With all of the comments about music, I started paying more attention to it, and I've gotta wonder how many hours of crappy music Caribdis and other Devs have to listen to to find the gems they put in the games. Sometimes a normal "song" will come to mind for a scene or person and that will be natural, but for the stuff like the background music at the Halloween party when MC and Nova are trying to get into the contest, and other "vamping" types of situations, it must be a little bit of a pain to come up with a variety of background music that fits and doesn't annoy or detract. I've done at least one where a few of the rotating songs were real earwigs and I just muted the music. None of Eternum's stuff has bugged me, mostly because it seems to fit the situation and doesn't seem to be on some type of rotation that may or may not fit with a scene.
I suspect they have some kind of random music channel running while they write, design and render and go "aha" and make a note when something strikes them right.
The effort it takes is probably why many VPNs don't have music, just sounds that go with actions (phones buzzing, crowd chatter, gun shots, car noises, moaning
