Quick (non) update...
So pictured above are White Warbler, Green Hood and Black Warbler sans wardrobe, aka Cami, Ollie and Tara. Ollie will be the MC in my upcoming project, who will be overseeing the Supers Adult Island Resort thinigie.
Unfortunately, I haven't been 'in the mood' to tackle a bunch of renders atm for reasons. Mainly I've been distracted by my Space Journey X mod. It's a very extensive mod, and I'm still tackling a couple of loose ends in that mod. The upside here is that I'm becoming a bit more comfortable with Ren'Py, and by extension Python coding, which will help when I tackle the 'under the hood' stuff for my resort project thingie.
I'm pretty satisified with the characters I've come up with for my upcoming project so far, I think it's a nicely eclectic mix of homages to various characters. As an example, this render that I did a bit ago now feels appropriately Super-Heroine-ey...
Taking off in the Great White North, ey?
I'm definitely leaning into the 'stylized body' angles for my characters. These are 'fantasy' characters, so their body lines should reflect that.
Anyways, as I noted, I haven't made much progress recently for reasons/getting distracted with other stuff, and I still haven't set up my new dedicated rendering rig. It's been ready to go for a while now, I just need to install the OS and a bunch of software, which isn't my favorite thing to do. Like my interim rendering rig, which has been sitting idle for years now (since my GTX 1080 Ti died), It will be physically isolated from the Internet, I have laptops for internet access. So setting it up will be a bit more of a pain, as I need to get everything working software wise before putting it to work. i also need to buy another monitor and MacGyver together a frame to support two monitors in a specific way (essentially stacked) for my work setup.
I also need to work out a 'keyboard stand/shelf' thingie to put a scecond mouse and keyboard on. Speaking of mice, while the Kensington trackball that I'm using now to replace the now discontinued Logitech marble mouse works well enough, and it's nice having a scroll ring now, I keep thinking about splurging on this mouse instead, but the price keeps putting me off...
I mouse left handed, so I need an 'ambidextrous' trackball design. The trackball thingie solved my carpal tunnel issues with regular mice a long time ago, and I haven't went back since.
I have a stand already for Uber Laptop here. It has an 18.4" screen/is huge by laptop standards, and I needed to 'park' it like a desktop due to power connector issues, I needed to velcro strap the power supply cable to the stand to keep it from moving/falling out/stressing the connector, so as a desktop replacement it's fine. I have a smaller 17" laptop that I can use on my lap if needed/should Uber laptop fail again. Uber laptop is now about 8 years old, so while it doesn't feel like it's on it's last legs yet, well it is just a matter of time...
Said stand for the laptop is part of my issue. Trying to configure a second stand, well it's a placement issue thing, there's only so much space where I work, so I need to get 'creative' with such things. It's not your typical 'desk' setup, no desk is involved, just stands and such for everything, and I like to be able to watch my big screen TV from where I sit as well, so yeah it's kind of a weird/non-traditional workspace area, but it works for me within the space I have available for such things (think small studio apartment/open floor plan).
So yeah, tedius boring stuff that I keep putting off. In the meantime, my dedicated Daz Studio 7.27 TB drive is down to it's last 130 GB of space (which for SSDs is bordering danger territory) so I haven't installed a bunch of recent Daz3D.com stuff. There's a bunch of housekeeping that I'll need to do here to clear some space, and I need to do another backup first, and clone my OS drive for the new system to see if I can get away with that again...
It's all the 'little' stuff like serial numbers and software & stuff that I'd rather not have to install from scratch again. As I said, the goal is to keep dedicated rendering rig isolated from the internet, using my laptops for such things as an extra 'safeguard' against viruses and stuff.
With the Daz3D.com sales team raising pricing, and also being more frugal with discounts and such, well I have well over 20,000 items from various sources (freebies, Renderosity, Daz3D, etc.), so I'm not feeling the need to buy much of anything these days. I'm quite content with G2/G3/G8 era stuff, so other than grabbing cool new environments occasionally for storytelling, yeah I have a bunch of stuff that I may never use already, and am quite content with the character, hair, and clothing resources that I have in my library already.
Finally, due to the 'reasons' I keep meantioning, well my muse is on vacation atm, so I'm taking the time to recharge my creative energies. The SJx mod is quite extensive, and while I'm pretty proud of it, well it saps my creative energies trying to work out all of the coding. I'll probably feel the need to update it one more time in a month or so when the next version of SJx is publicly released, so yeah...
As for Enthralled & FmF, yeah no desire to tackle either of those again atm.
Anyways, just wanted to give y'all a heads up as to why I haven't been sharing many renders lately.
Back to it!
