There are years of Japanese h-games before Akabur really started up the western thing and they executed and completed in a more healthy fashion.
You attribute the increase in activity solely to Patreon but the scope of the system that gave rise to the modern day activity in the western h-game space is wider in breadth than that with more factors contributing to it. Awareness, visibility, trust in the software ecosystem (no more virus in every other download), increase in computer use among genpop, increase in computer hardware capabilities, ease of modern-day high-level software development, lower difficulty-bar to generate good-quality art assets, among other things, all have input.
h-stuff used to exist on newgrounds and it got developed and completed. Pornholio is super f old and managed self-contained episodic releases. I recall something called ucogi.
What matters most is not that games are being delayed or that their development is gouging people. The quality suffers because at the forefront of a game's design along with anything else is exploiting the current string-along system.
but also, I don't want to be coming down too hard on FB because I don't mind FB too much

...I was a long time supporter on Patreon, to get the "1080HD extra version"...and anybody can see how much you have to spend to join that Tier. Month after month.
...it´s a pretty amount of money.
...BUT...
...in the end. Is it worth it ?
I decided to leave Patreon after spending more than 300€, because the content I´d got is far away from these numbers.
Don´t get Me wrong. I would like to support some Devs, but for a reasonable pricetag and content, knowing the fact that these games are made by a couple of solo artists and there is not a team behind any game.
I also know that the "Patrons" numbers are just a few...but in the end, even a good and well made game like FB and especialy the devs behind should know that 100 x 5$ is more than 10 x 40$.

I was also a long time supporter on Patreon but only for the 720p. The cost to access the "Extra" version at either $20 or $30 is too prohibitive for a monthly cost but now the Extra version has that much more kink to the content that the 720p is almost redundant. I suggest that maybe it would be worth DM considering releasing the Extra version for his $10 patreons a month after the original release date. That then gives those that can afford it the early release but those who can't but still wish to support him the 720p on the date of release and the Extra version 4 weeks later. It will probably have been pirated by then so it wouldn't make any difference to the income the game generates and may entice people like myself back as a Patreon.

but anyway its usually no big difference in extra or not version. the last big one there i hated DM a lot was with Melanie punishment. in v16 its anal sex with Steve. not so big deal with that scene. in others its only cum in mouth option.
p.s. after Melanies golden shower scene i wrote a lot of text to DM that such big difference with polar scenes in extra or not extra, ruin the game scenario.

Most of the piss scenes are in the Extra only, including the first time Monica is in the basement

Btw if you don`t want to spent 20$ every month, and good with 10$. Just activate it after 2 weeks after release and get 1080 extra. It will be same 20$ to DM in total.
