the art looks original. thats nice. but another fallout game...?
Huh, another Fallout game. Seem's there's quite a lot of these coming out of the woodworks lately.
On one hand, there are quite a few "Fall Out" games. Making this a bit of a "not another one" reaction from me.
I am not mad at all these new Fallout based games, it's about time people started going away from the cliché stuff.
Ok, so could someone kindly direct me to this epic flood of Fallout games that apparently exists somewhere? I collect Fallout-universe erotica like it's wonderglue, but I literally only know of one single, lonesome, solitary other Fallout H-game and that's Vault 69.

Hi, friends.

Bad news.
Our programmer has suckered us all.
That's why we delay the game update.
We do our best to solve the problem and release our game before the end of the year.

Thank you for your understanding!

P.S. If you ever meet this “Unity Guru” — — have no dealings with him!!!
As your task gets more difficult he’ll give you some pieces of whatever it is and refuse to refund advanced payment, other than saying it is all your fault.

I'm going to be kind of honest with you. This will be brutal.

This is pretty atrocious. It's probably just how bad the English translation is, but it's basically the definition of low rent parody porn. It is frankly much worse then any of the other low rent Fallout parody porn games, which is astonishing when you consider just how much more effort went into your game then those others, in terms of elements such as animation and writing.

The problem is the script. It's just bad. Your writer can't write. I'm not just talking about the horid translation. I'm saying that the world building, the set of scenes, and the pacing are all just aweful. The game design is also just bad. It's astonishing how much time and energy is going into such dreck by such seemingly talented people.

You're not wrong, but you're also coming from SoC correct? A game with a painful amount of needless exposition, where characters monologue their backstories, their every motivation, and then awkwardly throw-forward to scenes that you're about to see for yourself.

Isn't it enough to agree that telling interactive stories is hard? Sometimes it's a struggle to formulate a narrative, through inexperience or language barriers, and other times it's a struggle not to blow your proverbial load too soon in the rush to share the narrative you've concocted... I think Fappout could go places, but the biggest thing holding it back in my opinion is Fallout. It's dressed in the clothes, but doesn't share any real attributes... To be a good parody you have to adopt the conventions of what you're parodying, and then carefully select which ones to subvert.

From what I've played of Fappout it doesn't adopt any conventions from Fallout at all. Right out of the gate it's doing its own thing, and so that connection to Fallout is really hurting it... Even the writing, which you were so critical of, seems worse because it's asking to be compared to Fallout's writing and world-building.

I really think this would be a better game if it dropped that pretense, made the setting even darker and bleaker and turned the language barrier into something of a feature; like a distinction between topsiders and underdwellers or something... Hell, leave some bits of it in Russian and make us translate it ourselves with our phones. There's a fun gimmick.

I write side scenes and map events SOC, most of the character work is DM. I happen to like DM and support his work, but I don't write character bits. I have no particular interest in being drawn into a debate about my employer's writing chops. I'm sure you understand.

I agree that writing stories is hard. Sure. Some writing is better then others. But, I'm not saying "This thing here is worse then me and thus it is bad". I am saying "This game fails to meet the standards of quality and coherence that I expect of most porn games". I will agree that the fallout window dressing is a serious problem. However, I actually think it's a symptom of a far larger problem. I'm not sure that Fappout knows what it wants to be about in general. Too much of what I played is directionless and seems written one scene at a time with no thought for overall direction.

Also, perhaps the Russian thing would be an interesting gimmick. That said, this is probably the wrong game for that. When the mode of engagement of your storytelling is eroticism, too much confusion will often times negate the erotic component. Mystery, Adventure, Suspense, Horror, can all be paired with something like a translation gimick. Indeed, isofar as the game wants to lean on those elements, it might improve it's quality isofar as those modes of engagement. But, confusion is the death knell of eroticism.

Also, you need a competent translation before you can even make translation a proper mechanic. Translation as a story or game mechanic requires an ability to translate perfectly (or at least functionally well), and then make choices about that translation. Try selective translation with something you're struggling with already? Well, good fucking luck.

Animation is quite good, art is original (which is good, I am getting tired of renders), atmosphere sounds are nice. The moanings need work, they are reminescent web browser games. An option to click the animation to proceed to the next step of it would be nice, this way you kan skip the content you do not like. The fadeouts are in line with the fallout universe, as is the setting and the interface buttons. The major problem is the writing and the translation. Basically it's a "let's put a fallout setting and drop sex in it", which is sad, since the Fallout universe is full of exciting possibilities. The storyline, even keeping in mind that this is only an introduction chapter is non-existent. It seems to me that the developer creates the setting and then the writer comes up with dialog to fill it. If this is indeed the case it would be better to have the main story written with as much detail as possible and the create the settings based on that. Lack of interaction during the sex action is also lacking. Fast, slow, cum in - cum out... seriously? Dev might want to grab a couple of bottles of is favorite poison and engage in a skull session with his writer as to which direction they wish to go and how to achieve that. I will follow this for a while and see if it picks up.

Overall:

Art: 7/10
Environment effects: 9/10
Sound effects: 5/10
Writing: 2/10
Gui: 7/10

What I really like about FappOut is that it stays close to the Fallout setting/ universe, but takes (non-damaging) liberty where needed. If you've played all of the Fallout games (except part 4 maybe), you are rewarded in recognizing everything in this game.
The characters don't need a lot exposition, or explanations, as their "function" or role regarding the story is clear almost immediately. The game isn't slowed down by unnecessary (filler)text.

Looks like it was updated back in May of this year, which shocking to me especially since I'm pretty sure they marked it abandoned way before that.
