With all of the comments about music, I started paying more attention to it, and I've gotta wonder how many hours of crappy music Caribdis and other Devs have to listen to to find the gems they put in the games. Sometimes a normal "song" will come to mind for a scene or person and that will be natural, but for the stuff like the background music at the Halloween party when MC and Nova are trying to get into the contest, and other "vamping" types of situations, it must be a little bit of a pain to come up with a variety of background music that fits and doesn't annoy or detract. I've done at least one where a few of the rotating songs were real earwigs and I just muted the music. None of Eternum's stuff has bugged me, mostly because it seems to fit the situation and doesn't seem to be on some type of rotation that may or may not fit with a scene.

I suspect they have some kind of random music channel running while they write, design and render and go "aha" and make a note when something strikes them right.

The effort it takes is probably why many VPNs don't have music, just sounds that go with actions (phones buzzing, crowd chatter, gun shots, car noises, moaning ;)).

You know the biggest grump I have and it's not even a real complaint? All these kick ass devs making great stories with awesome girls and artwork - and due to how much work this takes it's so long before we get the next installment *weep*

I would actually argue the reason most devs do not have music in their games is lack of funds for licenses. I mean I come from an industry where ownership is taken really seriously, so I can tell you how easily someone can get sued over using anything and profiting of it.
I do agree the music in Eternum is some top notch stuff, but I would argue it isn't always the hardest. Not saying it isn't hard but there is specific sounds that will always go well with specific scenes. Like take the party as an example, party background songs have a common theme to them. Look at the scene with Matt, you get a mysterious type of song for that egyptian plunder feel. And now in the current chapter vocals were added which really made the song stand out more.
Tl: Dr Sure finding songs can be hard but I think that it isn't the reason devs don't use em.

It looks like I need to play Ripples and Projekt: Passion. I tried to play Pale Carnations a few months ago and it just didn't do anything for me, something about the humiliation aspect really bothers me. I'm a little concerned that Desert Stalkers would have that same affect so I've kinda avoided it as well.

I've played more stuff on here than I would like to admit so I've already finished / caught up on: Once in a Lifetime and Oppai Oddysey (really really good stuff).
Yea they're not for everyone, I usually don't like more serious stuff like those, but the story and characterization carries it enough for me to like them, I just gotta turn on the sadism in me :devilish:

I'm in the hospitality industry and I know how much annual ASCAP and BMI licenses can cost. Not sure if there might be scaled down versions for different types of ventures, but I can see that it would be very limiting. There is some amount of "open use" out there, but I don't know how much and whether a Dev could find enough good content in that pool.

With the walk through, I've only really had one save going up until now. At this point, I now have 5! Have to see if the amulet does anything, if being willing to sacrifice others does anything, how "rough" might change things with Penny, and, on a whim, I did truths instead of dares - I now have a save called "Let there be rough blood!". Not that I'm into that, but it would be interesting to see if that does make a scene change in the future. At least MC could let do one IRL creampie without a pregnancy risk...

And, even though everyone said there wasn't, and I didn't see a placeholder for it, I had to see if doing both truths and daring Regina would open up a hidden scene. Even though it didn't, I still did an Unren to confirm. ;) (Unless the unrened image files were some how hidden....).

I'm generally not big on the BDSM/crazy humiliation and subjugation nonsense either but I think Pale Carnation has a lot of cool stuff to offer if you can thread the needle. I'm kind of enjoying that you are thrown into this whacky situation but can find a way to maintain your humanity. Also - Mina & Hana are WORTH the few moments of me gritting my teeth at what some of the characters do heh. Anyway, wrong thread for the game but I wanted to pipe in as someone who generally doesn't like that kind of trope either.

I won't go on for too long, but I kept seeing references to Pale Carnations. Might give it a try, but the BDSM/humiliation thing also isn't my cuppa. Though, I do like a nice redhead and Veronica, though a little more buff than I usually prefer, is intriguing. Searched through but didn't find many images, and I'm not going through 400 pages or downloading a game that big just to see if she's got a red carpet; still, I'm intrigued.

The site we can't name here has an "image" menu for each thread so you can see what people have posted along those lines. Too bad this place doesn't.

But the payoff with Nancy was worth the wait. That ride-up and slip it in animation was top notch - I practically felt it. Must have rewatched it a dozen times.
Couldn't agree more ( and I lost count of how many times I re view that scene), but he still remain a sadist... and a darn good one if I may say so. :sneaky: :D

It is still quiet the penny when you buy stuff like "Royalty Free", what most don't realise it just means you don't pay royalties but you still have to pay a flat fee.
I know that Adobes flat fees are fucking ridiculous but thats Adobe.
I know some sites provide a option for startups. But you are still looking 500 dollar/euro minimum on most songs. And that is per track.
