I finish 0.7.5 closing all the path with the love interest. I do feel its funny that Nancy talk that i become a playboy like i goin date to date.. I honestly feel that kinda off cause im not? There some miss here and there, i just feel the MC not feel lonely enough. Even though i should feel that way and just focus entirely on eternum.

My path clearly just me getting bored(finish eternum at 0.6 with full LI, so im curious how polish the loner road works). Kinda curious what going to happen later on too. And surprised that ver 0.6 and 0.7.5 content difference is quite big.

Eternum is and probably will be, de facto, a kinetic novel with only harem ending. You can go different route (if you can even call it that) but I doubt you'll get something solid out of it. I don't think Cari cares much about solo, throuple or monk routes

Sure I understand that, but the story can't always be a "comfort" one. imo this event can be a turning point of actual seriousness of the story. You know, a bit like Naruto Shippuden or One Piece after timeskip. And as you said, Thanatos won't guess it right away. He can go full Kirito mode, and while being strong, being completly oblivious, dumb and without any kind of actual character development.

I really doubt William is feeding him as you mentioned, but there isn't anything that says the opposite as well. That's just theory.

Why not? If this is how Cari wants it, while still including more serious moments, it obviously can be. Just as the reverse could be true. Too much "seriousness" may turn it into a cringy edgelord experience (unless you love "tragedy porn"), just like too much of the opposite can dillute any kind of stakes. This AVN seems to take a rather balanced approach.

Obviously, a Thanatos vs Orion is going to happen at one point, ignoring tropes where Thanathos is suddenly offed and the "true" enemy appears. That is peak power-fantasy setup, though Orions power-up ignoring (huge) level differences was always a bit iffy imo, but I disgress.

He wrote "de facto a kinetic novel" and that isn't too wrong. Yes, there are choices so it isn't an actual kinetic novel. But there really is one "right" canon path through the game and all the other possible paths are technically aberrations from the intended path.

So it is not like BaDIK where you have to choose one LI (or none) and all the choices are technically viable and intended to play through to the end (whatever that may be).

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. What I meant is that on a sci-fi and survival story, to maintain the player hooked, along plotwists and "actually winning", that isn't much appliable on this theme. The game ambient can't always be a mar of roses, it needs thrill, action, actual danger, etc.

If you ask me if it is still too early to have that peak, ok fine. But earlier or later the story will need to go "out of comfort zone". Actually, that also happened for a bit. Confrotation with some enemies, knowing the original of NPCs, knowing that some people are also dying, etc.

Just an example, as much as I shit on SAO, and how fucking bland and boring the MC was, 1 thing they did good, was that sense of danger, of being trapped, of needing to survive, etc, that created the brand. That what was made the viewer hooked on the show on the first episodes, even if the show turns into complete crap just a few episodes afterwards. What good example is on the very first release of the game, when Axel's black friend dies in real life as well. It gives a change of tone.

Benjamin dying didn't change the tone. It along with Orion's nightmare set it right into the kind of mysterious tone that you would expect in a Cariverse title in the same way that the OIAL protag and Judie encountered that cryptic line spouted by the computer in their dad's basement and set the tone for the kind of adventure they were in for...

...at least, it was supposed to except the first four chapters focused more on the slice of life before Cari course-corrected back to the expected tone around the fifth chapter.

Anyway, while I agree that stakes should be raised at some point in this kind of story, the issue is that a major appeal of this title is the server visits and the relationship-building aspects that come with it. So much so that there are people on Cari's Discord advocating for updates where the main story takes a backseat and the focus is on simply hanging out with the girls in some random server doing a random quest and such. However, Cari is pretty steadfast with how he paces his story, though he still makes sure that there's a balance to it by having moments like hanging out with Luna in the barn in 0.7 and learning more about her past (before Orion's horni got the better of him again).

And I guess that's why I disagree with the take that the story has to go full Magnus road trip for the remaining chapters, because as it stands you don't need to rock the storytelling that far in order to up the stakes. Orion fucking up and receiving a sort of penalty for that fuck up that he has to live with until he inevitably redeems himself can still happen without having to cut off the chill relationship building aspect of his journey. In fact, I would argue that that aspect will be needed a lot more now that the story is shifting to Orion rising from his downer moment and becoming the hero he's meant to be, because it'll be his moments with the girls that will ground him from making the same mistakes and making him realize why he needs to be better, not just for the sake of the dead but for the people relying on him.

Film is and has been the pinnacle of media for the last 100 years and will be for at least a little while longer. THAT is reason enough for literally anything to be in consideration for adaptation.

The One Piece live-action proved that it's always been about execution. Imo One Piece is the hardest of all the major shonen to adapt into live-action because the tone is so specific, and Luffy is harder to adapt than Naruto, Ichigo, Goku, or Natsu. Yet they absolutely knocked it out of the park pulling it off, to the acclaim of both hardcore One Piece fans and the "the anime has 900 episodes so I'm not gonna watch a single one" newcomers alike. We've seen so many failed adaptations because of Business Reasons, not because it can't be done


A person has to be pretty small-minded to actually believe any work of fiction cannot be adapted into another medium imo

Eternum adaptation would be absolutely incredible. Cut the sex and porn bullshit for real and it's the best kids story ever. Would be a great anime too.

Actually, they already did this. Spielberg produced it.

Maybe hiring a few helping hands would be advisable to handle the workload. But I have the feeling that the Dev thinks of this Project as his Baby, and has a hard time delegating even just very mundane Tasks.

Having a bigger team doesn't guarantee a speedier release. Type-Moon has a big ass team and yet it took them 13 years to release the Tsukihime remake. 16 if you count the English release.

There's also the fact that not every dev is willing to build a bigger team because it would be costly not only to pay them but to train them to reach the same level as they are. There's also the issue of finding someone willing AND competent enough to do it, which is a big ask when you consider that your salary is tied to the good will of a bunch of coomers with disposable income. Also, not every dev can work with a big group, with some going indie specifically to get away from the pressure of being in one.

In Cari's case, he's always fine going in it alone, and the only reason he took in the help is because it frees him to work on the render quality a little bit more, not just because he wants to speed things up a bit. The animator being as talented as he is is simply a plus, and the beta testers help him spot errors that he himself might have missed during the course of development. But at the end of the day, he's still technically a one-man team, given the workload he has to do compared to the rest. And that suits him just fine.

I'm okay with updates being once or twice a year, as long as the quality is consistently good, the content is significant enough to sustain for quite a while, and there are regular progress reports affirming that work is still proceeding on schedule.
More frequent can be fine too. What content is contained in the update is infinitely more important than how often it is released.

I've found with stories as captivating as this one, the longer and larger updates tend to be more satisfying. Smaller, more frequent, updates feel as though you're only being given tidbits, and it wouldn't seem as fleshed out as it currently does.
The story is terrific, and if we have to wait a little longer to get the next update to devour more of this engaging content, so be it.
