Time for a new one!

I was honestly debating if I should postpone it further, as honestly, last two weeks not much has been done (so since progress 23). Which is a shame, as the 2 weeks prior to this one have been amazing.

But, I did write in the last report that I don't expect much due to the medical situation development, and I was right on the money. Not going to dwell too much, it was annoying, it has been dealt with, some promises were kinda lies, but all is okay. New pills are also great (feeling wise), unlike last which made me have migraine once every 2-3 days. Next appointment (and bureaucratic annoyances) will be mid July

Workwise, 1 week barely anything got done, 2nd week much better. Managed to do what I planned, minus finishing the April Feet challenge, unfortunately. So upper floors are done, new NPCs done, finished remainder of Serena renders, ~170 new renders, finished monthly renders, and only broke Hs2 like twice.

Instead of finishing the April renders, the last 3 days I've spent working on something else instead. Totally randomly, I've seen a Discord's member post (Dark Assassin) with an AMV he has been making for weeks (months). And in it, I saw a possible potential for a work collaboration/commission. As some miiight remember, one of the very few UI related elements still missing is naturally the new main menu animation, but also the Logo animation. I was already prepared for cashing out on Fiverr, and I had a few potential people in mind... But, when I saw the discord users work, I said f it, lets reach out. It was his first time doing this, but I think it worked out well!
I couldn't come up with a new, actual logo for myself at all this year, so instead of having to commission someone to make the logo, then commission another person for animation, and hope both are decent via limited Fiverr dms... I/we opted instead to just use my name and make an animation out of it. Result is below. Also, throughout searching for fonts, I finally stumbled upon one I really like for all main characters ingame, so thats also locked in.

Next two weeks will be mostly back to regular rendering grind. I do plan to send Scooter the more edited Ep4 script so he can proofread, but besides that, renders and more renders. Lets hit 400 in the next report

So I guess March 2026 -> May 2026 → July 2026 Max is the new timeline of release with Ep4 + Ep5 fixed things from prologue to Ep5 ??!!

Aaaaand we back!

As I mentioned in previous patrons only report, at the end of June and early July I had a trip that was planned ages ago, and a wedding to attend. Coupled with the overall fatigue I had, I decided to just take that whole week off with those 2 events/trips taking my time off work anyway. Was definitely a good decision.

But realistically the most important irl, but even overall news I have to share is... Medical results came back, and it's very good! I'm writing this just as I came back from the visit to my specialist.
The new meds, that are now the weakest (unlike the first I got, that were the strongest and caused constant migraines), are doing a great job, and I'm now only ~30% off the value they want me to be at. For reference, I started with ~240% off

This is great news for multiple reasons. Not only do I not feel any drawbacks from taking the meds, but that also means we (doc and I) won't be seeing each other for half a year now! No more constant back and forth, paperwork issues (we actually found out why today, not my fault), and trips there and back that take me 3 hours just in public transport alone. I'm not the best when I have multiple issues going in life at the same time, so finally having this behind me, that started in early January is amazing news. Being relatively young, but also classified as high-risk category and always being surrounded there by much much older people... Felt bad.

That also means that I, finally, am kinda free. Besides dealing with burnout, there is zero major tasks, irl responsibilities or big events I need to attend or plan for at least 3 months, but prob even more than that. I can finally, genuinely, "lock-in" as people say.

Although a lot was going on irl, I did work on the game with "okay" pace. I'm now at ~1270 ep3 renders done, which is a small ~350 jump or so since last one. Not the best jump, but all things irl considered, this time I don't feel burdened with it. I've finished the Raiko challenges stuff and one other new addition, and I'm a day or so away from finishing Koko's night beach section. And speaking of Koko... It looks great. Decided to take it slow here and retried some things, and I am now happy with her renders in the water and things surrounding it. Huge upgrade, and I'll def post some of the images in the patrons sneak peeks coming soon. Did however find a small mistake in ep2 due to wet hair, will see if I retake those 56 renders + 1 animation later.

Besides that, work-wise I did try to learn some new things related to animating, but I'll admit I'm still very lacking and the new knowledge didn't sit with me yet. I also want to learn something related with Blender, but that's for later, maybe when ep3 is about to be rounded up.

