Why is it tagged "Completed"?
V0.956 doesn't sounds like a completed version.
EDIT: OK ran thru some comments, turns out the Dev gave up the finishing touch / polish, left this game on an unsatisfying states, and already move onto making a new game?
Tho giving how they butchered the end half of this one and all the AI slop stuff, not sure I expect anything from their new game.

You really need to get over yourself. The devs were exploiting people. They said 9 chapters, rushed the 9th (or, more likely, half-assed it so they could mess around with the new game) so much that it is now being utterly slammed both on here and (when I was last on the patreon channels) their discord when it was released. All so they could try to push for another chapter (an epilogue) which would have again taken more time while the patreons paid them (it's been 2 months almost and they've only just released it and it wasn't even a decent epilogue from what I'm reading).but again, some people think it's "exploitative" and "milking"
The way I see it, they started cutting corners with the ai so they could funnel some of the money into the new game. Anyone still on the patreon has been paying for the new game now, not Ergi.
And even if it wasn't "exploiting", you can quite clearly see that the devs no longer cared. A 10th chapter shouldn't be worked on while chapter 9 is such a buggy mess (per your own words). They've had almost 2 months extra and, as you have repeatedly said, not fixed the bugs then released more ai rubbish that looks nothing like the characters.
And frankly, who would want a 10th chapter if it was just more ai slop? Chapter 9 is utterly terrible in comparison to the others.
So, with all due respect, do not try to belittle the opinion of those who paid and are now angry. I actually don't think anyone would have cared if they did stretch out to another chapter, shit happens and maybe they realise it's necessary. But the shift to ai is what broke any goodwill that might have been had regarding that.

I downloaded chapter 9, started a new game. Played through the prologue, but I have no images or sound for chapter 1. Does anyone has the same problem?
Does anyone know if I can edit a save and undo a completed mission?
That damn bug that prevents me from completing the “Fortified Homes” Quest happened again. I had to accept Revna's Diaspora quest, but instead of 10 constructions, she only asked for one, and I didn't pay attention.
This caused Tora to die, and I can only complete Borge and Erland's story if she survives.
Unfortunately, I forgot to save the beginning of chapter 8.
Edit: Nevermid. I finished the chapter even though I couldn't finish the stories.

I suggest you merge the files again. If you don't have the original files, download them again.
Take a look at the installation guide in chapter 2-5 and do the same with the following chapters.
You gotta download them all and copy them into each other one at a time in order.
So whatever the first file is called, copy Chapter 2 into that folder, then copy chapter 3 into the folder, etc, overriding everything as you go.
It's rather convoluted but they did it so they could charge each chapter individually.

When the slow burn becomes a crash and burn... I'm questioning if I should edit my review...
I think the game ended that way because the developer focused more on making the game mechanics increasingly complex than on the story itself.
This game has always been unintuitive. But in chapter 8, they went too far.
As for chapter 9, I don't even dare to torture myself by playing it without a guide.

First of all, I will admit I do give the devs benefit of the doubt after years of solid release with good AI, and I included the initial released that full of bugs in equation because they often fixed everything. Second, I do agree with you that they definitely wanted to focus more on the new game and clearly had lost sparked for the game. And as much as I agree with you that another chapter with less quality would be bad, I didn't mean epilogue as a proper chapter, with quest and all of that, just a closing chapter for the story that doesn't have to be long, like the prologue.
And we're clearly see things differently as I have experience in narrative story-making, so I can tell you pretty much the epilogue was warranted from the get go, and the devs failure to see it was no one fault but their own, that's why I see no problem with them saying they wanted to add the epilogue, because again, the writings were on the wall. I don't see it as them cutting corners, but again, they definitely wanted to close Ergi to work on their next project, that I agree.
And no, I am not belittling opinion of those "who paid and are now angry", I am belittling opinion of those who haven't paid, haven't played the game (or the latest chapter so they don't even know what the real problem was), and still has the nerve to add their baseless opinion to the conversation. And no, I had stressed this a while back when chapter 9 was released that the complaint on the fact that we're getting the epilogue was more than the AI-slop which was the biggest problem.

Looking back on it now, I can see some environments in Chapter 8 that are a little sus, but I have the impression that the vast majority of the game is rendered via Daz or Blender, not the product of AI generation. To me, right now (because, hey, the tech is still very new and evolving), there is a world of difference in the quality and effort between those two techniques.
Also, hell, if we're going to brutally honest, there are plenty of AI-using artists who would have fine-tuned a LORA on their old work and made the characters in chapter 9 recognizable, but the author either didn't want to spend the money on that or just didn't care in general.
Like I said, backer here, so I'm pretty sure I'm entitled to an opinion and my opinion is they screwed up royally and can't be trusted with more of my money. If they'd continued on as they were, with high quality renders, I'd absolutely say a epilogue chapter would have been a good thing and happily paid for it.
If they weren't going to uphold the standard of work we'd been supporting, taking the game out behind the barn and putting a bullet in it now was a mercy. And that's basically what they did.

on a comment on Patreon voicing their disappoint for the images and the problems with the chapter etc. the dev replied
I am aware of the feedback and are following up on them already. Do give us some time to coordinate and consolidate the issues and work with the artist on them.
In a subsequent message, they added the info that
Everyone in my team has a full time job, artists dropping out mid project also cos a lot of transition and consistency issues for us. We spend most of our time managing those project management issues.
So that's a positive note. And I appreciate that they at least replied in an understanding way
