1. I was talking with
Dorfnutter about this some time ago and the idea was that even if Orion/Penny doesn't unlock their powers IRL or
Calypso Mommypso
is summoned to save him, there's a big chance that she summons him to her if she unlocked her powers already. If not Orion will 100% find himself in either the weird Purgatory style world or he'll be stuck in Eternum for the rest of the update.
2. I'll be honest: I hate the fact that people had to complain about stuff like that.
First and foremost if you fuck up so much you get the worst ending then IDK what you expect. It'll obviously have a bad turn and leave a bad taste in your mouth.
But I genuinely don't understand why people bitched about the
Death one. I loved that scene especially when you see just how hurt and hopeless Lauren is. Really pulled at my heartstrings.
I swear if the bad ending/s in Eternum will suffer and become "Baby's First Bad Ending" I'll have a lot of choice words for the CocoMelon complainer squad from OIALT

1) I'm a bit lost, what Orion/Penny powers IRL you're mentioning? Unless you meant Calypso instead? Maybe it's because it's late and I'm tired, but yeah.
2) My issue isn't specifically complaining. Even if players shouldn't try to decide the dev's choices when it comes to development, at the same time I'm sure Caridbis welcomes well based feedback. My issue was when people complain when choices in Caribdis games are pretty explainable, and people complained also because of the genre of that scene (which I won't mention it, since the sentiment around these forums to that specific genre is quite fierce and would probably derail into OT). I'll just say that while I also don't like that genre, as I said some posts ago, Eternum is a surviving game, there's a sense of nearly death around the corner.
Those kind of events give depth to the game, and make you feel engaged with the story and plot. The sense of horror and nearly death gives thrill when playing the game, and unless some of those specific events aren't avoidable even if you play the game right, you shouldn't complain about it, but actually be pleased by Caribdis writing. It's normal to not be confortable with some decisions and outcomes, that's what makes Eternum a great game.
So yeah, I'm not exactly against discussion about the game. However I am against to discussion of trying to decide by themselves how the game should be made, when they aren't wasting their free time on it and literally having a product for free most of the times.
3) You need to say that to
Uthuriel, he was the one
who did it. Just used it because the spam for update is getting tiresome and was literally his first post.
I mean if they messed up and got the bad end that is on them. I have no idea how they would manage without doing it on purpose, but sucks to suck I guess. Like why bitch about a bad ending being bad?
A good bad end just makes the good good end better you know?
That's the point. We aren't against that by itself.
I agree with your point, the thing is that at the time it really derailed the thread. There are times where a bit of OT here and there is cool, but the thread was literally unviting to the common viewer, and more importantly, to Caribdis himself. And that was extremely unfair imo. As you said a good bad end makes a good end even more, I agree fully with that, but yeah, it was jarring. Fortunely that didn't happen on Eternum's thread on those propotions (that I recall of), but that's also probably one of the reasons that Caribdis doesn't engage that often around here anymore.
I could be completly wrong with what I said above, but if I was the dev I wouldn't that happy with that as well. What's cool is that at least with Eternum so far it is a pretty small minority, but the darker the story is becoming, the more of those I expect to happen. Let's hope that I'm completly wrong and the backlash won't happen though.
