I had always assumed it was a pretty common trope, but it's interesting to find out otherwise.
I believe it stems from the practice of using a cross as a grave marker.
How did I miss the list? I hope the list will be updated with more green letters. The duplos are really rare in the realm. Moira and Jessica is a mono pair? Isn't it weird with so many females around? Spike is a female? What a waste! Has anyone found Natasha's neighbour?

Even so, this doesn't confirm to much. If the other mother were to turn out to be a duplo, revealing this in a list would diminish the impact it would have if revealed during the game.
well I think if Jane was the same as ashe i feel she would be in a much better place cause she would had someone to talk to about the difficult of being a duplo a least before jane died.

oh shit I smell drama if that were true and evelyn has kept it a secret especially from Ash who has struggled with being a duplo her whole life. And especially after the last night at the party I can only imagine how a Siren Ash will react to such a big secret either a huge crash out or a downward spiral possibly going out of control.
Yes. I don't remember if it's mentioned whether the duplo is a mutation or hereditary. So that's why i think if the mother is one or has a relative who is, explain why MC is a duplo.

To be honest, I think the list is weird anyway to reveal what a character is if we haven't seen it in-game, especially if we would ever meet a new duplo. Imo those that haven't been confirmed (yet) in-game should just be shown as ??? like Morrigan did with some of the names and Oriana's face. That would also keep the mystery up a lot.

If being a duplo was hereditary,it won't be so rare to begin with.
So this is probably not the case.
chances are it is both a mutation that is hereditary. it a biology thing that happen from time to time but is something likely to happen to family who family line had the problem before.
Exactly, that list might not be very reliable. Especially if it's meant to keep the game interesting.

To be honest, we don't really know if duplo's are rare or not. Ashe tells us in the beginning of the story, but those are just Ashe's words, not an objective narrator. I wouldn't be too surprised if in reality duplo's aren't that rare but just uncommon, but that duplo's are just taught they're rare for some reason (most likely because of the negative reputation they have).
or maybe duplo would kill off before. like the Salem witch trails situation. cause it seem the religious order view them as demons so maybe they were kill the duplo off in the older days leaving the dulpo appearing more uncommon.
As Lazygamer said, it could be a mutation that becomes hereditary. Obviously this is a game, but biologically, i'ts more likely to occur in a family that already has cases than in one that doesn't. If MC is not the first in the family, that may be the case.
