ATTENTION:
The first four pages of this thread deal mainly with Age of Consent and a Consent Prequel substory. Consent is currently on the backburner, pending the completion of other projects.
However, right now I'm mainly focused on Enthralled: My Squienis Story at the moment, which is coming along nicely. The banner below links to my Enthralled comics thread, which currently includes all of Parts 1, 2 & 3, which total 250 pages of fanfic crossover goodness!

This thread is for a project I'm currently working on. It is currently in the early stages, and I'll post up stuff about it as I go along. Several months of work are required before the initial release, so for now, the purpose of this thread is to share progress updates, and also to solicit feedback as needed.

The project is entitled Age Of Consent, or simply Consent. Here's a promo teaser I put together when I started work on this project.

The game will be built using the RenPy framework, and I'm currently working on the UI framework. Here's the current ingame mockup of the UI.

The current plan is to release the game for free. I have no current plans for a Patreon or any such thing.

The game will be displayed in a POV plus style - I may 'back the camera up slightly' to get a better view of the gal(s). The protagonist is a rather intelligent young male, who has just turned 18 at the start of the game. He graduated high school early, and has been going to college for the last couple of years. Not being overly handsome, the hot college gals have been avoiding him up to this point (jail bait). He's still a virgin, but his luck may be about to change...

Activities planned:
Lots of teasing, foreplay, and sex.
Convince various gals into having fun sexy activities with you. This game will be relatively 'tame', as I'm not into the really twisted stuff...
Arranging trysts with multiple partners in the later stages of the game.
Multiple locations (Campus, Work, Strip Club, Home, Gym, various stores, etc.).
Various activities will each provide some benefit, and may open the door to random encounters.
Relationships levels will deteriorate over time, as will some stats, so you will need to work to maintain your existing relationships and certain stats (fitness, hygiene).
Possible trip to a brothel? That'll be a ways down the road, though...

This game will be a bit of a 'sandbox' style game, as opposed to a linear storyline. Relationships will blossom as you spend time with the various gals, and you can choose to focus on or ignore the various gals.

The initial release will cover Day 1, as Day 1 kickstarts the storyline for the game. Followup releases will expand upon the game, and cover the days following the initial release. The first day will have multiple storylines that you'll be able to explore, which will give you the option to replay the game a few times if you so wish, while I plug away at the first followup release.

There is a stat system, which will influence your interactions with the gals. Stats will provide modifiers to interactions, with higher stats improving said interactions. Stats may be improved via certain gameplay options.

This is more of an interactive story than it is a game. There won't be any 'dexterity based' activities in this game, such as clicking to fuck... Making the right dialogue choices will be the order of the day, although my goal isn't to 'punish' players for a couple of bad decisions.

Foreplay will be somewhat important. A gal will (hopefully) become more willing to do sexier stuff with you as you advance your relationships with said gal.

There may be a few simple animations throughout the game, but no videos, etc. are currently planned.

The protagonist's face will not appear in this game (maybe his chin though...), although the rest of his body may appear from time to time (see spoiler pics above and below). This is to allow you to envision your own face as that of the protagonist's if you so wish.

Six main characters are planned, including his adopted family, college acquaintances, and gals at his job. They all play significant roles in the storyline. There is also a supporting cast of characters, which will make appearances in various parts of the story as appropriate.

I'm using DAZ to do the modeling. Here's a few teaser pics for the main characters:

The image below will give you a good idea of what I mean by P.O.V. Plus. Note that I've pulled the camera back a bit to better showcase the gal. You can see the body of the main character (you) but of course not your head because it's your point of view...

It takes a while for my laptop do do renders, so it'll take a while to 'bank' enough artwork for the first release. I have a fairly detailed storyline for each of the main characters already, and will be coding dialogue for the various encounters over the coming weeks, as I add the various images to the story. I plan to build a much faster render machine in the next couple of months, once the new CPU hardware I want becomes available, which should speed up render production considerably.

I've worked out the basic framework for the game already, which will be based on 2 hour time increments. The 'length' of the game isn't quite worked out yet, due to the 'sandbox' style of play, and I am thinking of releasing the game in 'chapters', focusing on whatever the significant encounters and plot twists for the current 'chapter' will be. I'm pretty happy with my game mechanics already, so there won't be much need to 'rework' earlier chapters.

