I know about the developer, but are the stories connected?
In Once in a Lifetime, there was Astaroth, in this one Acheron. So I'm wondering if there's a connection, or just references.

No connection. Both are set in the same world that's all. Oialt happened in the past in the same place Kredon. Otherwise the parties have no connection

both stories happen in the same universe, but are not related with each other. Eternum is more of a spiritual successor to OIAL.

not in the same place, OIAL takes place in the UK, Eternum takes place in the USA.

They share the same setting, but OIAL takes place in the town of Mistbury in the UK in 2021, while Eternum takes place in the town of Kredon in Upper West Coast USA in 2034. Other than the fact that this game canonically builds off from the harem ending of OIAL with Stabby Mike being President of the USA, they are not narratively linked so you're not required to play OIAL to understand the story.
