Well, honestly and soberly, if you get a lot of money for doing “nothing”, why should you do anything?
But joking aside (or not), the tool she's working on is supposed to help her get back into the project in the future because AI will be responsible for dialogs and she won't have to come up with dialogs over and over again with slight variations for slightly different conditions for all characters, which takes a lot of time and is extremely annoying (and it's not exactly simple or very clear in RPG Maker).
I imagine that creating such a tool and then somehow integrating it into RPG Maker is difficult and time-consuming, but only the future will show whether it was worth it or not.
Personally, I don't think it will have any positive effect on this game or lead to faster updates.
