It's strange, I haven't encountered a single crash in six years. On three different computers. Only the animation slowed down in Episode 3. But that was fixed
Nice for you, but I had the same problems in Ep. 2!
Several crashes at some scenes - animations.
- Vicky with Laywer,
- Monica with Steve at the basement pool,
- Monica in School the last "meeting" with teacher,
- Monica in the office with Melanie, and the "girl"
- and maybe one or two more!

Most of the animations worked fine!

What i tried, but I'm not sure what really helped...:

- not save during a scene, animation! Not loading such a saved scene/animation
- Window-Mode all the time - worked sometimes (was also recommended here in the forum)
- Deleting every quick-/auto-save, in the normal game folder AND in the app\user\...\folder, so the "deep-rooted" folder
- a few times just skipping with "ctrl" helped to "jump" over it

often helpful was, but somehow weired:

- NOT skipping, and NOT clicking the scene/animation to fast - let the animation run 30-60 seconds - a few more "cycles"... there were some micro-stutters, but after a longer duration it worked...

My setup:
AMD Ryzen 5800x3d
AMD RX 7900XTX
32 Gig
Win 10 back then!

I had this issue a while back, and I believe it's an issue with the old episodes of the game and the latest versions of Windows 11. I ended playing through the game without issues using Linux.
I am a native nix user, I may give that a go if the issue persists into EP3
Currently, I'm using Windows10 for use

Funny you mention skipping scenes, because intermittently I can get a bit further if I don't skip too.
There also seems to be the factor of how long into a play session, sometimes.
At the Melanie scene nothing I tried remedied the crash, though

Thanks for the suggestion.
/Game/Renpy/FastionBusiness is basically the tree. I may reinstall for experiments sake

For anyone that has experienced game crashes during cutscenes/animations, was it during EP2 exclusively?

There have been 2 further cut-scene options for relations that I can't initiate because it crashes the game.
I 've never encountered this with any other renpy game nor AAA game (Radeon 6600XT)
I watch my hardware during crash and nothing (GPU, RAM, PROC etc) get above 15% usage spike

My fingers are crossed it's an EP2 issue and not indicative of every EP past EP1
Frustrating bc, I like the game

Yes, it's a weired thing.
"intermittently I can get a bit further" had the same experience.
Some also suggested here, save before entering the building (for the office scene with Melanie), I saved so much up to page 70 then! :ROFLMAO:
Total save-overkill...:ROFLMAO:

Maybe you are right with the game-session duration, perhaps deleting the shader cache of your RX6600 helps too!

I was looking for an old save of mine, but nope, sry... have no one this old...
So, maybe some this "workaround" helps, it would be a pity if you are missing all animations...
Ep.3 and above - no more of this issues, no crash at all!

Alright, never mind, I bit the bullet...

Another question: all official android versions are 720p, but some do have extra in description. Do they actually have extra scenes?

And how many times have you sent a bug report to the developer? Because it seems like only you have problems.

Unfortunately, there is no information about the game on Android, so no one is responding.

You are funny!
I searched the thread and read more than one post with this problem!:D
The one who mentioned the window-mode.
The one who mentioned to safe the game before entering the building, getting the scene started, not to save during the scene.
Ah, i forgot the tip not to enter the save menue with right-click (mouse), enter/close it always with "Esc"...
And there is lulu3
And I'm here, too!

So, your theory, nobody has this issues is not on an stable basis...:p;)

And the bug-report: I'm a pirate! I don't go with my pirated warez to the developer and say: "Hey repair the shit I robbed from you!":ROFLMAO:
Yeah, last thing was more like a funny story, or joke - I should have posted it at least here in the thread, you're right.
I try to solve my problems on my own in first sight, and what to say, it worked... all other animations beyond the ones I mentioned worked fine...
But I started a new play-through anyway.
I'm in Ep.2 atm, 4th university visiting has just to kick in, let's see how it works this time, because now I got an nvidia card... maybe, but just maybe, the amd's have this problem more often...
I will drop one or two post on this issue, if I progressed the game further...

Ok, stay sarcastic and grumpy! Like you for that!

By the way, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that the problems were related to the AMD card. My personal experience of many years playing on AMD cards and then Nvidia confirms one simple truth: the former sometimes may outperform the latter in certain areas, but if I want stable gameplay without surprises, I'll go with Nvidia.

This is not an attempt to stir up "holy war Nvidia vs AMD", but merely my own impression as a gamer who has tried out many various PC configurations/video cards since the mid-90s.

AMD GPUs, the hardware itself, are great, the driver support is the problem. I have had AMD cards for years and haven't had any problems with them apart from the bad driver updates that were caused by Adrenaline. BF6, for example, runs more stably on my RX 7700XT than my friend's RTX 3060.

Speaking of driver updates... Tarz, have you tried to use the older version of the driver?

Nope, as I said, the problem "vanished", not all animations caused problems, most of them were fine, mid- to late-game -> no issues.
And I'm now on a Nvidia Card... can't reproduce the problems, sry.

But this could be also a decent work around... ty for reminding!

AMD drivers have had fewer issues than Nvidia drivers in the last few years (Nvidia had serious issues with the 50 series cards and their drivers just recently). AMD drivers bad is a pretty outdated meme at this point. Having used both vendors over the years, I'd say they're actually very similar experiences.

Yes, that's my opinion, too.
I was most of the time on AMD's (better price...), and had never really problems with the technology, only my fans got fucked up, 2-times, but that was more of an MSI issue, and on my side...:D
My last to AMD's 5700XT, 7090XTX were absolutely fine, but games like Tarkov - my buddies with nvidia and dlss...always a tiny, little step ahead, yeah no more words needed, I guess...

I switched a few weeks ago on Nvidia, because of the iRAY-thing for rendering... now I'm starving a few days a week to get the money back in.... DAZ Studio + Nvidia - these bastards, render-mafia!!! - they kicked out AMD pretty harsh...!:ROFLMAO:
Now, I own a nice, pretty decent baby and I have to run two instances of the software..., because this damn company is not able to implement critical, art of the state hardware/drivers in their standard builds..., and the necessary info about the not-support of RTX 50x cards , is buried deep in their forum - what a lousy mess they are - but what they can do very well, is trying to finger-fuck my wallet, and brain-fuck me with their shitty web-shop, greedy mofos!:ROFLMAO:
But that's another story...

Well, I'm too old for the holy wars too - I've been through all this in about 35 years of gaming - all with you: AMD - Nvidia, AMD - Intel.
They have their issues, their sales strategies - overall, they are all the same gangsters and robbers...:cautious: :giggle:

I have noted & will be using all suggestions from everyone. Again, thx all

I do agree that AMD has driver issues on windows and most newer RTX iterations have the superior driver support. However, it's rather reversed in Linux with software. Mesa. Along the lines of why I was recommended to try in play using nix the previous page.

I'm still enjoying the game too

It's so outdated "meme" that their last update is a clusterfuck on most pcs. I had to reinstall the driver manually because after the automatic update I had 3-4 green screen of death. xD But I get what you are trying to say. The difference between the two brands was more significant back then, but now, not really.
