arguably 0.9 might not even have 4 scenes and focus on lore given how little lore we had in 0.8 and how much potential for lore exposition 0.9 have given the cliffhanger.
i mean to end it the way it ended and have the cliffhanger boil down to "only thing that comes out of this is sex scene with blue haired elf for her simps" and then go back to chasing harem with rest of girls would be kind of boring to me. I hope we get some answers in 0.9 about eternum, thanatos, calypso and why is she a weapon, orion, the founder... there is just so much stuff that can be tackled in 0.9 with how 0.8 ended that i dont care if we get less sex scenes in return in fact i am so desperate for some lore dump that if i had to choose between more sex or more lore i'd say make it 2 scenes only and lot of dialogue as long those two are calypso and luna
hell, i wont even mind if cari turns calypso into main girl and bring her into main page as long its done properly XD

Considering there's 5 more chapters to go (assuming Cari sticks with the currently planned 13 total chapters and not truncate it again to speed things up), I'm guessing the lore dump we're going to get will only cover the stuff Caly mentioned plus possibly some additional info on Anima and the Eldari (plus some stuff that will possibly link Idriel and Anima that will fly over Orion's head). The ten gems too and some foreshadowing on Orion's deteriorating state (which he is still going through, if the color of his nails are any indication), but that would depend if there's any knife-ears who's old enough to recognize what they really are (cause Caly sure doesn't, and that's either because she's too young to know or her time in that prison box reaaaaally messed her memories big time).

Lore on Idriel, the Syndicate, the Weapons of Atlas and the current state of Eternum will probably have to wait until a chapter or two before the finale. I feel like the "Idriel is Anima/Psyche" reveal will serve as a good cliffhanger ending in one of the chapters, followed by an infodump explaining what the hell is really going on with Eternum (and maybe a reveal on what the Founder really wants to do with the gems). Not sure how that will be brought into the story though given that Orion doesn't exactly stay in Limbo for long. Maybe something else will trigger it (like the letter given by the Syndicate, perhaps). We'll see, I suppose.

Thanatos seems to have a way to track the gems and move around servers freely tho. Either he's also an Immortal or it's due to Hyas being some sort of portal opener with a limited range compared to Caly. Anyway, he managed to track Orion back in Ogygia when he had a gem, and he managed to get to the World War server but wasn't able to get to Wagner in time. So no doubt he could track Orion down, just like he did at the end of 0.8.

Also Orion staying in the real world won't be a problem to Thanny since the former could just suffer a bleeding effect while dreaming and find himself in Eternum, where the latter will likely use it as an opportunity to strike. And personally it would not surprise me if Thanatos somehow brute forces his way to Hyril'ar in 0.9 just so he could get Orion's gems. Would be scary if so.

Who is meant by “we”?
The released NPCs?
Then Thanatos would be a second iron in Idriel's fire to break the chains.
The creator/founder?
Idriel himself?
Ulysses?
Why was Thanatos able to put Calypso back on the chain in the first place? The same chains that Orion had already freed her from? If Thanatos is an immortal, which is pretty close to the definition after his death in the real world, why do the other immortals remain in the shadows? Together with Thanatos, they would be unstoppable.

i think calypso being first and luna 2nd scene (or at least THE scene in the update) is given. i dont know about penny scene but i think romance is out of the window. Its probably going to be bondage (specifically shibari) that goes too far and then orion reels it back by saying he loves her. so i guess there will be romance but i doubt penny is getting tame vanilla romantic scene, it would be like taking 20 steps backwards.

yeah i am pretty much cool with your idea but i dont want all that lore dump to be dropped in 10 minute exposition that it can just be skipped through and forgotten about. i feel like more than half the players dont even know what we talk about because major part of the lore being discusses was dropped while calypso was naked in the tub and people just skip to get to the fun part

Personally I feel like it sounds like a movie quote (which would be on-brand to Thanny since he quoted Vader back in the World War server), but assuming he's serious about it, then it could track with my personal theory that Thanny is on no one's side but his own, and what he wants is to basically maintain the status quo of Eternum being a realm where the dead remain in a living undeath and the strong prosper (going by his Ogygia talk). So by "we" I'm assuming him and the endless dead he is forcefully dragging into his fucked-up view of a "better" world, and no one else.

If Thanatos is an immortal, which is pretty close to the definition after his death in the real world, why do the other immortals remain in the shadows? Together with Thanatos, they would be unstoppable.

Immortal sounds more like a name of a specific race or class than a faction name tho (especially given Caly's short infodump on them being descendants of Yliar). Depending on how long Caly was imprisoned, it could be that the Immortals who trapped her have long passed away and that Orion, Thanatos (assuming those two are Immortals), and the Founder are just the latest ones who have awakened their abilities.

I mean Orion can't track a gem on his own and needs to rely on investigation and word of mouth to find them while Thanny could easily track them. It's possible that the latter could sense something that the former couldn't, so it wouldn't surprise me if Mr. Samurai-Terminator COULD track our horndog of a protagonist down, no matter how far he went.

Not to mention I wouldn't really count on the things Orion says with finality. I mean, prior to all this he said he wasn't able to jump between servers, and only thought that he could jump between the location where he jumped from the real world and the server he's been to. And yet during the Alex scene that assumption got debunked. So him not being able to detect Eternum could simply be due to his powers not having reached that level yet (which he could in the next update).

I have to agree that this update felt a little short on lore. Not a lot short, but I looked at some posts before starting the update and I remember seeing someone say there were 3 new love scenes and thinking, "Wow, with how far apart those are that's going to be a ton of content!" But then it was bing, bang, boom, and we're done. Someone mentioned it seems like things are starting to wrap up, and I have to say, I really hope not. We don't know anything about the Founder, or what Thanatos is up to, or the "NPCs," we don't know how Bardot or Axel fit in, we don't even know where the last gem is yet. If all of that gets wrapped up in one or two updates it will feel almost as cheap as when a VN just ends and jumps to a where are they now type wrap up. I just started OiaL again after not finishing a long time ago, and all I'll say is Caribdis has come a long way as a writer. It's so hard to find a VN that doesn't make me wonder if the author has ever had a conversation with a real human person before. Eternum deserves to be fully fleshed out.


My only real issue with this update was Orion flirting with a waitress one time and Annie just peacing out completely. Really? Annie? Best friend Annie? I've had a crush on you since we were 10 Annie? The same Annie who locked him in a bubble just a minute ago to prove herself to him? We know she's ok with sharing because if you don't lose her she literally lists off the other girls he's with by name. I get that the waitress was a rando and she'd be upset, but at this point a path ender without some sort of major betrayal seems really out of place. It would have been nice to see her stand up for herself even more so with the flirting.


Anyway, just my 2 cents. August feels like forever away.

You took the wrong path when talking to the waitress and Sweet Annie, go back and play diff choices and you will see a side of Annie that HELL would not entertain.

Annie knows that other girls are close to him with the time they spent together whereas flirting with a random waitress while literally on a first date just shows he is not serious to any of them and that he is still in his playboy phase when Annie wants an actual relationship. Very valid path ender imo

Yeah fair. Maybe Thanatos will be the reason of the genocide of Hylriar the syndicate guy was talking about. Orion will have to stop it since breaking the chains part is coming true. Wonder if Calypso will remain there after this or return with him to fulfill his goal to find the gems since they're partners. So much to explore next update

This reminds me that Calypso will outlive Orion and friends.......that's sad (unless they find something to become permanent part of Eternum like hinted at the very beginning with Dalia and Annie)
