Seems like it's possible for Peter at least; there's a couple of dialogue options that seem let the MC pick whether they want to top or switch at least.
Maybe try being a dev before making assumptions about something you know nothing about.

I was surprised but also incredibly pleased that a male character can flirt and interact with someone of the same sex. Even if it was only with one person. Those who want to can do so, and those who aren't interested in this relationships don't have to. I like that. I think that and many other little things make the game special. And of course the art style is really beautiful to look at. The devs are doing a good job and at their own pace which benefits the quality (and yes I hope Peter's story isn't over yet xD)
Yea, I want that there is like affection thingy where some Male or Female Characters is into you despite being the same sex. Also some Characters where they would "I like you as friend but..." some character you will need to really get their affection really high to even date em or they are into you but would dismiss being a "Bottom" Peter would be likely be a verse but it would take really really hard tasks to ask him to be a bottom or Trent being pure top there is a risk he will hate you if you ask him to bottom. Same ways with the Female Characters. So its like an inkling, depending on the Character if they would go that path but it would be interesting if Trent "I am sorry bro, I'm pure top." Some of the paths would be close if you force him to be bottom and he would permanently become just friend you can reconcile but it will never happen again.

If you saw Trent kissing a girl or they dating a "scene" may it be Male or Female, you will have choices like to continue seeing him (with sex) but with consequences like your friend Peter hating you (no more sex with me bro) things like that.
Side chick, Side bro, Betrayals, Open relationships, secrets...stuff like that.

We're getting close to our very first Character Update Poll, where you will decide who gets featured in our first Character Update! So before all Patreon supporters begin voting on Friday, we wanted to share a bit about what you can expect from each character's storyline!
Below you will find a collection of images for each character you will be able to vote for in Friday's poll. In these images, you will find:
Voting Begins Friday, Nov 21st!
This poll is your chance to directly influence the direction of the game! From the start, we wanted to give our supporters a genuine role in shaping Edgefield, and this vote is one of the most important ways you can do that.
That being said, we are making adjustments to the weighted voting system so that influence is more fairly distributed across the higher tiers.
Here’s what the new Weighted Voting System looks like:
➡ Freshman Tier - Voting Power x3
➡ Sophomore Tier - Voting Power x10
➡ Junior Tier - Voting Power x20
➡ Senior Tier - Voting Power x50
What's Next?
Once the poll concludes and we announce the winner, Dr. Bird will begin writing the script! At the same time, Gopher and Kicks will continue development on the Dating App Update, which is scheduled to release before the first Character Update.

If you have the quest to get your photos printed, go to the building where the cafeteria is, and click on the double doors. In the hallway the door to the right, closest to you is a photo lab (accessible in the evenings). On the wall of the photo lab there are instructions on how to process your photos.
