He increases the count if he thinks the update needs it. New World event is likely going to be a long experience considering the locations that were teased in the map. Then there's the fact that we're hitting 2 more servers plus some event/s in the real world. That's a lot of ground to cover.
I mention this because Cari's render output isn't consistent in terms of size. It see-saws between more to less to more again. It doesn't grow bigger and bigger per update, and thinking it would be is just setting yourself up for disappointment in the next one.
Edit: Animation count doesn't tell the full story either as some of those are story/misc animations and don't determine lewd scene count. 0.6 for instance had 4 lewds (4.5 if you count Nova humping Orion at the Collector event) yet it had lesser animations compared to 0.7 which had 3 lewds but greater animation count due to how meaty the new lewd scenes were.

yea but really 1 year waiting is really absurd ! every time i forget all about the story...it's unnervingPatience young padawan, Good things come to those whom wait.
This is why I wish VN's had (skippable) recaps between updates. Some do, which is great, though they're typically at the end of the previous update, not the start of the current one.
For some VNs, however, I just start again and skip through the content I do remember.

Walkthrough says just choose whoever you want so just do that (in my case I picked Dalia's brownies, but you do you).