Followup chapters will be released as 'patches', so that you won't need to download the entire game each time, although the latest 'patched' version will also be made available as a full download, for those that haven't downloaded the game yet.

For now, as mentioned at the beginning of this post, the purpose of this thread is to give progress updates, and also to solicit feedback as needed.

Here's a question that I should address:

Q: "Why so long for the initial release?"

Answer:
I'm rather new to Daz, having worked with it for only a few short months. But even that short amount of time has made me a little ambitious r.e. my artistic tastes. And my current hardware isn't ideally suited to the task, as it doesn't have 'cuda cores. I've developed a taste for Iray renders, which makes this relevant, so I accept for now that renders will take longer (sometimes a LOOOOONG time).

Which is all fine and good, except when you are tying to pull off scenes like this:

The Paragon Cabaret figures in prominently into my storyline (you don't have to go there, but for those that do...). And it has a LOT of elements going on, which make for very long render times (on my laptop at least). Add to that that I'm experimenting as I go along, trying to get the right textures, etc., and that I'm new to Daz, and well this means setting up locations like this, and dialing them in properly, well it takes a while.

This gets compounded when I'm trying to do stuff like this...

This is just a partial render, hence the graininess, but I want to draw your attention to the shower booth at the middle right. In this render you'll notice that there are a lot of mirrors in play in the shower booth area. This all results in a very complex render.

I've been planning on building a render station soon, but thanks to the state of the CPU market right now I have reason to hold off for a couple of months until the really high core count CPUs become generally available, so I've been holding off on doing renders in this location, focusing on other areas instead, which require less rendering horsepower.

Then there's the whole 'getting the shower water prop to work' issue I've been having, but that's something I'll figure out eventually, once I get back to working in this location.

This location features prominently to my story, as the Paragon ties in with in several storylines (not all of them, of course!). So I don't want to 'gimp' it in any way, because I want it to be a magical place of sorts.

I'm having similarly long render times for stuff going on at home, due to all of the minor details I'm including in scenes. I REALLY need that faster rendering machine, and am making due with what I have for now.

Like this hot tub scene for instance. It takes a while to render scenes like this, and I still need to dial in the quality a bit better.

I also have a few areas in the house that I'm building as I go along. Step sis and mom will need their own bedrooms at some point...


So, short form, the Paragon Cabaret and the Stepmom's awesome house are a couple of the reasons why things are taking a while.

Tawny here (one of my supporting cast members) is patiently awaiting the completion of my remodeling job on the Paragon...

I've been plugging away at renders in a couple of the game locations that will be featured in Day 1. One of these is on campus, and is really just a place to get to know a few of the characters.

You'll first meet some of the supporting cast members here, along with a couple of the main characters. I'm using a 'stock' set here, and will probably track down a few laptops to incorporate into this location later (going to a college class without a laptop? Yeah that's so 20th century)...

I'll also need to work out the details for the various places that the characters call home. This can be an interesting place to meet their friends...

While I've taken some time to dial in the main characters, fortunately Daz has a lot of characters I can draw on for the supporting cast. I may put a handful of these to use with only minor adjustments. Mitzi's friend here really stole my heart so to speak, as I really like how she looks. I'll need to come up with a name for Mitzi's friend here, of course... it'll come to me. I also need to build Mitzi a house/apartment, so that she has a place to live and hang out with her friend here, but that's something I'll include in the followup release.

As mentioned before, this game is about developing relationships with the gals, while the protagonist explores his sexuality. So the story will be driven fairly strongly by dialogue choices. Elise here is a teacher in one of the college classes, and is seen here in a more conventional setting (this ties in with Day 1 dialogue)...

As you can see, I'm going for a mix of characters, to make things interesting. For day one, though, you'll end up focusing on one or two of the main characters, as you simply can't be in several places at once. Of course, you can always do additional playthroughs in the meantime if you are curious about the other Day 1 storyline forks while you wait for the subsequent releases... Day 1 is a special day for a couple of reasons, not just because it's the protagonist's 18th birthday, but you'll have ample opportunity to pursue various other gals later on in the story. As I mentioned, you'll need to build up your relationship levels over time, and neglecting relationships can set you back with a gal.

One last thing. I like to throw in silly or 'out of place' stuff every once in a while. So if some story element seems to come out of left field, well, you've been warned. These will mainly be 'easter eggs' though...

