I just took a look inside and it's indeed just a dumb mistake.
It's around line 6009 of 004_global.js, in the extractSaveContents function (which is responsible for loading the save data).
The researches are set by a for loop, which starts at 1 instead of 0, skipping the negotiation skill in slot 0 (so it's not set and stay at 0 when you load a save file).

Sweet! Many thanks. You literally just did my job for me. Will fix it right now:)
I just wanted to make a patch but now I'm starting to think I may have to add some sort of readme listing out the people who contributed to this:cool:

You're welcome. I'm sure you have better things to do than to debug it and I happen to have the skills to do such things, so it was no troubles, don't worry. I was planning to replay this game anyway, so it was also for my own convenience.

Yeah! Then again that's how I've been feeling about this for the past 4 months. I'm sure something will pop up again. Like notebook with my translation stuff crashing (again) or me not saving stuff and losing like 3 weeks of progress (again) or something else... Just kidding (I hope)

Getting the same error message as that other user, sometimes it's the balloon.png sometimes it's shadow1.png that's missing.

How I added your translation:
Downloaded the game off of Fanza,
downloaded main link for your translation
extracted the game to a folder
dragged your www folder into the main game folder
hit replace all
opened game.exe
game says "Loading..."
then the missing .png notice comes up

was this the correct way of adding the translations, or did I do something wrong?
I also used some other versions of the game I got off some other websites for free, but I assumed those were old versions that wouldn't work with any new replacement files.

I waited for millenia, but saw no TL to come save us. So I decided to act on my own!
I gathered all the translated bits from this thread (1, 2 and this fix), merged them, fixed some bugs, added word wrap + fast-forward (pgdown button) plugin... and got something playable(?).

I haven't done extensive testing, just made one run and got true end (full demonization). Saw like 2-3 untranslated words and no crashes. So I guess it's ok.

The link:

p.s. the fact that the game runs in real-time and forces to act quick kinda sucks, tbh

Your timing is perfect, thank you. I was in the mood to play one of this circle's Succubus games again since they just released a new non-succubus game.

While your version does translate a ton of new things that the one I had downloaded did not, I am noticing a few things that also got de-translated like this: 1749296719797.png
Was this deliberate, or is it cool if I just re-translate these sections?

It wasn't deliberate. I guess I messed up somewhere while merging CSanders' translation with the files Jooop posted here.
I do not own anything and the upload is provided as is. You are free to do whatever you want :)

Alright, here you go:

For those who see this later, this is meant to be patched into the version of the game that notamuted posted.

There was actually not that much that got de-translated, but I fixed the stuff that did. There are a ton of translation DIFFERENCES between the two files, but I'm not gonna worry about that since I'm sure both versions have their own pros and cons.
That being said, I'll gladly take the version that has more things that are actually translated. Thanks again!

EDIT: I translated a few of the images. Most of them were already translated, thanks to other people. Updated the attached file.

Man, this MTL is rough... I'm seeing a TON of grammatical errors and confusing sentences. I was initially planning on manually fixing them as I go, but I'm literally seeing problems on almost every single message box... ;_;
It would be nice if we could get a more modern AI translation of this game, at least as a baseline.

And there is a ton of such text. No wonder the translators abandoned this game and dissapeared, heh.

Looking back, I think a lot of 'poetry' comes from the fact, that the baseline MTL was done using google translator (or something similar) without removing line breaks. From my small MTL-ing experience I can say that if you remove line breaks from the original text before starting batch translation in T++ you get a lot better results, since machine translators usually think that separate lines are separate sentences.
I do wonder if such a trick could work in this case... The obvious issues are that 1) in dialogues the speaker name is a part of the dialogue itself, just separated by a line break 2) the game has a lot of scripting
And I, honestly, don't want to delve into this, since it for sure will be a pain

Doing god's work, I might look into replaying it in the future.
I was actually considering doing something for this game but it's very very very low prio in my backlog. And I still have PTSD from the ton of text in sugoroku 2.

I can actually tell you a bit about my (little) experience with AI translation.
A friend is slowly working on his own for over a year now and I sometimes help with the testing. It started as a script to do some quick but accurate translations, due to some of the quirks you mention with Translator++ and the likes. Packing lines together for example. It's very useful in some games, with lots of text, less for others.
It's what I used when I did a MTL for sugoroku2 but it wasn't intended for such a huge game at the time, it was painful.
Anyway, we are both experimenting with AI translation quite a bit lately.
Him in particular batch translated the four main Exs-tia games (I think the total was around 110~120k strings) using gemini (you get actually a ton of free usages on some of those models, he spent 0$). It took him more time to replay the game to play test than to translate.
Speed gain aside, I can tell you it does help tremendously with consistency (even if it can still get the pronouns wrong at times if it doesn't understand who is speaking).
However, you still get a lot of the 'poetry' you mention. Not to mention the onomatopeia and japanese sound effect (doki doki and the like) where it can have a lot of troubles translating it into something meaningful. Maybe that is fixable with better prompting.
I should add the AI can be quite good at translating script lines without messing them up, so this one is also a plus.

To sum it up, AI is a very useful tool but not a magic solution.
But, again, I'm still kinda new tinkering with it.
