game was already completed few years ago with molestation edition, after that the dev decided to expand the game with an expansion called violence edition, what you are seeing now is the development of said expansion.

Sardines ALWAYS intended to have fully expanded version. He also didn't have a clear clue (still doesnt imo) as to what he ultimately wants the game to be.
His solution was to go "it mostly works now I guess" and slam what is effectively a beta version of his game with the polished basic gameplay loop onto DLsite as "complete" game. The intention was to gather funds and draw attention to the game and then continue the development.

That, uh, kinda didn't go so well — he only barely scraped into the top 10 for the first 24 hours of sale and up to date only sold 3000 copies. Molestation games do ridiculously well on DLsite and these are unironically rookie numbers. This is likely due to the game being, ultimately, very barebones. Half-measures ended up viciously biting Sardines in the ass and the project sort of fell into obscurity as he struggled to fill it with any sort of content for the longest while.


Project support is continuing to drop too.

Well, this tangent aside, this is why the game is marked as completed here — Molestation edition was marketed as completed game and sold as such on DLsite — there is just no culture of early access games on that storefront — and so the "Complete" tag is frankly justified. I personally cant in good faith call what Sardines has been doing for the past three years as "development". Still better than Female Agent, I guess, but thats a low hurdle to pass.

Every time I try to advance the training update I get stuck on day 1, just after choosing to answer him or not. More specifically when one of the three is about to train her. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Just to add: the game soft freezes. She still blinks and I can do close ups on her body but besides that everything stops working.

Edit: Seems to be an incompatibility of the old save state with a new game, starting a new game fixes the problem.

be mindfull that variables might have been changed in the meantime between making that tweaked savegame and the last patch (especialy considering the change to the thugs in the current release). you could try to skip the day to see if stuff is really broken. otherwise start a new game and use saveeditonline.com to make your own save.

it would be awsome if the uploaders actually uploaded the most up to date file instead of making us go through the hoops to patch it as if people want to play an older version lol

I know this has been argued to death already, but to me this is kind of like saying "Deltarune is a complete game because Chapter 1 was released as a full chapter". At least from what I am aware of, there is perhaps no game on this site that is less deserving of the "Complete" tag as Elulu.

Seriously? No game less deserving on this site? Not even the shit ton of shovelware or half assed buggy games and games that never tied its loose ends? I can name a few dozen. Roundscape Adorevia has been "complete" for years and still updates every month or two.

Indeed, but imo roundscape is a bit in a different situation than Elulu, clearly being used as a storefront and marketing device, with it being on steam and all, to keep people interested in the studio (i.e. keep supporter money flowing), while they work on other projects. Unfair to compare because it's a solo dev vs a full team, but Arvus also released several games since then, albeit they are also in a "completed but receive patches", it's still pretty different to the quagmire that is Elulu's development.

the games original inception was about the train, and nothing more. the framework did allow strolling through the entire city, but its rooms were absolutely empty aside from the train & trainstation content. everything else is extra content and no amount of argueing changes that.

While this is to a degree true, I'm pretty sure most people were aware even back then that a significant amount of unused assets still existed post-finalized train mode. Since the game itself was designed and established a scope well beyond the train station from the get-go I think it's fair for the people who trickle into the thread every now and then to consider molestation more of a chapter or two of content than complete game.

That doesn't make sense. That's like saying triple A games with assets that didn't make the cut for the released game aren't fully released games because their original vision had feature we won't ever see. Which is arguably a majority of them. And who came up with the idea that games with a chapter 1 and chapter 2 aren't complete games? If the two parts can sufficiently operate as standalone titles, then I'd argue that part 1 can be considered a complete game. Like MGQ Paradox has 3 parts to it. Does it mean the previous titles are incomplete games since part 3 isn't out yet? No, because Part 1 and 2 are still full games on their own.

Again, MGQ Paradox does the same thing. If I recall correctly, the single link they have up there encompasses all of part 1 and 2 and the demo.

MSQ Part 1 or 2 involve a lot more content than Molestation, though naturally that really doesn't mean anything for a "Complete" game anyway. So, I think the issue is that it's really not at all obvious for someone starting Elulu today (with no prior playing experience) where violence starts and molestation ends. If we're being real, Violence is literally the same game just with content, often more in terms of scripted events than actual assets, largely filling in the previously empty areas that already existed in Molestation (as well as a shift in play style from interactive battler to visual novel).

Aside from sometimes game-breaking bugs occurring from doing "both at once" if you go in blind you may have zero idea that you are playing one version or another, something that doesn't really happen with MGQ Paradox. At least, last I recall; it has been ages since I played the RPGM game. And that, I think, is why some people rag on Elulu's Complete status (myself included at times). It doesn't feel like a completed game because, aside from its glacial development pace, the game itself kind of blurs the lines on "what is complete" and "what isn't" (especially when you think of escalation of actions on Elulu herself).

Not really saying anything needs to be changed about the thread or the tag, just that it's understandable given the circumstances that there are people who look at the tag and scoff on occasion.

MGQ: P has a different scope and production value, so of course it's going to be more polished. They also have an established lore, fanbase, and gameplay elements to draw from. But Molestation definitely has a defined gameplay loop and ending. I went into Molestation before Violence edition even had a playable build and I didn't think it felt like an incomplete game by any means. Would I have liked the game to have more content? Sure, but for a 1400 yen game, it actually has a lot more content than I was expecting for a mostly story-driven game. I don't know what kind of things people were expecting with that price tag other than actual sex, which it regretably does not have, which has nothing to do with whether it's a complete game.

i rather take the current set-up as different seasons in terms of an anime since its based on a showa era magical girl anime.
though, as of now the 3 installments are independent of each other and last i checked its ill advised to do more than one story per save game. might have fixed that in the mean time, maybe.

maybe dev is planing to develop the sex and sex training aspect by thugs further before turning to the other two stories again.
