VN Ren'Py Eternum [v0.9.4] [Caribdis]

It's kind of funny to hear people say the writing quality has dropped when I'm currently playing the game at a slow pace and watching how Cari had a lot of callbacks and foreshadowing put straight into what everyone is complaining about. For the first 3 updates, the girls are introduced, given a bit of shine, their own moments, and even paired off as a rule of 3 that continues to the most recent updates.

In terms of "character branches", you could choose where to go in Warthog and that's in Update 2 which has you pairing off with Penelope and Luna, one just getting into Eternum, one experienced to help you learn a lot about this particular setting. I'm failing to see what "NSFW options" are tied into a harem. You lose a girl's path, they're not in the harem. You have a few places you can go and options to do but this is always an option:

The game is well written and a fun read. Anyone denying that is just wrong.

Having one true path doesn't make it kinetic considering that there are still choices one can make that can potentially lead to bad ends (like choosing Destruction magic for Penny despite walkthrough saying that we should pick Restoration magic or Annie reseting her level if she dies in the Andromeda date because Orion never had the pendant or taking the Amulet of Blair from the Founder despite the walkthrough and Cari himself repeatedly stating not to take it). VNs like Fate/Stay Night basically have similar "branching" where there is only one "canon" path per route while the rest of the choices lead to alt "good" endings or mostly bad ends that send you to the Taiga Dojo.

The game is turning more and more similar to Once in a Lifetime, plot suffers due to character branches and NSFW options tying into a harem. Original writing has been lost since the wild west server adventure, and even that was milquetoast at best. I know it's now late to add new characters but since we have 3-4 major latches left to conclude the story, we all know it will be fan service for most popular LI picks and nothing else.

I finished on a cliffhanger in November 2023 I believe, ending in Alex's apartment. I picked it up again A few days ago, I believe 2 - 2 1/2 updates since then?

It's a great game, but incredibly disappointing to enjoy something that takes so long to update. On the one hand, want to see more of the game and story, on the other don't want it to end. Will just cycle through all of the stuff I was playing and hope for another drop sooner rather than later.

Depends if you vibe with the style of the game or not. The story and writing are axed on fun, humour, romance and the rules of cool (imo). It will be either fantastic or boring depending on what you like and your personality i guess.

Other than that the game is absolutely stunning, the overall quality of the game is top of the top shelf and the girls are way beyond lovable.
