Am I the only one who gets annoyed when games take a total of 4-5 years to fully release, thus sort of killing their own hype and legacy? I know this and BADIK had amazing visuals at the start, but by the time they're finished other games have caught up for example the visuals become not so impressive.

It's still going to go down as one of the GOAT, but you know.
Yea probably the only one, or a few rather.

Here is the thing: SHIT TAKES TIMES TO MAKE. Not to mention there is something called 'real life events' that can happen. Additionally some devs prefer to solo develop for a number of reasons: can't work with others and are greedy shitbags, can't find the right fit to help, or somewhere in between.

Yet here is thing as well: there are always going to be new games coming out. And there is always going to be a new game to spark some interest to hold out till the next update. It's a circle of life here.

Update happens - Play update - Find new games/play updated favorite games - Repeat as often.

It's almost like that's simply the amount of time it takes to make these games in high quality for a solo developer with a few helping hands at the side. :Kappa:

Dunnoa bout DPC, but Caribdis has been improving the visuals of Eternum. The renders today look much better than the ones back in 0.1. That means he's not only learning new stuff and successfully applying it to the game, he's also looking for new stuff to turn his game prettier and cooler. In other words, he's keeping his game up to date with whatever he can get in his disposal. The only visuals that can really compete with him are super-good DAZ stuff, but those - lo and behold - also take lots of time of prep.
Oh, and Cari keeps constant communication with his player base, so he knows how to keep the hype up and running.

In the AVN world, there's no way to get great-looking and content-rich updates with short development times. It's simply impossible.

Both DPC and Caribdis already builded their fandom, a fandom who will stay with them until the completion of their visual novels. New visual novels will arise, but that doesn't mean they will maintain the same level in both the stories, visuals and everything else. I have seen AVNs with amazing visuals and animations, and they're now abandoned.

Besides, you're wrong about saying both had "amazing visuals at the start", (I'm not going to talk about DPC because this is Eternum's thread) Caribdis has become better and better with the visuals and animations. Even in OiAL you can see the difference between the first episode and the last one.

i checked the walkthrough (just to enough to make sure a couple of choices i made a while back are still fine. There are some that can completely lock you from what i heard with Dalia that are a bit sneaky) i am somehow still in 0.4. i mean i am taking breaks from it to not just blow through it like i normally do, but it's also a testament to the amount of content packed in. i still have yet to pick a favorite but heavily leaning Luna and Annie rn.

I've been thinking about it and as much as i'd love to see the "full Carter experience" i think it would be a bit out of character from what we now know.
If we have a scene with Orion + one while another is watching i'll be happy enough. Just please complete the 0.7 Penny's wish

Noticed that there's a horror tag there. I'm not really good with jumpscares, how bad is the horror?
It's that shitty horror where nothing is actually that scary but it plays a really loud noise just to startle you artificially, it's really fucking annoying and there's quite a bit of it.
