe someone else could pick on this, finish Dual Family mod or create something new on the same level....

I mean, even Irredeemable still ilks by with like 60 or so Patreons. I don't know who or how or why. I don't ever seeing any one dropping to his level, the guy just flat out disappeared after all.

It's too bad the guy stoop so low for money. I genuinely love his game and decided to support him but he let me down. The story is good with good character development and he took advantage of it because many got interested in his work.

I wouldn't really put forward DC as a shinning beacon of example though. Seeing what he is pulling and what the supporters get back. On the other side, most creators most likely feel they want to earn more.

tbh, I wouldn't want to support DC any more than I would GD at this stage. There is other creators out there that need the encouragement more.

I don't support DC, I just compared GD to him because DC is earning around $50000 per month on patreon but TBH Summertime Saga is just a mediocre game (my personal opinion). I find GD's Dual Family more appealing but man I hate how he handles his current project. I know he has plans of releasing this game but he is stalling it for more money. I feel like he's doing it like this:

Part X is already done but not released yet.
Part XI is in development and will release Part X once part XI is done.
