run the game, from the main menu (left side of the screen) choose the 3rd option counting from the top, in the new menu find the option "English".

to the dev, English should be default language.

Yeah, its one of those things I realized almost immediately after I had posted. As you know, when you ask a question out loud, it gives your right brain a chance to answer, and the answer was indeed deafening.
