Emma's thoughts about her infidelity: "Patrick's behavior was strange. At first, he seemed to encourage me to experiment and be playful. Then suddenly he pulled back as if he'd changed his mind. It left me confused and unsure. What does he want? What is he trying to achieve? And just when I started to taste the thrill of it, when my fantasies and desires began to unfold, he decided to stop. No it doesn't excuse what happened next. I understand that. But, to be honest, I find myself not feeling guilty. I don't regret it. In fact, I keep mentally returning to that bed with Martin. Remembering every breath, every movement, every touch. And I'm overwhelmed by those feelings."
These thoughts are classic in that they represent what a typical cheating wife thinks. It's always the husband's fault, even when all he was doing was giving her some independence and allowing her to express herself freely by posing in lingerie, etc. Does anyone sympathize with her and blame her husband for pushing her towards corruption? He never explicitly told her to fuck Martin, maybe just tease him a bit. Teasing does not have to lead to adultery. If it happened once and she regretted it, then you can sympathize. But seeing she has no regrets and that she's a repeat offender, one cannot feel any sympathy or empathy towards her. It's obvious she's doing it for the thrill and adventure, seeing how she's always doing it with him when her husband is a few feet away or minutes away. When she has a full day alone when her husband's at work on Saturday, she doesn't go to Martin since there is no threat of being caught and there's no thrill.
Any thoughts on the topic?
