I was wondering the same thing. Most likely the 0.19 saves will not work in the free 0.20 version because of the new DRM. But we'll see. The wait is only three or four months, we've seen worse.
saves from 0.19 will not work in any 0.20, free or not, because of the engine change. When 0.20 will be free, you'll have to replay it. Still a bit unclear how he'll make a free 0.20 without the codes, but we'll see.
In the meantime, you might consider supporting the game, it's one of the few devs that actually deserves that, for half the price of an overpriced coffee.

I'm okay with waiting but start over? I have 2 hour free time a day max, unless there will be a fix, save or something I can't play it again. It was one of my favorite games, best wishes to Nenad, I never can support games on patreon because of my country banking system hope he gets the supports he deserves
I don't mind buying it on release, it's usually what I do, but I don't like subscription based payments. One and done for me. I've never been burned by the abandoned tag and I never will.

I hope Nenad will provide working saves for the new version of the game, otherwise it's going to suck. This is not a Renpy game where you can skip ahead quickly. And there's a lot of grind (hell, to be honest) here too, forcing players (even paid ones) to do it is not a very cool strategy. We'll see where we go from here.

I was going to say hellish grind. And there's plenty of it - gathering resources to complete quests, searching for anomalies/treasure to make money.
All that anomalies search was reduced for a couple versions. 3-4 trips to get some anomaly is not a hellish grind. For resources, the same, 3-4 full map cleanups will get everything you need. Yes, there's Gold for Drake which is a bit annoying, but that's about it. If that's hellish....we have different definitions of hellish.
Still, your point is not 100% wrong and I think an incorporated 'cheat' mode would be nice to have, especially for replaying. Since the saves are completely ne-editable for this engine, a button mapped to get tons of resources and money would be a good idea.

Well, obviously I got to the point where the grind wasn't cut, and I dutifully dug through the entire map (three!). I may have exaggerated the grind a little, but all the same it is very less desire to go through it again. The quests are also not all interesting and often reduced to just moving to the maximum opposite points several times. All this is okay if you play once, but not to replay. Fair would be if there was an opportunity to continue the game from the end of 0.19 release.
Nenad seems OK with the idea to add a button that will just give you resources and money for all chars. That will help with the grind for replaying. Will probably come in 0.21.
As for continuing at the end of 0.19, that's 100% impossible, it's not even worth talking about it anymore. This time you need to restart it. Many games have to do this when save games are no longer compatible. And here is not even Nenad's fault, by adding weird params or changing existing ones, it's the new engine of the game.

and what options should he select in the save ? There are minor branches to be implemented, like the one with Drake's sister. Futa or no futa ? Also, it will not work with the code that exists now in the save file.

In RenPy games sometimes when saves break the developer allows you to start the game from the last chapter, and allows you to enter previous choices, something like that could be done here, there aren't that many of them.

I did that many times already, will do it more times again for sure. I did it even now when creating the EON Collections doc, although, agreed, I had the cheat option, which will probably be available for all in the next version.