So yeah, TLDR, great irl medical news, finally freedom from it, I expect now to finally lock-in again and obviously also go back to by-weekly reports as the speed should increase. There are some challenging bits in the "race" in ep3 hotel coming up, but I can't wait to finally finish this big hotel section and move onto other stuff, soon some big new sections too.

At this point I don't even know how to start reports anymore

Anyway, nothing major to share IRL wise, at least that I am willing to share.
But what I can say, it's deep into summer, and still no ant invasion! Seems that the painful and time consuming preparations are paying off, altho still many months where they could re-appear.

And onto the work, well... A bitter mixed bag.
As I said in previous patrons only report, next on the line was the big MC vs. Falazio running section. I've always wanted to make this section much better than it used to be, and I had big plans for it, many voiced a while ago on Discord. To put in simply, I wanted to animate a lot of the parts there.
Obviously, I am not one of the "big guys" in terms of animating, hell I still think I suck ass in that area. But the me at the time of checking script thought that the "future Kat" will know how to do it. I was already quite cautious and was already ready that the next report might not be in 2 weeks (and it wasn't 2 weeks, it's now 4), but it turned out much worse than I thought.
Well, future Kat became present Kat as he reached this area...

I overestimated what I can do in this section.
The script had FIFTEEN animation slots, just in this part alone. I wanted to animate MC running multiple times, slow-mo shots, crowd cheering, drinking, animated Avis vs. Big Titty top pull, commissioning someone for a post-process work etc. I wanted this section to be more impactful than before. But as soon as I even started to work on it, I realized how impossible it is. Running animation suck ass in hs2, even moreso a "sprinting" one that also needs to look good in slow mo. Also cheering crowd? Vanilla animations move so much, they start clipping almost instantly (same why I do no dance ones).

If it sounds like a burden when reading, it is because it was for me. 2-3 days passed of me trying to find how to make even basic animation set up, I hated all of it and it looked dogshit. I knew this section would be difficult, I even said on Discord this is prob the hardest part remaining till rework done, but it wasn't that I climbed it slowly, I couldn't even move. I was mentally blocked.

So after those couple days of failure, I said let's shift focus and work on something else. Each day if I'd wake up and feel too negative about working on the running section, I'd just do something else Fates related. There is lots of things to work, so I did. And that was actually great!
There were quite a few hs2 related plugins/tools I neglected because I needed time to learn them, so now I finally used that time for them. Finally used Blender for something clothes related, and it works pretty good! Then I also tried to check two hs2 plugins that could also help me with the running related animations. One wind related plugin was underwhelming (but I sent a report to the person making it so hoping for future updates), and the other timeline one took a bit to work but seemed handy. Then I moved further into ep3 testing. Went from line 1300 to 4500, found some more missing renders, even made 4? new animations, one which used the Blender thing I mentioned, and I truly think this might be most of the players fav animation of this whole episode . Bugtested everything till where I reached renders, so half point of ep3.
And as great as this was, 2 weeks were gone, and I did literally everything I could work on the side, only thing not done is sound/music for that first half of ep3. Nothing else, I went through it all.
So, once again, I had to face the mental mountain ahead. And again, 2-3 days went by, I did 2 anims, they were absolute dogshit, and once more I was stuck on how to animate a run well.
However, after seeing how miserable I was, and the mental burden making me start to behave overly negative on Discord too, I decided to let go of the ambitious plans for it. Any animation that I deemed overly complex, or in need of taking me days for this section, I scrapped. And oh boy was the feeling good. Finally felt like something lifted over my shoulders.

Is the section as amazing as I hoped it? No. But is it also some fan favorite, especially with 2 dudes running? Also no (sorry to mc/falazio butt fans).
But now it's almost done, I've just reached the part outside where Koko is about to appear in the distance, and one super small, simple animation remains.
We're now at 1 570 renders for Ep3, and 10 animations (2 dogshit ones).
I can't wait to finally finish this damn party completely, I am tired of putting curtains in my room so I can look better at these dark renders without glossy reflection on screen

Oh and I also worked on something Koko hair related, I'll have to think about it some more before I make a decision, maybe in another report this one is already long as is.

Being paid without having to deliver anything made the dev too comfortable, without pressure there are no results, and with each post of his we see comments like "keep it up", disappointing, he is in no rush to finish the remake, he has already deviated so much from the initial plan for the remake, I think he no longer has a plan.
