Indeed. I always find it funny how Makura acts so surprised at the backlash he gets for the forced NTR of certain heroines despite his games being well known for NTR. And that's really because he does write such interesting characters.Nailed it on the head. Too much game, not enough H in this H-Game.
Makura makes well designed and well written characters, all with their own desires and backstories. To basically remove that entire aspect and give us 5 very basic personalities who we pick a hair color for was a choice I was against from day 1 as I felt it would result in bland girls who I don't care for. And that was exactly the result.
The reason I was fine with 3x 2 hour long prologues for each of the main girls in the 3 starting routes for Leane 2 was because each one fleshed out the girls, their nations and the world as a whole. We learned how the nations interact, who the enemies were and the lore of the setting.
In Bride I don't know what country we're in, if there are other nations or how they all interact. There's a queen, but of what? The entire map? Just Sapphire City? A 6 year wait for a less game.
Combine that with the lengthy prologue setup and heavy game mechanics and people won't appreciate any auto loss material. In the case of DnB though it's all the worse since the two auto NTR characters are the only actual unique heroines he bothered to make this time.
As you said, I feel nothing for generic custom template fodder characters. Which is a shame cause I find the NTR mechanics of the duels and the inn rather interesting. Would've been a lot better if he'd at least a full party of unique characters and left the custom looks to the temp npcs.
