Another thing to think about: Since currently our money, even outside Eternum, is Eternals those are probably gonna lose a lot of their value, at least until Ulysses can spin things to get back on their feet.

Or it could be a result of Nova's USB trojan (which is probably what U. will claim if they learn of it) or even something Axel's doing...

Outside money won't be affected. And if somehow Eternal's value goes down it won't happen overnight

They were specified as being pegged to the dollar IIRC.

But we were unsuccessful in planting the USB so this has something to do with Syndicate or Thanatos. Although if its actually Syndicate who did this? Then sacrificing 600k people is not something I will stand for however important the reason is

Great update as usual, the cliffhanger was pretty much expected at some point considering we're dealing with essentially Sword Art Online style VR, and with the MC saying in this very episode "I'll never take them into Eternum directly again" it was guaranteed the "game" would force him to keep taking them in without using the neural implant.

I hope the big twist is that Eternum is not some virtual world but reality and the neural implants just use a kind of portal magic. I also would not be surprised to find out that those 600k~ who "died" aren't actually all dead, like Thanatos.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. The implant is just another means for people who don't have "immortal powers" to travel to different worlds. But I don't think Orion would use the teleport with the girls again unless it's absolutely necessary

I kinda doubt Caribdis will go into the economics of Eternum this deep so this is just speculation based on real life. But think of Ulysses like a bank in this case. An event like just occurred at the end of this episode would cause a "run to the banks" and there is no way that Ulysses could convert all those Eternals back to Dollars. No bank ever could.

BTW, I believe Ulysses was valued to something 30-50 Trillion dollars in game at some point. (I cant remember the exact number). For reference the most valued company in the world today is nVidia valued at 4,64 Trillion dollars currently fueled by the AI "bubble". If a stock valued as high as Ulysses suddenly lost 72% of it's value it would launch the world into a global depression for sure.

Wdym? Afaik we were unsuccessful with the mission and didn't plant the drive Nova provided. So we informed them we'll have to come up with a different plan. Unless... A momentary blackout in the HQ is what's the cause which is unlikely

It depends on your choices, if you failed to plug in USB and run Nova's virus then you fucked up during interview. If you choose correct answers then whole operations is a success.
This however confirms that Nova's virus is not responsible for the genocide, since it's optional to succeed and 600k people die anyway.
