That part really bothered me. Why are the main characters all so OP? I mean, beside Orion, they are supposed to be all regular Eternum player, albeith even top tier players. How come literally no one of the other player seem capable to compete with them even by far? It feels like there are zero stake, just because they are all too good and every other player is no match. I really think the game starts to need a bit of course correction.

How come literally no one of the other player seem capable to compete with them even by far? It feels like there are zero stake, just because they are all too good and every other player is no match. I really think the game starts to need a bit of course correction.

None of them are regular Eternum players though? Nova, Alex, Annie and Luna are supposed to be extremely OP, but for example, without good team play they would have died to the praetoreans in 0.2. Dalia already lost to one random user and without Orion she probably would have lost against the other brother because apparently Jerry is fucking useless. Then there's the fact that the collector could solo Nova, Annie and Orion at the same time in one second thanks to a bunch of lasers summoned by a silly robot. You also must remember that the members invited to the house were selected because of their lies not their strength, that was the whole point. And the ones they fought in this update were strategists, one of them leading a big army, and the other gave you a pretty explicit speech about how individual strength doesn't mean shit in Eternum.

None of them are regular Eternum players though? Nova, Alex, Annie and Luna are supposed to be extremely OP, but for example, without good team play they would have died to the praetoreans in 0.2. Dalia already lost to one random user and without Orion she probably would have lost against the other brother because apparently Jerry is fucking useless. Then there's the fact that the collector could solo Nova, Annie and Orion at the same time in one second thanks to a bunch of lasers summoned by a silly robot. You also must remember that the members invited to the house were selected because of their lies not their strength, that was the whole point. And the ones they fought in this update were strategists, one of them leading a big army, and the other gave you a pretty explicit discourse about how individual strength doesn't mean shit in Eternum.

Yes, i agree that until the last update things were ok, even considered they menage to con an entire professional operation at the casino. I'm bothered that in the last one they basically overcome an entire army almost by themselves no sweat. There isn't a second where they seem in any danger or stress. I think it's becoming too much too easy. And this arms the involvment of the players, i think. Even if they are all extremely good player, it doesn't looks credible that in all the eternum servers there is almost noone that, at least, make them put any effort. Take Alex for instance. She uses ONE SPELL, which maybe is very powerfull and pretty rare, but she sweeps an entire trench worth of soldiers armed with guns. Com'on!

You must forget the part,. where Alex and Nova literally killed Praetorians. . all the girls are High level players. But it's not like they killed the entire enemy army just the 7 of them all by themself. .
There were a whole Army there. The girls were just deployed in strategic key areas, and Alex was even wounded, and saved By Nova, while the 2 moron who Luna took care of , were obviously total noobs..

and to be fair just like with Regular MMORPG, the was majority of the players are always, avarage players, and just a relatively small part of them are the high tier Endgame Raid players, and those are usually way overpowered compared to avarage palyers.

The story pretty much very early shown us, that all the girl beside Nancy and Penny, are pretty much High Tier players, by their own. all it happened is that Now they Group up as a team, or " Guild " if you wil. of course they gonna be stronger.

I totally remember. But that's the exploit, in the economy of the story. The lucky strike. If we go like "Meh, the girls are strong enough to kill pretorians on an average day, there is basically no player on Eternum who is as strong as them, they can just kill whoever they meet, zero effort" where are the stakes?
A story works if the main character is in danger and they have to find the strength to get out of them. Take John Wick for instance. We start the first movie and they tell the audience that John Wick is the most badass killer around. He's better then anyone else. Fine. Yet through the 4 movies he meets plenty of hitmen who are (almost) at his level who are damn hard to kill. And when he doesn't there are a ton of enemies everywhere to keep him busy. You know he will win, but the movie makes it look like he can die any other minute. Those are stakes. If he just walked easely killing everyone straight to the final boss to shot him down yawning the movie would be no fun.

The girls are simply a bit of Mary Sue characters, there is no dancing around the bush about that. Even Penny and Nancy who are both supposedly very new to the game have already managed outstanding feats in Eternum (especially Nancy). If your suspension of disbelief can't cope with that you won't have too much fun with the game, I'm afraid.

Then again: Outside of Alex killing that trench with like...six or so soldiers none of them really did something completely outstanding, if I remember correctly (also that fight nearly killed her). Luna defeated two dimwits with her summonings and Nova killed one guy from afar. It is very much implied, that Nancy bought the army of her Roman Empire to the server that actually beats the Wagner Group.

Also one can make the argument that Eternum isn't a "normal" MMO. So your 18hours 7 days a week super nerd won't really get far in Eternum, since you actually need a certain athleticism and charisma in the real world to become powerful in Eternum. Just playing it for 18 hours every day while doing little else outside of sleeping and eating in the real world, wouldn't really make you powerful.

I both agree and kind of disagree, there is a mortality issue. We know that Jerry was level 39(?) and ended up dying in one hit, and that they are being hunted down by Thanatos who has Hyas. While Yes, the girls are not over powered level wise, It just bothers me that they are rarely struggling when it comes to mortality, besides the andromeda section of the story that depending on select choices, we can die (someone said Annie can as well but Idk if that is true). I think add some high risk scenarios where there is no absolute victory route and are forced to run away (and maybe some character resets(deaths) based on choices) would be good for the pacing.

True. But what about MMA athletes that put a gaming suit on, or weapons entusiasts, actual trained fighters and so on? I mean we are talking of average girls, with a good athlete among them, and a lot of characters seems to rely on magic, which is probably not related to any fisique du role.
But don't take me wrong, the game is still great. I just think that Caridbis shouldn't make it look too easy for the 'serious' parts and not to only focus on the comedy.

Well, I blame Thanatos , he probably killed most of those player who could be danger, and take their gem of doom, and reset them back to level 1. .

BTW, we can actually fuck up in this episode again, and almost lose everything.
and I'm sure the stake gonna higher from now on . There is not many who who has Gem of Doom Beside Thanatos, and We not Ready for him even if Orion is OP.

But don't take me wrong, the game is still great. I just think that Caridbis shouldn't make it look too easy for the 'serious' parts and not to only focus on the comedy.

The thing is the first part just wasn't meant as a serious scene. The theme not withstanding the music and tone make it very clear that it was meant as a "let our characters shine" moment that is meant to be fun and give each of them some nice action without actual suspense. Suspense comes more toward the very end of the episode.
