VN - Ren'Py - Eternum [v0.8.5 Public] [Caribdis]

I've played Eternum three times now so I feel it's a good time to write an objective and honest review about it.

Pros

Honey Select 2 character models. All Honey Select female character models that I've seen in every Honey Select game that I've played has the same problem. Their lower half (hips, ass, and thighs) is disproportional in size to their normal sized upper half (torso, neck, and head). Their hips, ass, and thighs are twice the size they should be. They also often have short or normal sized torsos with very long legs (unnatural). This makes them look like cartoons whether the author wishes this or not. I have yet to see a female Honey Select character model that doesn't have grossly exaggerated features. It isn't a big issue or a deal breaker but it is annoyingly unrealistic at times. Congrats to all the players that love big hips and big asses though!

Most of the characters in the game are between the ages of 18 and 25 (at least those close to the MC). The way the various characters act and behave is what you'd find in a modern day Middle School (ages 11-13). They often act immature, inexperienced, and have the life experience of a 12 year old. A great example of this is with the MC taking the various LIs on dates. They act like they've never been on a date before. They are super nervous, don't know what to expect, and don't know how to act once they are on the date. This is exactly what 11-13 year olds experience in Middle school. The comparison is so real it's uncanny! After playing through the game three times, I can confidently say that the game actually takes place in Middle School but with 18-25 year old characters (IMO).

The last problem is the lack of actual romance between the MC and the various LIs in Eternum. Yes, the sex scenes are some of the best on F95Zone, however how you get to them is what I sometimes take issue with. Nearly all lewd scenes in the game are done as "Friends with Benefits". In most cases the MC just "stumbles" upon the sex/lewd scenes. They find an excuse to take off one article of clothing and then it escalates from there. "Oh, I did that to you (made you hard)? I guess it's my responsibility to take care of it." Then the sex scene unfolds. This is just one example. The bottom line is that they usually find an excuse to remove clothing and then the scene escalates from there. Almost no romance leads up to the sex scenes. They are just great friends and have a bit of harmless sexy fun together. There are some romantic hugs and romantic kisses but they play a very minor role in the relationships.

Conclusion

Overall, Eternum is a near masterpiece! Yes, there are things I dislike about the game but the execution is brilliant overall! Everything works and flows naturally. The writing and humor set the game far above most others on this site. We finally have a game that isn't riddled with English errors!

Everything from the unique characters to the perfect game pace make this game brilliant! The story is original and very compelling! I generally don't play a game more than once unless I really like it and almost never three times. Me playing the game three times is a testament to how good it is!

Hats off to the author for a near perfect masterpiece! I highly recommend this game and encourage others to give it a try!

Eternum is the best AVN I've played so far.

The writing is top-notch, I'm really intrigued by it, I honestly want to know more about the world and the mysteries it contains. It left me with this feeling of wanting more, something that's rare for an AVN do to me.

The girls are very likeable, lovely and adorable, the relationships feel very organic and natural as they progress and the game manages to keep them unique, interesting, and compelling... I couldn't help but fall in love with Nancy and Nova.

Animations are some if not the best I've seen in a AVN game and they all feels quite special when you finally get them, a major event for the characters, it's good that the dev went with a “quality over quantity” mentality.

Overall a 5/5 game, I can't wait for the next update... especially more Nancy and Nova stuff.

Just what I expected from this game. I saw a lot of people praising it and I gotta say it's deserved. From the story to the characters the world building, it's all top notch.

Now let's talk about my favorite aspect, The Animations.
Holy shit do they look good, I've never seen animations like this in all my years of playing Adult Games. Eternum definitely has the best Animations in this genre of games. What I also liked is the MC, He's a real G, taking what he wants but at the same he's caring and genuine to all the other characters.
Simply 10/10 game no flaws whatsoever for me. I hope to have more fun playing this game and I'm sure I will, especially seeing 0.7 ending it got me shocked. I'm super excited for the next update!!

If F95 decides to make a Hall of Fame, this game should be on top of the list.

Seriously though, I've finished playing this game a few days ago after finished Once in a Lifetime and I'm totally speechless about how good this game is. It improves and exceed all the expectations based on the foundation of OiAL.
If you have played Once in a Lifetime, then you are surely familiar with the pros and what this game can offer.

The *only* major downside of this game is: It may set your standard to the next level that surely, will be hard for you to find an alternative options when you've finished the game.

This is the first VN i played, and it didn't disappoint. as a guy who mostly play RPGM, I definitely enjoyed this one. The story and animation are really good and got me hooked into it. Even all the characters are really likable, Dalia is my fav haha she's just so hot. I'm really looking forward to the next update.

The story is well written and consistent. The pacing is perfect and tight with a very, very entertaining story even if not groundbreaking. One of the few AVNs where every LI is extremely appealing and likeable for everyone, which is good because this is a harem game. You have choices who to do things with but that's just choosing to miss content, not have alternate routes.

