It was in the 'roadmap' for the month of January, but given that it's already April and we haven't had any news about it, I feel like we aren't getting it any time soon, which is the main reason I still haven't actually played this game yet beyond the first map.Does anyone know if there is ever going to be a save system
Ya well I wasn't expecting my professional life, and job sector to fall apart. I thought I was walking sideways into a relatively easy job. Then this month I wasn't expecting a tree to fall on my house and to be without power for over a week. Revised roadmap soon.It was in the 'roadmap' for the month of January, but given that it's already April and we haven't had any news about it, I feel like we aren't getting it any time soon, which is the main reason I still haven't actually played this game yet beyond the first map.
Oooooooooof, sorry to hear about all that shit boss, when it rains it definetly pours. Glad the game isnt abandoned at least.Ya well I wasn't expecting my professional life, and job sector to fall apart. I thought I was walking sideways into a relatively easy job. Then this month I wasn't expecting a tree to fall on my house and to be without power for over a week. Revised roadmap soon.
HEY GUYS. I have really allowed this, the main thread, to fester. I intend to start addressing the constructive criticism and your bugs and questions shortly.
In the meantime I wanted to reengage by sharing some behind-the-scene's process with you all. Since I haven't had access to my main computer, or the net, for a few days, I just started working on random new shit in EGGOMON, since AESPRITE is fine on my laptop. I was modelling and then creating the next 2 scouts that will come out this year: TESLA and ARIEL. This is more visual, and it won't be me just spoiling all the WRITING I have also done on the quest introducing the bad guys.
So TESLA, the electric scout. I started with two primary points of interest. Firstly I knew that ELESA is my favorite electric type character, and secondly I wanted a black character (explicitly black since Norma and Roxy are more cinnamon) to further flesh out the roster. Black character with electric powers? It just happens naturally I guess.
I start trying to tease out a character by generating images of them, and then refining those images. I started by thinking I wanted to include all the bright electric colors (blue green and yellow) contrasted with a black bodysuit. Of course I wanted TESLA to have a poofy jacket like ELESA as well. Tesla AND Ariel are going to be taller and slimmer than the other scouts.

Working with pixels is very... Limiting so a lot of what I might LIKE to include gets optioned out quickly. Simplicity is key. Also she has to fit as one of the heroic SCOUTS, so her body suit became white. Then I started manipulating the pose. I generated, maybe 50 images total? Before I was satisfied. Frankenstein elements I liked, and sometimes use a 3D mannequin to outline a pose I am favoring.
One of the images had an inner thigh window I just HAD to include. I liked the leaned back head (8th image there), the walking forward seemed cool, partnered with the obvious interaction she has to stage right by POINTING. It's as if she's casually commanding an electric type to vaporize an opponent.
I also played a lot of a specific artists music while I work on a character or monster to try and feel out a character as it shapes.

This is the artist I listened too while making Tesla.
With that said, making art is just a compromise between your imagination, and the limited time + talent + patience you have.
View attachment 4723910 While this isn't Tesla's final form, variants and voting will have to occur, I am happy with how this finished prototype turned out.

Here's Ariel as well, though I am NOT feeling the flight helmet. She'll need variants without the full mask / helm, when its her turn.
I posted the tree on patreon. I got off just as about as scot free as anyone can expect too when a tree falls on their house, it was just sort of laying there, and is now cut up and the roof isn't caved or punctured anywhere.Oooooooooof, sorry to hear about all that shit boss, when it rains it definetly pours. F. Has to be the most unfortunate streak of bad luck I heard about in a while. Hope it gets better for you.Ya well I wasn't expecting my professional life, and job sector to fall apart. No I won't be doing that. Nothing stopping literally anyone from making one and posting it somewhere though. Are there plans for a dev mode or something/gallery?
pretty simplistic if you rub your last 4 braincells together for a solid 5 minutes imowhat the fuck are these controls
Hey, glad you are finally back, well I'm not glad that any of that shit happened to you, but we'll yknow what I mean.Ya well I wasn't expecting my professional life, and job sector to fall apart. So, TESLA the electric scout. I started with two primary guidelines. Firstly, I knew that ELESA has my favorite design for an electric type character, and secondly I wanted a black character (explicitly black since Norma and Roxy are more cinnamon). I like diversity in EGGOMON because it makes the roster more visually appealing. But a black character with electric powers? I guess I am inclusive enough to represent everyone, but too lazy to dodge a stereotype.

