I always play as female protagonists because you have better outfit selections and how you look matters more. For the male protagonist their appearance is usually an afterthought.

I prefer the female protagonist. I don't self insert.
In porn games it's just fun to see the transformation from somewhat innocent (not stupid, I hate those) to "hey maybe fucking around is not bad at all". Simple. Though at times it really depends on the way the character is. I will not enjoy it just because it's a female, she has to have something to her other than "this is the girl that gets fucked in this game". Give her proper character development. Also, if she's proper hot (for my taste) then I am completely fine with seeing just the one girl being perverted.
In normal games it depends, it's different there, but if I get to create a character it will always be female because I don't fucking know what's a "good" look for a guy, but I know how a badass, attractive lady could be, so I often make one. Believe it or not, it's not to stare at their ass, no (you can though). I also find it easier to actually care about what happens, especially if the game is open world like Cyberpunk or Fallout, where I get kind of protective of them.

Also this. Despite all the fun we have with bikini armors and skimpy clothes in games, some outfits are actually awesome, and a female in cool clothes is WAY better than one in the skimpy armor.
People always mock this and ignore the amazing outfits some games have. DOA is a good example, there are some obviously perverted choices, and then some really cool ones.
Men usually have the one badass clothes and then... a tuxedo, a tight shirt, some shorts and the ridiculous clothes lol. Some really do try to close this gap, some even having unisex clothes, which is fine, but for the most part, yes, females have more options.
I generally play male, but that is mostly down to my preference for playing Dom characters who corrupt/train female characters. I would absolutely play a Lesbian trainer game.
Well, if I play as a female protagonist, what is the incentive NOT to choose the most depraved option every time? I had this issue recently with a game, Cyberslayers. As a male MC, you have to take it slow, the females reject you if you go too fast, improve stats, etc. But as a female you get "Suck his cock / Reject him". If I want to see the sex scene, why would I ever choose to reject? Why not choose the fastest corruption route and ignore the rest

Not everyone is going to play that way, that's why the options exist.......
Some of us play female characters because we are female and not all of us play corruption games.
I'm a guy coming here for the PORN games. I get it that girls will like female protagonists more, I was wondering about the incentives for the guys to choose the less porn routes - indeed in corruption games

I'm a guy, but I like to play the female protagonist to be able to view things as a female would.. though I prefer not going to the fast corruption route because it gets boring quick.

Depends on the content, the options given to the players and the player's tastes. A corruption connoisseur might want the female MC to fall for the villain, but not get ass-raped by a sewer monster. Also it's not outside the realm of possibility to self-insert (yes, even across sexes) or at least sympathize for the MC and want to avoid some of the nastier content. Or to be selective about it.
