But regarding Cari, I wouldn't call it neither fear nor greed. It's just his day job, his living income. So he plays by the rules to have the money to live. That's not greed, it's just having a job.

Plus he obviously spends quite some of it on Eternum again, which would likely mean devastating cuts for the remainder of game if he suddenly lost a big chunk of his income. So it's understandable if he's extra careful, even with something like watching family members. Patreon's rage is, at times, triggered quickly and irreversibly.
And let's face it. Even without Carter-combo-meals the remaining updates will hardly get every combination that people would like to see otherwise, so I'll take what I can get, since it will likely be hot anyway

Cari has plans for his next game and wants it funded. Unlike Monk, he uses HS, so can't sell it anywhere legally, while Monk has Steam/Itch/GOG as options. I'd go easy on Cari.

There are other Patreon alternatives like SubscribeStar. Or he could rely purely on donations and word of mouth now that Eternum has created a name for himself.
But I agree, it would be a difficult move to leave the Patreon publisher behind. It might not be financially viable.

Oh, and, to make this related to Eternum so that my question above doesn't get the axe, and also to provide my own thoughts on the second thing you said, I'm not sure how far Caribdis could go without Patreon. I don't mean that in a positive way or negative way. I'm really not sure. If he were to leave Patreon, it's be an enormous gamble, with a 50/50 outcome. It's risky. But it'd also give Caribdis more freedom. Y'know?

Subscribestar does not allow it, they have the same restrictions as Patreon. The reason games can get away with it on Subscribestar is because they don't get big enough to get their attention when those games break Subscribestar's rules. If Caribdis were to move fully to Subscribestar and gain a following there as big as his Patreon following, he'd be unable to make incest content because then he'd get banned. The only way to do it is to give up meaningful revenue.

And that's because it's not their rules, it's rules that the credit card companies tell them to enact because those companies are afraid of the legal liability that comes along with allowing transactions related to sex and won't do business with a site like Patreon or Subscribestar if those sites won't put basic protections in place.

Wonder if Calypso can be brought into the "real" world if thats the case, since she's probably a real person too.

Also, those whispers when Orion meets the Founder are curious. "You have to remember" "Get out" "Don't believe his lies". Spoopy. Also, the Founder created the Gems, Idriel created the Weapons, huh. That bit about sacrificing innocents to save the ones you love is super ominous. Some heavy shit is coming up.

Yeah, the Founder is a real mystery. I hope we get some more answers to who he is in 0.9. Hope we find out more about Idriel, too.

As for the top part of your comment, I somewhat agree, somewhat disagree. While I do take your point, and it is a very good point, two points from the other side of the argument come to mind:
1. Eternum is a porn game. A very good porn game! But still a porn game. So, it'd be counterproductive for it to not deliver on the porn aspect of it, especially in those kinds of moments.
2. I feel like if Caribdis were to instead go with simply giving Orion the option to continue, or to end the scene before any clothes come off, the same criticisms would be given to the moments you're talking about, because it's still Orion getting his dick sucked, y'know?
That's just how I see it, though. I don't imagine everybody agrees.

Love the guy and his work, but there's no way someone who is full time developing, like Caribdis, could afford to drop Patreon, even if he wanted the thrill of telling a big corp to fuck off.

Also, as it turns out, incest is an integral part to the soul of Leaving DNA - not having that moment would compromise the story being told. I'm not sure a Dalia-Penny-Nancy troika is essential to Eternum. It's just a thrill for some pervs - not a hill worth dying on.
