Making mod myself now.

Change character face art to make more consistent across mod. Not sure if should use option 1 or 2 for nose look.

Original is more visible and nice, but i guess your best option is the first one. Is Subdle but i thing is very good. And welcome back! Seriously it's been a while since i saw your last activity. How things and this project are doing?

Project development was very slow:

Was trying to stay close to original artstyle as much as possible originally, so almost only repurposing & heavy manual editing original artworks from anotherstory but run into many many roadblocks: redrawing like that manually is very very time intensive and unfortunately because I also get better at editing with more time works I originally thought were 'ok' are no longer 'good enough' later and make me redo them again.. and again.. and again... and so on.

New approach; AI assisted, make many things possible that not possible for me before.
Ofcourse also are many challenge with AI art assist approach.
  • Still much manual editing, but is OK, progression speed lot better.
  • With old artstyle I think is too big divide between modded scenes and character art. Also character art limited because changing pose and keeping exact old artstyle very very difficult for me. Maybe someone with strong GPU can do with local inpaint but my GPU bad and new GPU very expensive so not realistic for me ='(

TLDR

Old things I make with only manual edit not terrible, but new option so much better conlusion better to scrap and redo.

Writing new scenes, rebalancing game.
Teach self how to 'make' game in RPGMV because scope of project expand from only add scene here and there to making game more 'living'; more npc walking around, npc routine, make earning money harder so now have to be resourceful or find new way to make money. NPC reaction to clothing state of character, clothing option for character, combat rebalance, consequence to losing fight, no more guarantee gameover when lose.

image 3; manual redraw shirt + combine existing asset to put more clothing on image compared to original. 1/2/4 AI assist, some need more manual edit to get 'acceptable' level for me, some less.
