Thanks for the update, but the diversion; Holiday, killed the momentum that you had built, and I think if you and a time machine and could go back you wouldn't have put so much time and energy in to it, and instead you'd have focused on the main story, which up until the diversion was very very good. You're not the first developer to go off on a tangent with a great idea only to realize you'd made a mistake, and you definitely won't be the last, the problem of being a developer is you're like a football manager, "everyone" thinks they know better when the team loses (silent when winning), you know where it went wrong and you'll be better from it.
