3 stars is low for OK? No, 3 stars is OK/Mid/Average. I'm not using IGN metrics here. How the fuck is 3 stars 2.5 lol? What, because 5/2 = 2.5? There are 5 numbers here man, the point is it's a number in the middle and that's what I rate this game as - Mid. What you download or not and how is your problem, personally I can give a chance to a badly rated game if it has some unique qualities that I find interesting.
Regarding that it's better than majority of hentai games... I agree! Overall hentai games catalog is a septic tank of abandonware, samey VNs, RPGM shovelware, bug-ridden 3D abominations and low effort garbage in general. Good games are not even half of it. But I'm not comparing it to them, I'm comparing it to the original. And overall I had more of a good time in the original and would rate it 4/5, aka Good.
And user ratings on various games... that's all just personal shit. Like this game has a few 2/5 ratings. I disagree, but that's their honest thoughts about this game, whatever.

If you think the game is mid and forgettable then rate 3 yes. However you played the game til the end -which is quite impressive given how long it is, I definitely didn't myself- then wrote a long review and followed the dev, so presumably, you would recommend other people at least to try it, but 3 on f95 means "you should skip this". The reason I am nitpicky about it is because you will presumably write other reviews, so you might not be aware that people use search / filter out games by rating, but then these tools miss gems like this one because even the people who actually enjoyed it rated it 3-4 and so it's basically impossible to find it with search tools. Just look at the games published this week there are already 10 rated 4 stars or more (half of them are RPGM games) and in reality I doubt even a single one is as good as this game.

To give you an idea, I just wasted 30 min of my life playing this piece of crap which is probably in the top5 worst games I've ever played and it's rated 3.5 / 5 (probably an accident as all other games from this dev are rated 1 star). It's a gross, tedious and erratic puzzle game, impossible to do without walkthrough, randomly kills you and deletes all your progression, has almost no sex scenes, has gross toilet and pee fetish, I encourage you to try it just to see how unbelievably bad it is (even the reviews say it's bad) and yet you can see they still rated more than 3 so when I use search tools it actually comes higher than this thread.

I do think it's mid overall, but still recommended to try it. Forgettable? Eh, don't think so? I'll remember Goblin Den, that's for sure. So you didn't finish the game completely. Which is perfectly fine, but do you think you would still give it 5/5 if you experienced the whole post game? I mean maybe you would, but not me and that's the point. Why is 3/5 considered skippable? What, is there a written rule about it I can read somewhere? You're basically telling me to give games like this 4/5 or even 5/5 in order to improve their overall rating, so that they will show up in search because users here (allegedly) skip games with rating 3 or less. Well, one, that would be dishonest with my own thoughts on the game, so not happening. And two, I read review rules before posting, that would be a violation of rule 8.
And honestly, you do you, but I wouldn't put THAT much stock in user ratings. You've seen yourself that they can be all over the place. I just tried to sort games catalog by rating. Ok, a large chunk of games have no ratings at all. Are they good? Are they bad? No idea. Then there are games that have various ratings, but if you open them you'll see that there's just 1 review. Not a good sample size, you might heavily disagree with the reviewer. In hentai communities there are also fetish wars, I don't know if it is happening on here, but I've seen it elsewhere. Users would shit on fine games with fetishes they hate and praise bad games with fetishes they like. Me, I just search by tags, engines and stuff. If screenshots look appealing I learn more about the game and then look at reviews. But that's me, you do you.

Basically when you search for new games to play you can go to "Latest Updates" at the top of the page, type a few tags and sort by rating, I assume most f95 users do this too. The problem is, even after you filter out tons of tags, there remain still 1000s of games, and rating is what will separate them, and if a game is rated 3 it will not be displayed until page 20 or so, so effectively nobody will find it. That is really all my reasoning for rating 4-5 if you like a game here. If it was a different website like Steam or IGN I would probably rate different. The main issue is that on f95zone very few people review games so there are a lot of games rated 3-4 by luck just because only 2-3 people bothered to review it and they happened to all like it. You are correct that the content of the review matters more than star count, the problem is games are still sorted by stars first, so if a game is rated 3 then nobody will ever have the chance to read your review at all, because they won't find the game in the first place. Imo it is totally fine to rate 5 then list a long list of issues, that's a helpful review. As for rule 8, it only says you shouldn't artificially inflate/deflate your own rating based on the current rating (so it is fine to rate all games that you like 5 because you'd do it regardless of the other reviews).
