This HAS to be a money laundering scheme. I refuse to believe this man is getting 800 dollars and not even spending the basic taking 10 seconds to edit out the watermark. Hell flat out taking MQE, and not like obscure series.
someone tell him please, not like it's impossible to reach him

This is just using stolen art.

I mean, people here like games with real porn or shitty deepfakes so I don't see the difference.
If you're gonna freak out then do so evenly.

I share with you the subscriber version 11.2
The subscriber version gives you access to 5 additional quests.
I don't know if he has made another version in the meantime, it dates from February.
I know he's working on a sequel and a prequel.
I have a demo version of the sequel (shaman quest) but not the prequel. I stopped supporting him to Mars

it is advisable to start a new game between version 10.1 and 11.2

Good game ;)

So, there are artists, game devs, and translators who barely get any money for their work, but this dude just does a lazy asset flip and gets $800?
Maybe the writing is really good.
That's what i thought initially, too.
But if the review of the hero who went in and checked this thing for us is any indication, no.
This thing seem to be pure shit from top to bottom, yet they pay him nice dough anyway... o_O:coffee:
Absolutely ridiculous.

This game is overall just lazy, besides, it's done with random watermarked assets from the internet, which doesn't scream creative or inspired to me.
I just can't get how there are so many people investing money monthly into his projects, I might want to consider starting a patreon account... milking patreons for money! lol

hard to blame devs for doing it as they say, a fool and his money are soon departed
its just sad to see authentic artists and devs/creators earn less but then again thats how life works for alot of people

Being honest, this is one of the laziest games I've ever seen. Like, I know that not everyone can draw, but instead of stealing and badly editing art, just commission someone or just try to make art yourself even if the art turns out crappy. I first discovered this game from a Russian youtuber (who is now deleted if im correct) during the pandemic and had the hardest time finding it. The only reason why I kinda liked the game is because it had this strange aesthetic to it and I kinda enjoyed the quests, but everything else is just a massive pile of stolen and poorly edited garbage. The story is another one of those generic RPG chosen hero type stuff and aside from all the sexy stuff, this feels like a game that an 8 year old made.

As an artist, it really pisses me off that people just randomly go and steal people's art. Every graphic in the game just looks badly photoshoped and crusty. There is even one enemy in the game (it's the fairy queen iirc) that isn't even a transparent image. It's a bunch of crusty generic anime fairies on a white background. That is extremely lazy. Although the author credited some of the stuff, everything in the game is completely stolen without the artist's permission. A lot of the music is stolen too, which sucks because I really like VGM and I really like many songs in the game, especially the one that plays in the castle, but it's hard to find the source/original artist of the music when the dev just steals everything and leaves no credit.

Now, if this was just a completely free game, I wouldn't be as pissed, but the fact that the dev made people pay for a "premium" version of this already crappy game is horrible. What's even worse is that this game was originally made by someone (i believe they went by the name "hungryxgirl") but this person took the game (although they had permission) and profited from it. Now, they did have permission to continue it but not to profit off from it. So that was very scummy.

The only reason why I requested it was to 1. make a Japanese translation of it, 2. To obtain the premium version of it, and 3. to remake the game and take out all of the stolen stuff and scat (no offense but I hate that stuff) and to make more of a yuri version of it bc im a bit of a hardcore lesbian. I also want to improve the story and everything else. So to whoever uploaded the paid version, thank you so much. I am very thankful.

The guy picked up a free game that was abandoned and proceeded to make large updates, then add a premium version with additional content. The writing in the original was a bit sloppy and in some cases directly plagiarized, but it's a small niche and it was good enough.
He's also got a full subscriber-only sequel, I think.

This is just low...
Yeah, that was the enemy that I was talking about. By the way, the dev charges $10 for this game. $10 for a shitty stolen jpg that is crustier than an anime body pillow (if you know, you know). I have seen many devs price their games/subscriptions from 1-8 bucks, and yet they are better quality than this piece of garbage. Heck, there are tons of games on Dlsite and other platforms that you can get for under 10 bucks and are more high quality than this.

TL; DR: Game code is somewhat bad; I have no hate towards the creator besides the obvious problems and monetization of a game using taken assets

To add my two cents in as well, the game is rough after so much time. Back when I was younger and certainly shouldn't have been playing adult games, I thought it was good. Nowadays after having to fix small but game breaking errors/bugs in RPGM and having to experience a fraction of the pain translators go through to translate games from this engine, I can say that it's much rough around the edges. I will skip over the asset flip since it's already apparent, but I really need to get this off my chest in terms on how the game is structured.

