I did my first ch5 recently and I found the guide helpful, as in it contains all the information. What the guides lack (not just chapter 5's, but most of them) are summary tables, for example where you can gather stuff freely (e.g. in chapters 4-5), or telling the succession of events for each LI or side quests and where they happen, because I agree that's a bit of a pain going back and forth within a single PDF file.
Clearly the game is not structured for that. (also, why in the hell they decided to list the various LIs not in alphabetical order, making them more difficult to track down??)

Usually, a game like this would have some kind of wiki online. I wonder if people are hesitating to make one because there are already paid guides available.

I actually made my own guides for the game, but I'm just waiting for C9 to launch so I can release it complete.

It's also pretty hard to make a guide for C8 since a lot of the missions diverge. It's hard to map out a universal guide that considers which camp you're siding with. There's also so many ways to accomplish a mission so it's quite messy.

The guide I made is pretty crude since it's really just based on the dialogue markers and tags in the code. It might be hard to use for players who haven't read the game's code yet.

well i have more doubts. ch6 guides say 'scene at hot springs is unlocked', but even after moving to next day, no scene in sight

EDIT: you have to interact with the blond dude not the spring itself

I think the biggest thing that one should consider when playing is the choice of class whether they are Seidr, Alf, or Valkrye because of the resource management, AND their romance partner. There is definitely a definite way to do a certaing things, like definitely have a civil war, because, and this is one of my biggest complain for the game, there is a certain better choice in a mission, and choosing the other one doesn't really do anything gamewise (Except for Ch.5 Ralf). I will say tho, Ch.5 sidequests has a lot of implication for future chapters (And some of the ch.5 romance specific like Jostein), but generally, the quests/character choices didn't do much. For example, in ch.5 Jorgen asked you whether you should plant the seed. Choosing either doesn't change anything, and unless you're specifically romancing Jorgen, his personal quests where he asked you to choose something didn't do anything either.

Sure, they influenced whether the characters go to adversary or not, but I wish there was more, like helping Henrik to faithfully fix the "Sun" in Undercity or just lie to people should've been more consequential.

Unfortunately, the guide is pretty unhelpful anyway.
this guide does strengthen my resolve not to play ch.8 until ch.9 is out tho. My planned playthrough was matching the city with the tree (e.g. Valkrye will all go to Alpine), now I have to change that so it's the patron god that match the city (e.g. Freya=> Alpine). I think whether to congregate or not really depends on ch. 9 itself. 4 gauntlet fights doesn't seem that bad with late game Alf, but Seidr and Valkryes Rations will take a huge hit.

I do wonder what "moving entire population in a day" would do using Alf route tho but ending the whole jormugandr because he walked the wrong way and starve to death sounds very underwhelming (even if it does feels like a Loki way, and he is the patron of the Alf).

This^^

In C8, there's a quest to help Revna fortify the tunnels using 9 (minus # of bones in Mass Transportation) Construction. Easily achievable within 3 days for Alf, but would likely take around 9 days for Valk and Seidr. However, finishing this quest before rescuing Tora would lead to her reaching the Yggdrasil and dying. So yeah, sequence does matter a bit in C8.

I do also say though that the game gives out a lot of Bones to give people the chance to tap into Alf. Here's my C8 Alf + Seidr ending build for my latest playthrough. No cheats on bones, just pure minmaxing. I didn't expect at all to max out on Seidr, likewise tap into Alf much more than necessary. It should be highly recommended to always multiclass into Alf, at least until you have Fast Build.

I converted the guides into images and sorted them, but I still had to read the code. I did all that and still ended up using save editor. I'm 100% here for the stories minus the grind.

I replayed chapter 7 in December and was refreshing this forum daily for chapter 8 upload because of the cliffhanger. I want a feel good ending but considering the optional death in chapter 7 and 8, I guess anything is possible.

I have to say that it feels like things become much more overarching from ch5 onwards... I like to play each chapter for the various LIs before moving to the next one, but when I ended chapter 5 there were various open ended scenarios so I don't trust that and I might just want to do a full run (I mean ch5+) with one LI to see what happens

I think there were too many permutations at a certain point and the devs had to streamline part of it, which I understand

More like the permutation were only relevant within the chapters you're playing and rarely influence future chapters. (Again with the exception of ch.5 which have the most influence over future chapters and now ch. 8 which influence ch.9 heavily it seems)

Sorry, I'm being lazy, but I remember you need to do a quest to lure out some people who are hiding there before Alexa's location becomes accessible
tysm, the thing is, after I continue my progress to help Revna steal Hell's tanks, "Fortified Homes" mission disappears. I don't understand.

Also, I've already finished ch 8 without knowing Alexa's location (tho I will replay this chapter), and I found that there are no explicit or sexual interaction scenes so far in ch 8, aren't they? I only get nude CGs after completing the captains' side missions and the cuddling scene with my LL. Someone please tell me that I miss those scenes because my dirty mind is starving for it since the last time we got a hot hot interaction scene was in ch6 LOL

Yeah, I don't quite remember but for ch 8, you can accept bunch of quest but some might failed.

I'm not 100% sure on this but you can only find Alexa if:
1) You help Alders fortify their settlement and get the mission to change Alexa's mode from them, OR
2) If you ask Hel for help how to attune the device to you AFTER you help her secure the tanks.

I don't think you can access Alexa if you side with Revna because she'll do it herself after you give her Geir's key.

HOW DID U GET THATTT OMG OMG OMGGGG. Do u mind if I ask you your save file pretty please *cry cry*
you have to complete your partner missions and get all of their personal cgs. All of them are gatekept by the Undercity rebellion missions until it resolves, and some partners require you to progress through Alexa as well (the ones I remember were Ralf, Tyr, and Erland)

you can still find Alexa in any route, but you'll only get access to the Vanaheimr CPUs if you complete fortify home.
