I'm sorry Annie bros, but I just got to the collector's party with Nova and Annie and this Gemini guy who says he can see visions of the future just pointed right at Annie and said he saw suffocation and death in her future. She's gotta be marked for death after that, given everything else about why we think a girl is gonna die in 0.10. The game tries to play it off like Gemini's just a hack but we know better.

Yeah, it's really a question about Idriel more than the Founder. We know, obviously, that there are other people besides Orion who achieved 100% compatibility; the Founder himself and Thanatos are two examples. So that raises the question then: when the Founder refers to the "others," does he mean that in the context of people who had 100% compatibility, or in the context of people who tried to stop him? Are these two groups one and the same, or different? And when Idriel talks about Orion being "the one," is she referring to him out of a group of people, or out of a spectrum of himself, a series of different iterations who previously failed to free Eternum, and she expected this one to be the one to succeed?

Essentially, my point is that I don't want Orion to be the savior solely because of his birth. If bloodline plays into his powers, I'd rather it be something others share with him. If Thanatos is a descendant of Animal for example, that means there are other qualities beyond just lineage that matter to being the hero. And that's what I'd prefer, narratively. Just not a fan of stories where the hero is the hero because he was born to be the hero.

If I recall correctly I have seen somewhere it's variable to be used but I didn't wanted to spoiler myself and totally forgot about it.

Yeah haha it definitely is meant to refer to the blowjob scene that occurs after, but he does say "I see suffocation... Asphyxia... choking...? Death!" (after saying he sees a kitten, which would be Carolyn who drank the milk for the cookies beforehand). The only sort of death that I could see in the scene was "the little death" aka an orgasm, but beyond that... zilch. Which could well be what he saw. He does only say this if you're on Annie's path, otherwise he sees loneliness and jealousy.

However, whatever he saw, I do think it's plausibly meant to serve as foreshadowing for her death, even if Gemini didn't actually see it. It definitely seems like a line that's meant to hit different when replaying after finishing the game.

Also, while we're on the topic, playing through the game continuously has improved my opinion of our relationship with Annie a lot. I guess maybe the wait between updates doesn't do her any favors, which honestly is still probably an artifact of how she's given less to anchor our feelings onto, unlike the other girls. But I haven't really noticed an issue so far playing through it all at once.

Ok, I just had a tiny brain blast, and I feel a bit daft for not realizing this before. The whole game we keep hearing about the "Immortals" and whatnot, and we basically expect that the Founder is one such Immortal, and we're told that they're in some sort of conflict with Hyril'ar and Calypso.

But in the real world, the Immortals were an actual real thing, and were a feature of the Persian military, and the number one context where one would probably have heard about them is of the Greco-Persian War, where Persia, having a vast empire and a vast military force, tried to conquer the much smaller and much more divided Greece, and ultimately failed.

The Immortals/the Founder being symbolically linked with Persia in the context of their attempted conquest of Greece does make sense to me, given that the scale of Eternum does already come off to me as an empire of sorts. But then why would that symbology then be muddled with the Founder appearing to use Greek aesthetics so consistently, the culture that was ultimately able to hold the real-world Immortals back?

The MC ends up using Greek aesthetics too, like for instance when choosing his nickname the three curated options are Heracles, Eros, and Nobody. "Nobody" is a reference to the Odyssey, where Odysseus (also known as Ulysses) tricks a cyclops by saying his name is Nobody. And well, the canon name of the MC is Orion too. But that makes sense for us, since we're presumably working against the Immortals. Right? Right??

And, another interesting wrinkle, the Greek word for an Immortal is "Athanatos" which yes is just A-Thanatos or "not thanatos" (thanatos meaning death). And that makes sense too, since Thanatos is in some capacity working for William Bardot against the Founder, who is probably one such "Athanatos". But surely all this Greek aesthetic stuff doesn't just come from William Bardot or his faction or whatever. It's not like he would've named the temple of Acheron. Unless he did???

