Hi there!
While I dislike the developer with a passion for reasons stated already in earlier posts, I can understand why gumdrop keeps this frustrating schedule. He found some patrons he can milk with abandon, keeping them pacified with some handy CE pinups. Cheap money ahoy!
It is one of the mysteries of the net, why gumdrop keeps being successful with his little scheme. For comparison, Eva Kiss makes a really great game "Good Girl gone Bad", which despite high quality content and regular updates gets less money. Granted, she has less render time since the artwork is partly drawn, but that has to be done too (besides in gumdrop´s case, I am sure render time is least of his "problems") and storywise she wins hands down!
Her game is one of the few on this site with obvious different storylines to pursue. There are three main storylines, good MC, bad MC and MC hovering at middle ground which have significantly different events and outcomes. And there is a lot of variation in the main branches as well, depending on which events you focus. You have to raise your hat in praise for the varied storyline, that is simply wow for a "hobby developer"!
Now back to Dual Family: I like this game for the artwork and the potential of the storyline, but I am really pissed with the artificially lengthened rythem of updates. As said, I understand why gumdrop does it, but this is not responsible behaviour. He boasted often about how the game comes first and his new park of render-focused hardware, but he updates a lot slower than most games with comparable render load and quality. So his promises are not worth the paper they are written on. Personally I think Part 10 is already finished, but kept back until the grumbling of the patreons reaches a certain level.
