Episode 4 - Progress Report #16
Hey everyone
I'm getting very close to finishing renders for Episode 4! A couple more days and this massive milestone is done!
Progress:
  • Writing: 99%
  • Character models: 100%
  • Environments: 100%
  • Renders: 97%
    • Day 10: 353/353
    • Day 11: 460/460
    • Day 12: 335/335
    • Day 13: 550/600
  • Music/Sound: 0%

Estimated release date: May
I've also spent some time fixing the save file naming feature, went hunting for typos and generally changed a bunch of dialog lines.
I'm confident that I can start working on sound sometime next week. I'll get you a release date as soon as I can estimate how much time I'll need for that last portion of development. So maybe I'll announce it in next week's progress report? We'll see, but it's not too much longer in any case .

❤ Thank you all for your support! Enjoy your weekend! ❤

So as far as I can tell duplos are obviously supposed to represent transgenders(more specifically trans women) but I still don't understand the point the game's trying to make. Is the hate against duplos justified? Because so far it seems like it is. Duplos are seen as sex fiends but the game really insists that Ashe is just a normal person with a very high sex drive who also just happens to be a duplo, but then she wants to fuck both her mother and sister. At first I just assumed incest was a normal thing in this universe but then we see Rachel's absolutely disgusted by Ashe's advances, as a sane person would be.

I think the whole duplos thing depends on a person's personality and how well they can control their urges. As we seen Ashe has decent control but fails at times like with her sister or in the bathroom at her sister's place. I think Ashe might be a minority within the duplos community as the way the game describes them to me makes it seem like most lack the ability to control their urges. Tho maybe I missed something but that's the way I see things / remember them I do need to replay this game and plan to on the next update.

No, duplos are not supposed to represent trans people (or any other group in the real world). I'm not trying to make a grand point about modern day politics or anything like that. If anything it's a much more general representation of how people treat others that are different than themselves.

The whole question if duplos actually are what everyone believes them to be, is something that will accompany Ashe throughout the story. And it's something that every player might have to eventually answer for themselves.

This is the downside with releasing a game like this before it is finished; you can't really just say "just play the game and find out/make up your own opinion" when people want the answer today. To be clear tho, that's not a criticism, just an observation.

Of course, people will probably keep asking long after the game is finished too, so it's not that much of a downside.

It's best when conflict in a game is self contained. Once you start bringing in allegory, it leaves a bad taste.
But it's impossible to avoid people seeing allegory when it isn't even intended to be there.
I bet every dollar I have that if a game were to come out today that involves a conflict between two countries, even if it's set in a fantasy world, someone will compare it to current ongoings.

Speaking of Duplos, I have already thought that being people with a super high libido more than average people, Duplos are deliberately pushed into sexual work such as prostitution or porn since they are not given job opportunities in other sectors due to their condition. If that's the case I wonder if we'll see other Duplos in this situation, it would be a good way to see why Ashe is so terrified of revealing who she is.

I also thought that the defamation of the Duplos could be a conspiracy by people with power to exploit them, but since it is 1% of the population, I discarded this theory as it was unprofitable with those figures.

Hence why I said that someone will always find a parralel even when one wasn't intended.
The same message can be thought of about many things in history. Trans is just "the thing" happening right now, so that's the thing that people will equate it to.
The dev has stated that there is no allegory intended, so let's not try to force it in.

I think this is kind of a mixed message here. Minorities are discriminate against or downright persecuted because of them being different.
When we have the "duplos", a very small minority of true hermaphrodites, being hated and feared because they are dissimilar from the perceived (by some) norm i believe it becomes hard not to draw paralels with what happens in real life with trans people.
The important part is that people pretty much always get descriminated for perceived differences. This is not exclusive to trans people, because every in-group has perceptions about out-groups for any reasons you could think of. That's just how bigotry works in every case. In fact I could probably think of several minorities that fit this game's duplo allegory better than trans people.

Duplos are obviously not very different, when there's characters like Zoey and Fiona, who aren't any less horny than Ashe, or characters like Kate, who are ashamed of their kinks, or actual predators like Natasha. Think of the implications. Is it bad to be horny and to have kinks (as long as everything is consensual), just because that's how duplos get perceived?
This game is less about an irl minorities analog and more about Ashe accepting herself for who she is (which is actually a fantastically executed part). You know, like "What if people hate me, because I'm horny/kinky/hot for my sister?" The bigotry in the game world is just the mechanism that triggers Ashe's self-doubt. But the real katharsis wouldn't be about accepting duplos despite the perceived differences, but about letting everybody be horny and kinky, whether they're duplo or not.

I hope this version will have top content that will be very cool and not just one chatter and a sense of choice and no influence in the game does not occur, I understand that the beginning of the game but it still has to be interesting and my mental thoughts do not give rest the girl has 3 holes and it turns out she can fuck 2 people and then maybe you can fuck one girl too and in her mouth and this fucking orgy of 4 people is already going on, I understand what the author will not think of and will not do

On this game thread let's call this the final word on this subject. If you want to further discuss issues that are going to devolve into political debates/disagreements please keep that in the off-topic forums. Thank you.

I hope the "you" in this warning is applying to everyone/situation as a whole and not blaming the Dev for correcting the original poster's assumption about the game...