This isn't really a corruption sort of game in the 'traditional' sense (there are plenty of full on corruption games out there already), it's more about seduction. But, as your relationships blossom, the gals may be more open to interesting activities... If you are looking for a 'slut trainer' though, this isn't that game.

You'll barely see any increase on rendering speed with a CPU upgrade. You need to invest in a faster GPU (video card) if you want to render faster. And for Iray it needs to be a NVIDIA graphics card.

Multiple 1080 Ti's are the plan... with 64 or 128 PCie lanes for the 1080 Ti's and other hardware depending on which CPU solution I pick (this won't JUST be a rendering station, I have other uses for it as well). EPYC is working it's way into the market now, and Threadripper will be showing up in the next couple of months... so I wait.

Also, some of the other 3d software I am using utilizes CPU based rendering, so the extra cores will help there, should I need to do something outside of Daz.

Yeah this may be overkill, but at the moment overkill is within my budget. It'll be nice to get complete renders done in just a couple of minutes, as opposed to multiple hours.

In the meantime, I'm slowly plugging away at scenes as I more fully develop the minor points in the script and consider dialogue options for the story. I came up with an interesting story fork yesterday that I hadn't thought of before, and started working on renders for this dialogue fork. It's a minor thing, but the web of Day 1 dialogue trees gets more intricate as things get fleshed out.

I like the various dialogue options to have SOME effect on things, even if it's trivial. I.e. going left leads you to some brownie points with gal A, but if you went right instead, you'll end up currying favor with gal B. Going to the gym helps you increase your fitness (and sometimes other gals you are interested may be there). Even watching porn or gaming on your computer when those dialogue options appear may have an effect on gameplay, which in some cases may not be immediately obvious...

I'm probably making this sound more complex than it really is though, at least from the player's standpoint. Things should flow pretty smoothly ingame, so while you may ponder these decisions after the fact, most things will make sense when you see them ingame.

I don't want people agonizing over these dialogue decisions too much though. I.E. I'm not big on the 'choose this option, game ends, you lose' choices. I hate those!

Thanks! You need to be passionate about projects like this, especially when you are doing them for free...

I really like the process of building scenes for rendering using Daz and other tools. Dunno if I'll ever be really good at it - there are some real kickass artists out there - but I"m learning as I go along. And, thanks to that Lab Rats personal modding binge I had a few months back, I was able to battle test a few ideas and get comfortable with RenPy. Some parts of RenPy still kick my ass (python coding), but it's a pretty nice platform for interactive storytelling, so I'm happy that I took the time to learn how to do a few things using RenPy.

Ahhh, naming...

So, I decided to put together a new group shot, showcasing the majority of the gals so far. It's good to see them side by side to see how they stack up with each other, plus these shots can be useful as promos. Six of these nine gals are of course the 'primary' characters, with the other three being part of the 'supporting cast'.

I don't have a name for the 4th gal in this group shot as of yet. Her 'stripper name' could theoretically be Pebbles, but I may not want to go there, as the great gods Hannah and Barbara could be displeased. Ruby, Sapphire, etc. just aren't doing it for me, and none of the other 'rock related' names are doing it for me either, although I'm giving Geode some serious thought. So I'll ponder that one for a bit longer. She's just a minor supporting character in any case - a gentleman's club isn't complete without strippers, and strippers dress in costumes sometimes...

I'm going with Ella for now for Mitzi's friend, although I may change my mind on that. Angel came directly from the hot tub to do this group shot...

Not a bad looking group of gals so far! On that note, I'm off to rendering land.

Ahhhhhh you got me until the "adopted" part, why not "blood related" family? I know is just a game but for me it makes things more forbidden and interesting.

Trying to get decent expressions on face is something I struggle with a bit. The 'default' expressions don't play well with the amount of additional morphing I have going on with a few of the faces, so I usually end up dialing them in by hand.

The lighting isn't being kind to stepmom in this render, plus I sill want to adjust the position of her left arm a bit more so it doesn't look kinda weird - I was trying to find an angle where Ella could grip her hand without having to bend down. I also need to work on the Mom and Brooke espressions a bit, they still look 'forced'. I'll play with things when I get back to the groupshot, but for now I'm back to working on renders for the storyline.