In terms of visuals and the VN reading experience, this is hands down the best looking 3D VN on this site and probably the best looking ever, unless you despise the Honey Select 2 art style. Quality animation, amazing sound and soundtrack choices, perfectly written characters with the hottest and best paced lewd scenes ever. Every sex scene feels special and important to the characters, instead of just three pumps and a few scene changes. 5 star game all the way.

Really solid game for this website. Lately F95zone or perhaps the adult gaming market is going through a downturn of terrible japanese rpgm/VN, lazy ai art games, patreon milking developers and generally uninspiring boring games with semi good artwork. Eternum is a slow burn kind of game. You build up your relations with these cast of characters. The relationships feel very organic and natural as they progress and it really is a fun immersive style SAO type of game.

I`m giving it 4 stars due to the fact that the game isn`t finished and the story in my opinion gets a little weird with the mom character and the Rome style world. In-addition the art/animations aren`t bad but they're not stunning either its above average. Nonetheless great game.

Eternum Online is a sandbox mmorpg in which you get to write your own story, instead of following a laid— No wait. But close enough.

Eternum is a standard, a pillar of games +18. The game isn't finished, but as it stands it grants almost everything you could wish for.

A good; story, renders, pacing, cast, plot, writing, freedom of choice and humor. Ok, the last one is subjective, but anyway.

Satisfaying moments? That "Fuck yeah" feeling? You got it. Nice soundtrack/effect usage? Yeah. I could go on and on sucking his dick, but to get to the point; You are looking at reviews to see if the game is worth it? Absolutely. Will you like it? Probably, cant guarantee nothing in this world, but it, a hundred porcent deserve a chance, 1 hour playing.

Just...wow.

Caribdis has set the bar so damn high with this one. The game already starts with a high level of quality in both the renders, writing, and pacing, but the latest updates (0.6 and 0.7 as of this review) are just phenomenal. I actually found myself pacing myself as I was playing, knowing I was getting closer to the end of the current content. When was the last time you could say that about a porn game.

Eternum gets so many things right, it's daunting to think about trying to list them all. While the virtual-world plot setting isn't exactly new, Eternum does a great job of grounding it in reality and weaving it through every facet of the world. Exploring each new server is always exciting and the 'sandbox' areas deliver on the chose your own adventure feeling without overstaying their welcome. There are some critical decision making paths, as well as some subtle dialogue ones, sprinkled throughout to keep things interesting, but not immersion-breaking by having you make selections pointlessly. While all these things are great, what separates Eternum from the pack is both the writing and the character development.

I suspect there are times when developers add dialogue options or sandbox areas so that the player doesn't get bored 'just reading' along with the VN - and they're likely right in many cases. How do you keep someone engaged with just reading along? By writing really fucking well is the answer here. The story is not only interesting and punchy, but there are times when it's genuinely funny. It keeps you hooked with intrigue, but gives you actually decent breadcrumbs instead of obtusely veering around it for ages.
And somehow, the downtown spent in the 'real-world' feels like a welcome pallet cleanser when it happens. One would think it would get jarring between the mundanities of these character's normal lives juxtaposed with the fantastical worlds they explore, but they are just as good, and arguably sometimes better for some scenes! And the secret sauce here is a simple ingredient: the characters.

It's a very common theme to have various potential love-interests for the player to select and with that, you of course want to give them thematically different options to select from. But rarely do you see every single love interest be enticing, realistic. and uniquely interesting. It's not just that they're so different, it's that everything that surrounds them bleeds personality. I mean, you have two characters in Annie and Luna who could both fit the 'shy reserved girl' trope, but executed in two completely different ways. I pray to whatever deity is listening that there is a harem ending because I genuinely have no idea who I would pick. My current favorite always seems to be whoever I encountered last. Truly impressive.

If you want a really engaging VN that starts good, only gets better, and that also happens to have some excellent porn scenes then play this game. Just do it. You're welcome. And when you're done do the smart thing and open your wallet to throw whatever you have at Caribdis, because the man fucking deserves it.

The game has great visuals for a Honey select game, it is clear that aspect of the game has been worked on very well.

Unfortunately, the LI are fricking annoying and unlikeable, most of them, the MC is a pushover simp, the story is somewhat interesting, only aspect of the game that stands out a bit, and one or two girls that are decent, but all in all a big disappointment, was expecting a lot more from such a popular game.

Still, it has a good chunk of content to play through, the dialogs and the spelling is good enough and overall it is just a good game to play while not thinking much about it, so a 3/5 for me.

Absolutly incredible game, it's impossible to find any flaws, captivating story, soundtrack and insane character designs. all the girls are awsome and you cannot help but fall in love with each of them!

This is up there as one of (if not the best) the best games available on this site.

Extremely well written, multiple unique likeable characters, great animations, and a Dev that communicates regular with his patreons.

If ever there was a game/dev to support, its this one.

A must for anyone on this site. It has Build up, suspense, teasing, laughter, and a fair bit of lewd content.

It perfectly strikes the balance of knowing its a porn game but also having a story engaging enough that you are invested and not in it just for a quick fap.

like so many other reviews, this is just top tier. animation is great, all of the LIs are just amazing (physically and personality wise), and the story telling along with the humor is top notch.

