Well I have to admit that the story is pretty well written. While my opinion on the ranch stands, it does work well as a threat looming over the MC to drive the story... I just wish it was less twisted. So that keeps me playing to see if Monica survives this, and gets to keep any dignity at all. She's being punished in a really grotesque way for some financial crime she didn't even commit. Or maybe that's just the excuse those people are using to do this to her, but then it's weird that people that are this evil would need an excuse at all, instead of just taking her anyway since apparently all this was legal in this world :S
Let me address your first post that i haven't quoted first.
If you are not into blackmail, coercion or humiliation of a female protagonist in a porn game this game will not be for you. I think it's disrespectful to call a game developer sick because he or she doesn't suit your personal taste. So i hope that comment by you was a little tongue in cheek. This game does not represent reality in any way and doesn't claim too. Why can a film like John Wick that is all about brutally killing people, spawn multiple sequels? Why have the writers or director not been universally accused of supporting mass murder?... Well to answer my own question people understand the difference between fantasy and reality. So to answer your original question. No this game doesn't make me angry.
Now to the post I quoted.
This game is to female protagonist porn games that A song Of Ice And Fire was to fantasy book series when it was released.
GRR Martin's series was not only extremely well written but kept breaking many genre conventions at the time. I'm a big fantasy fan and had not read (at that time) any series that the main character due to his mistakes is killed. It then followed up with his son meeting the same fate a couple of books later due to his own mistakes. This was almost unheard of at the time.
Fashion Business like ASOIF breaks many of it's genre's conventions. Most female protagonist porn games follow the path of a sexually naive girl (usually around 18 years of age but not always) who through some unfortunate event is left vulnerable and open to some sexual predator. As we play through the game the protagonist's character changes and begins to enjoy the sexual scenarios. Usually some bad endings pop up with her finishing up a hooker or a druggie or a combination of both.
Fashion Business however takes a different approach. Through the two episodes so far Monica is still the exact same character she was at the beginning of episode 1. She is not going to change for anyone, in her own mind she is the most intelligent and beautiful woman on the planet. The only occasions Monica has changed so far is in the two alternate endings in episode 1. In the first ending by taking every decent choice available, Markus doesn't require her to visit the police station, she is able to go back to her husband and live happily ever after. She is a more humble character here and is left alone. The second ending she is able to convince Dick that she loves him and ends up married to him.
Both these endings in other games would be the good endings at the conclusion of the game. With this game however these are early endings well before the games true end. So what I'm trying to say here is that Monica's only chances of dignity will come from the alternate endings. As the game continues towards the finish line Monica's position will progressively get worse only improving through the early alternate endings(episode 2 will no doubt have more). The true end for Monica will be ranch 218.
