That image tiling can sometimes happen when the image renderer used by RenPy is being stupid... quit the game, restart it while holding the Shift key down. Change renderer at the upper left to the 'Angle...' setting. Press Quit at the bottom and try to restart the game.
See if that does not fix it for you. :>)

Usually it's needs the crystal first, study till your occultism stat is at least 4.

In the latest version, I played the prologue till the shootout to rescue Nina. It's an automatic gameover! Is there a specific way you need to play till that moment in order to win? For example, did I miss opportunities to increase stats, or is it related to a critical choice at some point? Not really keen on replaying with different choices until I can move on... Spoilers needed. Walkthrough would be even better! Cheers

How did you lose there? It's very bad luck, the accuracy of the gangster's are about 20% your's is 50. Also you have more hp.

that shootout is easy to loose if someone didnt raise the skill high enough (the mc will always miss) me personally i always try to get a new skill as high as i can before the game forces me to continue

I picked up a game from Nov 2. Could it be that an update rolled out since, that includes opportunities to raise stats that I didn't play through? It's ok it it's the case, just have to start over (and enable cheats, just in case LOL)

Yeah. I changed the Bandits stat ever since! it's not that hard anymore. the Zombie fight is probably the hardest till now.

Hope I'm not wasting someone's time if I ask about the Communication Crystal. I got taken to Bastet. Then they said, come back and work for her to earn enough for Isobel to get the Crystal. But I can't find Bastet's place anywhere to do that. Any ideas? Thanks!
