If I could audibly sigh in text format, I would, because yes, you misunderstood what I was trying to say, and therefore this turned into a back-and-forth which could've easily been avoided if you were slightly more clearer with your wording
Thank you for clarifying what I was trying to understand from you, however
And the ranting doesn't bother me, as long as it's not a diss track
Fair enough on that last bit, and once again, sorry about that whole deal. I probably should not have replied knowing how tired I was, I might've caught my fumble earlier had I just waited until morning.

This game hasnt been updated in a while, can i ask why?
Because you're not looking in the right place. The thread itself will often have the updates much sooner than the main post will. Also, note that the main post HAS been updated, just not for the most recent build. Someone mixed up the dates, but it was properly updated a little over a month ago. (It wouldn't make sense for the release date to be this year and the last update to be last year, now would it?) If you want the most recent build, look up "February" in the thread.

Use italic and go:
sigh
At least that's how I would do it.
I used to be able to go to Zell's blog that's in the OP. But now I get "access forbidden" Did he make his blog private and move to another platform for games/updates? Or is this FC2 enforcing regional/IP access?
They closed it and use almost exclusively nowadays.
Shouldn't the blog be removed from the title post then?

This game is still being updated? It feels ancient by this point,I played it a while ago and liked it but I though it was finished, didnt try to do it 100% tho so I though it was finished.
Should I replay it now or wait for it to be finished? What will that be? Years?

It has new and tougher enemy AI. In my opinion it's worth a shot.

In my opinion, THIS product is dead (as a game), and I’ll now try to explain my reasoning.
The first half of the game is a test of mechanics and new features. The second part (separate) is rich in content (though shorter in duration). It feels like THIS game (or games) serves as a training ground for the developer, where they experiment with new mechanics and see how they work, only to later implement them in proper games. A good example is Succubus Affection, which was released as a fully functional and playable game from start to finish. But this product seems neglected, and the developer will likely never finish it (it’s already been over 5 years). From my perspective, it hasn’t moved forward at all. Recently, when
Karl Speidel asked-what’s new in update, AverageSteve replied- that they’re testing new AI -_-, which only proves that this is a TEST for implementation into a completely new (different) game.
Otherwise, even a simple question arises - why did Succubus Affection come out so quickly (about which little was known), and THIS product still can't reach release and in general it is not clear in % how much work has been done (90%? 50%? 0.000001%? -_- HOW MUCH?). It's worth thinking about.

As confirmation of my words - the author ALREADY let it slip that he is working on Shironoyakata and SuccubusAffection2 and this news is on the dlsite page and he has clearly been working on it for a long time, i.e. another proof of what was said above.
And the question is asked again - is there no time for THIS product? Because it is a TESTING GROUND (I repeat myself already)...

To put it simply—don’t expect THIS to ever reach a full release. Treat it as a tech demo and nothing more, but definitely not as a game.

FOBS seems to be a game made in parallel to his bigger, paid projects - at least that's what his release cadence seems to imply. I don't think your definition of 'dead' makes any sense at all. you're merely predicting that it might be abandoned, or retain its unfinished state - but if he adds 2 or so new enemies every month over the course of a few years - uses it as a testing ground, as you say, we'll have a competent game with tons of content to play through anyways.

And these games will be called Shironoyakata, Shironoyakata2, SuccubusAffection2, SuccubusAffection3 etc. But not this game. :)

The reason why it's separated in two games is because of engine limitations, the old game engine was extremely limiting on what zell could do with his game, at one point it reached a limit on the content which he could add before making the game explode, that's why we have FoBS A and FoBS B it has nothing to do with test of mechanics or anything like that

A good example is Succubus Affection
This is possibly the worst (and only) example as succubus affection had entirely different combat mechanics (or mechanics) than fobs at the time of release, at that time fobs didn't even have 3 combo attack, all you could do was spam the attack button and hope for the best, extremely rudimentary.
Zell paused the development of fobs to work on succubus affection with Ansala (I forgot his name but it's the guy that does most of the work code-wise) to get experience with coding, fast forward a few years, now better equipped with knowledge he decides he wants to go back to his passion project game, but then he realizes the engine he originally chose for the game is again extremely shit, so now you gotta port the game with a new engine, so rather than just port 1:1 of the game to the new engine, he decides it's better to overhaul and rework some mechanics, like making the levels feel more coherent, making combat more satisfying like it was with succubus affection, improving platforming, etc.

I do hope you have the brain matter to realize that these things take a lot time, original fobs also took a bit of time to reach where it reached.

Something you probably don't know is that in Succubus Affection, Shiro no Yakata and probably future projects like Succubus Affection 2, Zell is ONLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ART, and in the case of the first one they (Zell) only made the sprites for the game, there was other artist involved too (probably responsible for the backgrounds and map design). Everything else, with the exception of the soundtrack (made by someone else), was entirely done by Ansala.

And for context their next game, Shiro no Yakata, in being worked on for 4 years, more if you count the time Zell worked in the project alone before Ansala joined.

And in the meantime he reworked some assets for this new FOBS remake, made all the assets for another game now on hiatus (Shiratane Tower), went back to the FOBS remake less than a year ago and is technically only working in this new remake for around 2 years actually.

Now I'm not saying that this project(s) will succeed and be completed, but I'm no doubt Zell is fully dedicated on them as for now, considering their part in the collab project with Ansala is finished and they will only be needed again for when a new project (probably Succubus Affection 2) begins.

Riddle me this, Batman. If this is only to be treated as a tech demo, then how would you explain the meticulous work put into the text riddled throughout the game? Given, you may not have seen it, which is forgivable to some degree since the discovery of it being right there under our noses is relatively new, but why would a tech demo include something as unnecessary as that ON TOP OF a fully functional menu, a map with fast travel, a bunch of unique items, and a whole foot race for shits and giggles? Not to mention the tutorial that's in the works. So I can understand if you're impatient, but assuming that this game will remain a tech demo because other projects are being worked on is like saying someone's not gonna finish their math homework because they're also working on English homework. It's an assumption that's unfair to the person doing the work.

Hm, We shouldnt jump to conclusions.
FOBS A and B where cut in half because engine limitation but it was a full completed game
I think we can call this one the ''Remake'' of the FOBS on a stand alone executable and much more content and revamped content.
Its kinda early to jump to conclusions so lets wait,
its getting constant updates per month
Edit: Just to make my point a bit More clear There are way deader games that came back to life. Maidensnow eve is a game from 2015 that is gonna geta major update

Whatever is the reason im very happy devs are working on future succubus affection 2 or at least they are doing something like this FOBS remake. There is literally thousands of hentai games all over the place but how many is there a good pixel-art platformers, with actually in deph animations, good music, graphics/art? Maybe its a mix of playing one of first Hentai games ever with some weed, but SA playthrough was very magical for me, that chill friendlylike atmosphere with dozen of monster girls, not the worst combat and big map with lots of content, and that small details here and there in H animations, that shit was so good. I was always wondering will anything new like this be even created considering how niche is this genre and how demading it is in coding.
Ok i typed a bit too much. All i want to say is im happy they are working on something, doest really matter for me is it fobs or SA2 or whatever they will name it. This fobs remake so far i only checked like twice, dont want too much spoilers till they "finish it" but quality was high enough to be hyped.