First of all, the free version (10.1 Standard Version) isn't bad at first glance but then you look at a certain encounter you can have in one of the maps, the centaur. The scene broke at some point, and it irritates me because it used to work, broke, was patched due to me mentioning it and then is currently broken again. If one looked at the event, you would see a glaring weakness, the whole script for before you beat the centaur is copy pasted to the page for when you do beat her, which is also missing the erase picture command, so the picture is stuck there forever. It might seem like a nitpick, but this event just seems to break every time and was annoying to fix every update that came out. Then we have 11.2 (The premium version) ...

Where do I start with this, how about we look at the Centaur events again? The event has a different problem in this version, the second page works fine but the first page is missing the erase picture command when you win the fight against her. The scenes for losing, winning and volunteering all have problems, first the disposal option will cut the scene off early (every other event I looked at for reference had the ending section working fine). Some pictures the scene used to have been no longer coded in anymore and thus you only have one image for the original scenes included in the Standard Version. A nitpick would be the lack of word wrap or failure to make the text fit the boxes, so you lose some context to conversations and scenes due to text getting cut off.

Look I wouldn't be so harsh if it were a simple indie game or something, it's not a big deal when it's a minor bug caused by translation, more often than not its fixed or I learn how to fix it. But this is a game from a creator who gets 800 USD of support, and I believe they have a family but that doesn't excuse just continuing to use art from other people and then monetize a premium version of said game. I understand it's hard to make a game and I could forgive it if you slowly changed the art with commissioned art over time, but the old scenes are more or less the same as I can remember them.

In conclusion this game has issues in parts but at the same time, my bias plays into this opinion, I'm no professional but I am someone who has experience dealing with this stuff. Raiv, if you do ever see this, I have nothing against you personally, but Forest Monster HD was a game based around an old era when taking art was common but also feels dated as a result. Don't force yourself to push out content and focus on delivering a game with quality instead of trying to create as many scenes as possible, the writing isn't bad, but the inconsistences and flaws shine through when you step back.

I'm going to take some time to just cool down, this is a rant I couldn't hold back any longer, anyone is free to correct me or criticize this post, I just didn't want to have this explode on me and by contrast my frustration is insignificant or small scale to real problems or compared to others. Not even fixing the ship capacity error (for me) in the Gacha Pirates translation was this frustrating and it took me an hour and a half to figure that out.

Good night/day and stay safe out there!

Till next time.

Looks like the dev noticed...

I thought that they would be pissed about us uploading their premium stuff and seeing people crap on their game but they don't seem to mine.

To be clear, I don't hate the dev (like wanting them dead or anything like that), I'm just mad at them that they would make people pay 10 bucks for a crappy game full of stolen assets and that they are profiting off of stolen work, which isn't ok imo.

Also, we didn't "add or change" anything about the game when we uploaded it here. The version of the game is the exact same as the premium one that was officially released by Raiv. In order to interact with the tombstones and talk to Jack, you need to find the Miserable Doll. It's something that's been in the original game, we didn't add it. Speaking of which, I'm making a guide for this game.

Gonna play devil's advocate here but...does anybody else think it's ironic that this whole site is about pirating and downloading other people's work for free and most of us are griping about stolen artwork in somebody else's game? That aside do we know if the dev got permission to use the art or no?

None of us are making any money off of those pirated games. I'm pretty sure the f95 staff isn't making any money off of them either. There's a bit of a line between getting art/games/whatever for free, as most of the peeps that do that wouldn't be able to afford it anyway... and using it to make money. It's more dubious than making money off of writing fanfiction, and that's pretty dubious already...

As for getting permission... I have serious doubts of anyone getting KC's permission to make anything like this... But it's really hard to say and even harder to verify. Well, outside of knowing Japanese and poking him on his social media accounts or something with a link to the patreon or whatever and asking him if he knows about it.

I mean...stealing is stealing lol. Also if we go by your logic of which is worse, we'd be worse. A game dev using an artist's free work isn't taking any money from the artist because their art is freely available whether the dev makes a profit or not from its use. Posting someone's paid game here is taking money from the dev, because people are downloading from here rather than from the dev.

Js, it's a super hypocritical to attack this game on that. We're all pirates taking money from devs easily lmao. I think the points about poorly cropped artwork tho are valid. I will say i've played this one before (Not the paid version) and the art and scenes get better the further in you get. That picture of the fairy is the only one i've seen that's like that.