I'm thinking maybe Geode or Gia for gal 4 (the Pebbles cosplay gal), but am still looking for that name that just speaks to me. I'll probably change Ella's name (Mitzi's friend) to one that doesn't begin with E (already have Elise). That way I can 'shorthand' all of the character names to just one letter (something I realized after I assigned the name Ella to Mitzi's friend) when coding dialogue in RenPy. Something Scandinavian/Germanic maybe. Not Helga though, that invokes a completely different voice in my head. The right name helps me invoke the correct 'dialogue voice' in my head, which then helps me envision how a character speaks a bit better when I'm writing scenes.

Still learning!

Yes Nicole is the step-sister. As to why he's adopted, that's the result of stepmom's failed 'relationship' with his dad. His original mom is out of the picture (died when he was young), and his dad moved on after living with stepmom for a few short years, hooking up with some younger floosy when the MC was 16 and just starting college. Stepmom accepted him as her own without issue, and in fact has treated him as if he was her own son ever since they first met.

I considered the 'blood relation' angle, but decided against it. There are a lot of really good games out there already in this regard, and I want to tell a different story. Plus, this 'opens up' the potential appearance options for the MC, as you don't know (and don't need to know) what either of his parents look like. So you can imagine him anyway you want. Although, since I decided I wanted this to be a POV kind of game, the shots where the torso appears does put a bit of a framework on how you choose to imagine him - i.e. he's not fat, not overly ripped, and isn't 'small' or 'overly large' down there. I don't want the visualizations of the MC to get any more specific than that, though, and even that was a 'necessary evil' thanks to the POV thing.

His skin tone (in some of the renders) is a bit darker than I personally envision him, but that actually might not be a bad thng, so I may 'go' with it. It could be a deep tan, or he could have multiple heritage options, i.e. not just caucasian/European. Mainly, I want you focusing on the girl parts anyways...

I'm thinking more along the lines of something you might call bamm bamm... she's into playing with boys of course!

I envision Elise as having French heritage myself, but yean the 'groupshot' does kind of invoke that whole 'grey alien' vibe... maybe she's the result of alien impregnation, which could make for a completely different storyline for her... She does have very light skin, which tends to stand out in certain situations (such as the groupshot). I sometimes do some postwork to 'darken' the skin tones and such, but the current groupshot is a 'raw' render with a gradient added in Photoshop for the background.

I'll credit you with the idea if I decide to go with it...

Yeah, I actually reduced the angle on Elise's eyes a bit from where I had her originally in a previous render, because it looked too weird in closeups. I could put them back...

It's kind of subtle, but I dropped the outside corners of the eyes (from the pic immediately above) about a half inch. After I saw how extreme the angle was in this closeup, I adjusted the eyes. I still wanted Elise to look exotic but not disturbingly so. Here's the 'after' shot with minor photoshop color adjustments (same pic that I shared a few posts above). I moved the right hand down a bit too, to provide a better view of her assets:



I felt the need to share this profile shot/partial render real quick, because it jumped out at me while I was moving the camera around in Daz.

Someone was mentioning that they really really want to see some hardcore diner action in another thread. These Elise renders are located on a diner set. While I currently don't have any plans for diner sex on Day 1/in the initial release (although heavy petting could be a possibility if you play your cards right with the right gal), this could very much be a possibility in future updates, and would tie in very well in the story, as there are actually two diner locations planned for this story.

I liked the porn pics the guy shared here in the DMD thread:
I love porn set in a dinner! But sadly not much sexually is likely to happen in the next update. But we can hope. And here are some ideas for Mrdots.

So, yeah, Diner sex in a future release! Done! Well, it will be done when I reach that point in the story (that'll be a while yet), but in the meantime, thanks for sharing oldje! Even if you did suggest it it in another game thread...

So, as I've mentioned before, still I'm still learning a few things in Daz Studio.

One thing that I stumbled across involves render settings. I've apparently been using the default (gaussian), but a few people like Mitchell better. I tried using Mitchel instead of Gaussian, and so far I like it better.

I also noticed after the fact that the annoying camera headlamp is on again in a few renders. I hate that thing, so there's a few renders that I'll redo where that seems to have happened. I use emissive stuff a lot instead of 'regular' lights (generally recommended depending on the environment), but those don't 'count' as lights even though they emit light, so the headlamp likes to flip on in those situations unless you manually disable it...

Anyways, enough boring stuff. No development thread is truly complete without a gratuitious ass shot!
