On top of which, there are multiple games even recently that wound up getting hit with the Abandoned tag only to have them release a new update shortly afterwards. Some devs that work on larger updates or who work on multiple games at once can easily take a year or so to update (especially the ones who are doing game dev more as a hobby than a job).F95 rules are that if a game (that doesn't have the 'Complete' tag) doesn't receive an update within 13 months (I think, someone please double-check me on that), it automatically receives the 'Abandon' tag. Regardless of on-going development activity.
In other words... Just because someone at F95 slapped the tag on the tread, doesn't mean it's actually abandon.
So while the Abandoned tag is a pretty good indicator that a game is dead, it's not a total guarantee. And devs who remain in relatively active contact with the audience are usually more likely to eventually update than the ones who are mostly non-communicative and then just up and disappear.
