Definitely play now, one of the best games here, quite long aswell, depends of how fast you play tho. Quite replayable aswell, by the time i finished it it felt like i wanted to replay again. In case of waiting, what if it would be post 0.9 now, would u wait a year? just DO it, the only "downside" that it prolly will highly increase ur expectations of the other games u meant to play
More like if it was expected in a month or so. I don't think it is, but I didn't find a good estimate.

A lot of people were estimating the end of October for the highest-tier release... But it has been an awfully long time since the 80% update, and as he usually updates the progress image every 6% - I don't think it's coming until November at the earliest, possibly even December.

So if you really want 0.9 to be part of your playthrough - you probably should wait till November to start.

I could be wrong, and Caribdis might post a progress update of much greater than 6% next time - but following trends...

I don't follow the development of Eternum that close, so is there some problems, a death in the family or something?
I think last update with new content I played was a long time ago
I can't really answer that bc I don't either. I'm not on discord or anything like patreon or whatever. But I'm pretty sure they've been going beast mode on development since day 1. I can say tho, A LOT OF WORK, AND CARE goes into this. I mean just look at it. Great, timeless RPGs and such, aren't made in a year or even two, hoenstly. Perfection takes time. It is never rushed. Each update itself brings a huge amount of content. But if you're only looking at it as "it's taken this much time" or even "it's had this many hours of work put into it" and "so it should have this many hours of content to match that" you'll only ever be disappointed I feel like. Not that those are your exact thoughts or even close. Just saying. Plus, when you reach a certain level of quality, the time and effort required starts to get much much higher, on an incline. More accelerated or exponential, rather than a slow rise. so I mean quality in more than one sense. Quality of the game, the art, the writing, and especially the animations and can't forget original soundtrack music. And quality of the base engine and foundations. I think if something bad or tragic were to happen, we would all definitely know. Well, that is if they made the decision to let people know in the first place (otherwise it is none of our business), and it wouldn't be a mystery to ponder. So with updates being huge to where it's about 10% (or roughly 12% as another stated) of progress on an update per month, understand that a game like this, on such a grand scale, couldn't have been finished in a matter of just a year or two. All I can say is try to be patient. The wait is certainly going to be worth it. I'm only just getting to around 0.6, but I stopped there to take a break over the summer. Way too hot, way too busy, unfortunately. But each .1 of that is a great and fulfilling amount of content in my opinion. Definitely keep an eye on it or at least keep it in the back of your mind, so that when a new update comes, you'll maybe be ready for it. And especially notified of new, official update releases. Supporting on his officials wouldn't hurt at all. But it won't just make it go faster either. I'm currently not a paying supporter, so I can't say to. Though it is the fastest and most reliable way to get updates. There's the itch page, which I do happen to have. This page just isn't official so there's no way to get ONLY official updates, rather than a ping every time a new post is written by any random person lol. Anyhow, I hope this helps at least a bit, though like I said it's not a direct answer to your question.

Have heard much about this game. Lots of speculation on 0.09 release. Looks like waiting will still be a few months, so play now or wait for it? Have many others to play, too.

And, yes: I typed my name wrong when registering. Fucking dyslexia...

I recommend you start now.
It is a pretty long play-through. I started a couple of months ago, and I just finished the last scene (won't give spoilers, but it is an unexpected cliffhanger, and it's good!).

The story and presentation is done very well (with a couple English language quirks, but not many at all), and lots of funny moments/great sense of humor. It is very addicting to play, and you have to force yourself to leave to get rest, only to continue the next day.

Current dev cycle is just cursed. Early in development one of the Royalty-Free Music sites where Cari got his music changed ToS to no longer allow AVN devs to use their content so he had to replace 50+ tracks with AI generated music made by volunteers on Discord (this set him back a few weeks according to him). Then there's the recent Itch.io adult games debacle that kinda rattled him a bit since that's one of the major sources where he gets new players (and thus new subs) so he had to destress from that situation.

Still, update is going to be released before the year ends, though had it not been for the aforementioned issues he would've released it a lot earlier than intended (his words, not mine).
Can someone explain to me the legality of such drastic ToS changes that apply retroactively? Sounds extremely illegal, even for U.S. courts.

I'll probably be off by a day or two, but here's all the numbers for 0.9:

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Again, it may be off by a few days, but that's the general improvement as put into the Offtopic Eternum thread.
They mostly check with my own numbers, except 44%, 50% and 56%, which I have written down as:

Percentage doneDate
44%
24-may-2025
50%
09-jun-2025
56%
25-jun-2025

So basically yes, it's around 1% every 3 days, and all my estimates point to the first half of November.