The Girls. seriously. every. single. girl. there is something to love about each one. all of them are different, but all of them are best.

i have laughed out loud so many times while playing through this. the comedic timing and just the pure wackiness and legendary characters pull you in and keep you locked. I've never been more invested in a VN. i get so engrossed in the story and characters, i actually start dreading when i can tell that I'm getting close to a (honestly incredible) sex scene (seriously, the sex scenes are amazing.) because i want the story to keep going uninterrupted.


Each server is also so well written that i honestly forget about the game as a whole and get completely immersed in each setting.

if you liked Once in a Lifetime, this kicks it out of the water. so do yourself a favor and EXPERIENCE this VN.

Eternum [v0.7.5 Public]

The game is amazing, I started playing it with low expectations since I'm not a graphic novel guy and it has not been able to impress me in any other way than positive.

The story is hilarious, has a very interesting and original plot, and is accompanied by a very good graphics and music. The game is very immersive, you really feel inside the story that is told, and the characters are magnificent, each with their own personality, desires and flaws, it is difficult not to appreciate them.

In the H section, there is a lot of variety of scenes and animations of very good quality and uncensored, although it lacks something more quantity that I hope to be adding with updates, plus I miss voice actresses although the latter does not seem to me the most relevant.

Perhaps the biggest drawback I see to this game is that it is only in English, it would be nice if it could be more accessible to people by adding translations.

Undoubtedly anyone who wants to get started in graphic novels should start with this one, unfortunately it will take several years to finish it, but if they keep the work like this, it will certainly be worth it.

I give this game an 8.8 out of 10.

The best written AVN hands down.
The characters are interesting, and the plot moves at a good pace.
It never becomes too predictable and tropes are used as a spice instead of the meal. The renders are well made and you can tell a lot of effort went into them. The jokes and visual gags are actually funny, (a rarity in avn's).

This is the first time I've felt the need to make a review for a game here. First off I just want to say, this game is amazing, clever, funny, and beautiful. From the first few minutes into Eturnum (the in-universe game) seeing the flying camera go through the futuristic city, I was majorly impressed. Only one other Adult game has captivated me like this, which Ill mention shortly from now. My love for this game has already lead me to download their other game, and If its even half as good as this, I know that too will be a masterpiece.

There is quite a few games using 3d models and animations, but this game takes it to a NEW level. Everything feels so fluid and professional, I actually feel bad that I got to experience this without being a patron, a mistake I will soon correct. This feels like genuinely well made game, even without the perspective of a sex game. This game has what I would call the 'Katawa Shoujo' effect, you got into the game for one obvious reason, but along the way the world, characters, and story became what you really care about. I understand some people prefer less story and fluff in their adult games, but I beg you, please give this game a try, even if it takes a few hours to get to what you care about.

Something that's quite rare in a game like this is true depth to its characters, some of the characters may appear to be a trope at first, but as you go through, the characters start to feel more real. Seeing these character arcs play out gave me so much satisfaction. The only character who I feel gets short changed is Nancy, a lot of her growth happens either very fast or completely off screen, and its a little sad that it doesn't feel like there's a slow burn for her. I have a super big bias, but I feel like Luna is the best character this game has to offer, an incredibly wholesome slowburn romance, where you get to meet her family, and everyone is engaging and a pleasure to see on screen. Lunas character is not one ill forget anytime soon, in fact im almost tempted to make some fanart of her, thats how much I enjoyed her character.

The visuals were a solid 10/10, and I say that as not the biggest fan of 3d games, but there is one major flaw in the character design process, the honey select? ( think that's what its called) character creator does not know how to create older women, and its a big shame. I understand that the story tries to say "Oh Nancy looks incredibly young for her age", but whats the excuse for Luna's grandmother? She looks like shes 40 years old with dyed silver hair. Not the biggest issue, but when its the only complaint I have about the whole game? that says something about the quality of the game.

This is just my personal cherry on top, I am a huge fan of mythology of any culture, and I study it whenever I can for fun, and seeing so many references made me smile like an idiot. I'm rooting for Chang's happy ending with Micaela, as well as Caribdis' success in the future. Amazing job

This is the game that got me into AVNs.

The story is so amazing, its got comedy, thriller, and some of the most insane situations ever.

I'd also recommend playing their other game, Once in a Lifetime if you also enjoyed Eternum.

Not really a fan of the visual of the game, honey select models are very basic, also the plot is really streched thin to accomodate the harem portion.

Some good choices in music & art, but the whole package leaves much to be desired.

I feel there is a bit of a character bloat issue as well and had a bit of trouble reminding myself of all characters.

This VN is amazing! The story has an interesting plot, tons of humor, and character development. Normally I'm not a fan of the Honey Select models, but this one does an excellent job of making them so much better. The sex scenes are sprinkled throughout the story, so if you are just looking to beat it like it owes you money this may not be the one till late game. 5/5 stars

One of the best games out, and the one I'm waiting for most. Actual funny comedy, compelling story, every girl is an absolute 10. I found myself thinking about the game and story even long after I played it. This dev is to be cherished.
