They also voted for Eternum second place in best graphics nomination , what kinda weird, because DAZ/Blender created game with even average visuals look superior.
But I know that subreddit, they voted on the basis of "I love this game", plus they hate one popular VN and will vote for anything to not let it win (I remember from last year's competition for the best girl in the genre).
But many of these awards, like for me - best HS2 game, best harem, best story, best sci-fi, are well deserved.
Although Eternum is not 100% sci-fi and the setting is more like a techno-magical world.

Congrats Caribdis, Eternum really is a Great Game, definitely one of my favourites. It's been a long time since I truly enjoyed playing an AVN game and Eternum is one of those. Keep up the good work and wishing you all the very best in your future endeavours.

I saw last year’s of voting for the best waifu on that subreddit (our Alex seemed to take second place if I'm not wrong) - voting ended with threats and death wishes in the comments. Some people just go crazy over these games and pixel waifus.

For music alone I agree, there are a bunch with better songs than Eternum - I generally play with sounds off so take my opinion with a pinch of salt, but BaDIK has one of the best OSTs I've ever heard in a AVN (multiple songs added to my playlist).

I am obsessed with the OST on Eternum (at least the ones that play at the most notable plot points), but you're telling me you know automatically more if not better OSTs out there? I know it's a subjective topic, but damn that says a lot.

I'll just put the answer I already did on off-topic thread:

As much as I agree with most of it, let's be honest. Those are just popularity contests. Oailt didn't won the anual prize here in f95zone, although until today continues to be one of the better games on these forums.

There's a reason as to why japanese animation barely wins academy awards, even if they are 525582 times better than US animation.

Don't get me wrong btw, I love Eternum and Caribdis is one of my favorite devs, and I always encourage for people to support him. But unfortunely that kind of contests are just about popularity.

Part of me really wants a side LI character like Jasmine (i think that was her name) from OiaLT
A character that starts off rude and bad but u fuck her into a redemption arc

But I think Maat would fit that archetype really well

It's an HS game, so if competing in an "open" category with Daz and Blender games included should not have placed 2nd over games like Westview Academy, Chasing Sunsets and Midnight Paradise from an objective standpoint.

That‘s the thing - it’s not objective.

I much prefer the HS2 characters in Eternum to any Daz game. There may be a Daz character in a game here or there which I prefer over the Eternum characters, but at a set of characters, to me, there is no game with better character design than Eternum.

Christ this update is proving to be a slow one. I've heard that v10 won't be the last update, which means that at this rate Eternum won't be finished until at minimum halfway through 2026. That's 5 years in development total. But 2027 or 2028 are looking more realistic. The problem I suppose is that by then the tech will be much more advanced; Eternum was the best looking AVN on the market when it came out, and arguably still is when you take into account the quality of the animations and set-pieces, but in 3 or 4 years time it's going to be lagging behind. And no one wants Caribdis to fall into the remaster trap.

I much prefer the HS2 characters in Eternum to any Daz game. There may be a Daz character in a game here or there which I prefer over the Eternum characters, but at a set of characters, to me, there is no game with better character design than Eternum.

One of the benefits of HS(2) is that it avoids the uncanny valley effect of "almost, but not quite" realistic DAZ characters. Average DAZ renders = talking sex dolls, average HS renders = cartoon porn. Yes, top notch DAZ renders beat top notch HS renders, but top notch HS renders (like Eternum) beat the vast majority of DAZ renders.

Well it's a good thing that Cari doesn't want to either.

Doesn't matter if it's gonna lag behind because Cari's quite comfortable with the engine. And he's not planning on dropping it anytime soon.

Cari said either around the end of this month or early March. Honestly I'd rather put more stock to his words than anyone else since he's the one making the game, lol.