And why even are the Immortals called Immortals? Presumably they don't die or something like that, but the elves in Hyril'ar are also essentially immortal in that way. Do the Immortals have some sort of extra power over life and death, which is found in the temple of Acheron? But it didn't seem like the temple of Acheron was built by the Immortals, since Arranis said it was built by "the ancients" and the elves grant some regard to it. Could these ancients maybe be a common ancestor of sorts of both the elves and the Immortals? The stated powers of the Immortals, that they could pass through Eternum at will, does sound pretty similar to the powers of the line of Anima. Hmm.

Gah, I don't know anymore, man. At this point I kind of feel like the Founder might also be working to end the Immortals, as crazy as that kind of sounds. I don't know how it all fits together, but it feels.. correct. It's what the symbology kind of points to, with him using all the Greek aesthetics.

And if the MC is an Immortal too, I wonder if the Founder and Idriel could somehow be working to the same goal of joining back together the line of the Immortals with the line of the elves/Anima. But then that would make Calypso a required love interest? Hrmmmmm. Maybe the line doesn't have to be "joined" in a genealogical way, but just a friendly way. I don't know.

Or this could all well just be that I'm taking this Persian Immortals thing way too far lol. But I really think there might be something to it. It still really interests me too that Calypso has a Greek name that stands in contrast to all the elven names of Hyril'ar. I was wondering earlier if Calypso could be some kind of "construct" in the same way that the MC/Orion is. Do we ever hear about her mom? All we know is that her father is Raewyn and that she's the last of her line. That's sort of like the MC I guess, where we only really know our dad. It would be kind of funny too, if we initially thought Calypso was created as a Weapon of Atlas, but then became convinced that actually she's a real, organic person, and then it turns out that actually she was created just not quite in the way that we initially thought.

This is definitely a very good game though that it creates such a playground for both brain blasts and penis blasts.

v0.9 hottub branch fix​

there is a MAJOR branching issue in v0.9's winterhouse if you don't play the game full harem/shallow fuckboi:

• for some reason without the harempath var the whole hottub/card game scene is skipped
• afaik the harempath is only sets in v0.8's bermuda triangle (nancy + nova scene)

so this script does 2 distinct things upon leaving the winterhouse when you are not on the harempath:

1. if you haven't played the card game and are either on alex or dalia or nancy or penny path, instead of leaving directly, you'll be redirected to the hottub scene (clean label hijack)
2. if you've had the 3some with dalia and alex, you'll be given an option to open the harempath (unofficial var change but very legit imho)

Of course, this is also a possibility.
But in order to make a game that has never been made before and have a mysterious plot, he will have to connect many myths together.
The game has been made in such a way as to approach even those who get bored of simple sex games relatively easily, and that is what makes it interesting.

you're right its most likely intentional and calling it an issue is debatable, but i still consider it very lame from a game design stand point

The reason for that, as was explained not too far back in the thread, is to minimize necessary branching as the game progresses. Its hard to say exactly how core the harem itself is going to be to the game's plot - whether there'll be some scene later on where being on the harem path provides some mechanical advantage, for example - but it will at the very least matter for the epilogue. Having to make multiple conditional versions of whatever that is based on which girls you did or didn't have the routes for would probably be quite annoying and limit what you can do.

If you're not on the harem path, you'll probably end up with a solo ending for one girl or another. Whether that's the one you have the most points with, or you get to choose manually, or however it plays out, I'm pretty confident the game isn't just gonna default bad end you for not dating every single girl at once. That would be bad design. But, as an example, the harem path would make absolutely no sense if you weren't pursuing Nancy's route, so it's probably just to avoid having to write around every possible combination of girls and make it make sense anyway. It's a perfect end so you need to do it perfectly, and all that jazz.

1.0 will be the final main story update, but it won't be next update. Next update will be 0.10, not 1.0. I believe currently the game is estimated to have 13 total chapters.
