I think Nova's progress is pretty normal. Y'know, for a shy introvert with very few friends who is rather suddenly hard crushing on a guy she has known for barely a few weeks and being pushed forward due to various stimuli (Eternum and aphrodisiac). How would you feel? I'd certainly have some reservations.

It's likely tied to a future bad end. Kinda like in "Once in a Lifetime" - Caribdis' first game - where you could choose to be an absolute ass to Stabby Mike - one of the major characters of that game - early on and you don't get to see the consequence of that action until the very end of the story.

aphrodisiac are very much over exaggerated in the various Porn medias.
Caribdis, is very transparent to make sure that anything what Nova and Orion does is already something they want to do anyway.

I'm thinking there might be a time where you do need to die? Remember how the MC's powers only really kicked into gear after he got speared through by Thanatos, could be related?

Eternum is just a masterpiece, i have to say it, the characters, music, the story, comedy, lewd scenes, the way the story is told, the setting with the graphic quality combined makes for such a great atmospheric game, its unreal, not many VN's can do it.