Working with pixels is very limiting, a lot of what I might LIKE to include gets cut out quickly. Simplicity is the master of pixel art. Picking when to include bold outlines and employ subtle shading is also key. Ultimately Tesla she had to fit in with her peers as part of a team, so her body suit became white, naturally the jacket became jet black to contrast this. Then the color pallet collapsed into a simplistic black / yellow / white. Once I am fairly happy with the look of a gen, I start manipulating the pose. By the time I had enough workable material, I had generated upwards of 50 images.
To make the character I usually Frankenstein elements I enjoy from existing art and or gens, and sometimes use a 3D mannequin to outline a pose I am favoring. One of the images had an inner thigh window I just HAD to include. I also liked the leaned back head (8th image there). Having her walking forward (towards the camera) seemed cool, and this partnered with the POINTING maintained the interaction she had to have with an opposing visual element. It's as if she's casually commanding an electric type to thunder-shock an opponent.
I usually pick a music artist while I work on a character or monster to help try and feel out that character as it shapes.

With that said, making art is a horrible compromise between your imagination, and the limited time + talent + resources + patience you have. It will never be as good as what you envisioned.

Nah he's right, the control scheme could use a lot of improvementpretty simplistic if you rub your last 4 braincells together for a solid 5 minutes imo
This. The controls are really unintuitive. Sometimes you need to press up or down to move left and right in menus. I don't know why the select and back buttons are something as non-standard as R an F when people are used to E or Enter. Then the fact that you need to click things in the supply menu, when mouse isn't really used for anything else baffles me.Nah he's right, the control scheme could use a lot of improvement
am I understanding this correctly, that you use image generating software to brainstorm concepts, and reference images? I always thought if image generation software had a place in art thats where it should be. Have you considered putting some of your references in a digital illustration program that has a pixelate filter to see how the concept art translate into lower resolutions? You could use something free like Krita to do that. I've heard some pixel art artists actually do all their illustrating as a high res image under a pixelation filter. Theres certain benefits to doing it this way and you can always do some touch ups pixel by pixel if you need to.Ya well I wasn't expecting my professional life, and job sector to fall apart. I thought I was walking sideways into a relatively easy job. Then this month I wasn't expecting a tree to fall on my house and to be without power for over a week. Revised roadmap soon.

I really like this attitude. Going with themed elections means that it won't just be "most traditionally beautiful" all the time. Good on you for that.Q: I don't like that the election this month is between two chubby / tall slim / shorstack / monstergirls. I don't like the election this week is between more feral looking monsters. I don't like that the election this week is between monster-men... Make them all female bimbo models please.
A: I would like that, but it's boring. If I put up elections between a chubby monster design and a more traditionally beautiful one the traditionally beautiful one will win out 90% of the time. As it STANDS, MOST monster elections will be for monster-girls. I am going to keep the designs diverse, and often inspired by mythology, or um, TRADITIONAL monster catching tropes.
Please ask whatever questions you may have in the comments, or on the games F95 Zone page. I will answer as best and often as I can. I will also save the best questions and repost them as part of future Q+A updates.
aye, it's pretty simple, the problem is that it's awkward as hellpretty simplistic if you rub your last 4 braincells together for a solid 5 minutes imo
hi, really like your game. Sadly it get's laggier the longer you play it. Also i don't understand how to use supply points.April 2025 Update
Its the first update of April! I say the first, because it comes before what will likely be a buggy first release of NAMING and SAVING our monsters, so they can persist between runs. Yes that is still coming.

Moondog is in the game. Moonpup, the unevolved version is also in the game. God, animating tentacles. Why do I do this to myself? Also the ELECEEL shiny variants you voted for are in the game!
View attachment 4738395
Firefox is in the game! So is her unevolved form; Foxii. The winning AITHON shiny variants are in the game now too! Both Firefox and Moondog are hiding in the grasses in Rosedew Meadow... But I think a new tradition for new monsters, is that you can start with the baby version in your party already!
DOT is NOT in the game yet. She will be added in due time, but here she is, the winning red-white variant! I liked this one the least when we were voting but have come around to it, since the white under shirt feels very scout-centric. Keep bug reports coming please, I am checking to solve the egg-hatching bug yet again.
