Not only you. Other soft creators currently joking about this decision in their social media.I think Unity made a wrong decision
$200k is not a lot i feel like over half of the population would disagree but aight whatever broUnity dropped this knowledge with a grand total of four months warning. And will apply it to games made prior to the change occurring. Also, friendly reminder that $200k is NOT a lot of money anymore depending on where you live. Furthermore, what's to say Unity won't decide a few months after the change that they aren't making the money they desired out of this change, and therefore decide to change the terms again? With little notice too. In one announcement, Unity has calmly stated they're an unreliable business partner, changing the terms of past agreements with no regard for respecting those past agreements. What's to stop them from deciding that it applies to every game made in Unity a few months or a year down the line? It's not worth the risk of that.
i am just now learning that the ceo was originally from EA that explains so much about the situationI just knew it would be all down hill for Unity when I heard their CEO was a former EA executive. I am hearing that Unity may try to charge per game installs later down the line as well (scary stuff).
you should hear some of the audio of this guy talking. There is literally a clip of him talking about how he thinks developers are idiots if they don't put in microtransactions, and talked about the idea of pay walling ammo in shooter games. Dude has no shame.i am just now learning that the ceo was originally from EA that explains so much about the situation

Shareholders dumped their stocks in unity, from what hear. Probably classic insider trading and killing off a company tactic. Like the Gamestop hedgefunds.I just knew it would be all down hill for Unity when I heard their CEO was a former EA executive. Idk if you heard his full plan about the "paywalling ammo" but it is much worse than it sounds. He wanted a microtransaction for EVERY TIME YOU RELOADED. Not once you buy the game, not once per every round, hell, not even once per every life. He wanted a dollar for every reload, no matter the situation. He is pretty much the bottom of the barrel of greedy scumbags and why they thought it would be a good idea to make him a CEO completely baffles me.you should hear some of the audio of this guy talking. irl disney villain lookin assHe's the real life version of the main antagonist from Ready Player One it seems. Like, how can someone be this cartoonishly greedy?
I reckon the damage is already done. I'm seeing so many folks requesting they revert the change, while also saying they will be no longer using Unity going forward. Shoot, even folks who have put years into their game have said they'll port from Unity and not use it. The damage is done. Devs are seeing Unity as an unreliable partner due to the announcement and response they gave afterward trying to clarify.Let's say they go through with these changes. How long do you guys think they'll stay with them before enough negative feedback forces them to walk it back?
You mean before the mega corporations sues the fuck outta them? Good luck winning against Nintendo.Let's say they go through with these changes. How long do you guys think they'll stay with them before enough negative feedback forces them to walk it back?
Yes. Looks like rather than releasing a fix immediately we're going to have to wait for 0.21 and then it'll be playable again.Probably a dumb question but is this still crashing like crazy?
