Based on how she treated him when they first met, it felt like she treats every guy the same, and no one before him ever broke through that wall. That’s exactly where the whole thing about “Prince Charming” she was waiting for revolves around, at least for me.

In my case it's more to do with character consistency: like if I wrote my character to have certain traits (i.e. waiting for Prince Charming because Nana said he will show up someday) then I wouldn't try to have them do something that would seemingly contradict that (i.e. being sexually promiscuous) unless there's a story/character reason behind it (i.e. Alex actually hating her Nana so she does things to besmirch her memory).
