Out of curiosity, are there any changes to the plot depending on whether you choose to collect the alien egg or set the bomb in Andromeda?
You get more backstory (IIRC) if side with the stupid guy - but I don't think it actually changes anything.
I know I still have two large chapters to go, but this reminded me.
I’ve seen Alien3, I know how this ends! I know why the xenomorph didn’t attack Annie! Plus, the machines checking everyone? Yep, don’t trust Annie if she ends up pregnant or her little tummy bloated… poor Annie  :sneaky: :Kappa:

The xenomorph did attack Annie (and Orion). But it happened at the same time they teleported AND the station exploded (holy convenience, Batman!), which explains why they were covered in alien goo. Also, if you haven't gotten the amulet from Chop-Chop Annie dies alongside you and is latter said you went there again to recover the Gem of Doom.

To be fair, Annie likely has better chances in recouping her lost levels given her current support group/party compared to Jerry who has a habit of constantly dying due to bad luck or being too gung ho when it comes to doing stuff in Eternum.

Don't think Eternum levels matter when it comes to learning magic. Could be mistaken though.
Spells are level-gated so levels do matter as far as that aspect of the VRMMO is concerned.

All of the level gates we know of are pretty low, and level doesn't seem to affect aptitude at all. It's implied pretty early on that levels are mostly (but not entirely) just for show. Also as you said, Annie is a serial grinder, whatever the level req is for the nuke, she'd absolutely have already reached that offscreen, especially since the party had already killed quite a few xenomorphs at that point.

I guess the other thing is that we don't really know whether the level 2 requirement for magelight is for use or just for learning, since that isn't fully explained. If it's for use then that means the nuke would require her to level back up to use it, but if it's just for learning it then she'd only have to have learned it once when she reached the req. I think level req for learning rather than use makes more sense as far as Eternum's magic system goes, since skill and aptitude aren't necessarily based on level but rather affinity with the game system and individual experience. Major spoiler: This also makes the most sense with what we know of the world of Eternum as a whole. The true multiverse doesn't care about player levels at all, they're likely just a means to gamify the multiverse experiment and maybe keep people with low affinity from getting too deep too fast. The actual use of magic in Eternum would be based off of the user's skill rather than an arbitrary number that only the neural implant cares about.

Personally I think the level gating of magic is tied to the idea that Idriel is the one making the "VRMMO" system possible, as without her the projections will possibly not have the ability to utilize certain skills that they have and simply be out-of-body copies of their material selves in the "real world." This is based off from the mysterious guy at the Ulysses party implying that the "developers" - and by extention the "players" - don't really have the inherent power to shape Eternum, and have to rely on relics like the Gems or the Weapons of Atlas or possibly being gifted with powers from a godlike source (i.e. Orion's powers being linked to Idriel/The Void given that her image is the one he sees during certain times that he activates his powers) in order to have an edge in Eternum. It's that last point that makes me think magic too is bestowed upon the players by Idriel (who has level-gated it to keep up with the VRMMO illusion), which would make sense even more if the Idriel-Anima theory ends up being legit.

Good update, I had fun. I was wondering when the little creepy girl gave us the letter and told us not to read it at that point in time, is there even a point to that part of the story? I didnt read the letter, so I hope at some point, we actially get to see what that letter was for..

Yeah, like Dorfnutter said, a big part of the difference is Jerry's stupid ass keeps getting killed. He had only regained a couple of levels by the time they were imprisoned on the Semper Invicta server and then couldn't keep his dumb mouth shut. On the heist distraction team, he got sniped after saying not even 4 words. Frankly, I'm having trouble believing he was ever level 39 to begin with. He must've done all of Eternum's "pick 17 flowers and return them to me here by my cooking pot" quests or something.
