It was he who made himself comfortable. Not only does he do nothing himself, he also hired a person who makes excuses instead of him. Although the unfortunate $ 200 to a coder from some godforsaken Ukraine could solve all the problems with delays.It's more complicated. Legally, the coder has to decide to hire new people. The artist is just under contract.

No. We're in the endgame though. We have the remainder of Book 4 love route finish as well as an epilogue.
I wouldn't call it "excuses." There has been shit going on that has caused stuff to be delayed. The problem is that Cbob doesn't provide anything to help himself. It's not the artist's (the contracted person) job to provide an excuse when they're not technically the lead on the project.

i have to say i also thought ones in a while that there might just be one person doing the entire game that cashes in everything.
dont get me wrong the artworks are perfect and i would expect the artist to work much slower then he does but renpy writing and coding really isnt that complicated. and the halloween side story proofs that the artist (now) has the same abillitys in terms of writing and coding.
but i think all those entrys he wrote about how the coder wants to implement stupid minigames that slow down the progress proof that there really are 2 people working on it.
I dont want to be too harsh here but as someone who paid some money over a long amount of time to them i really think we should ask "what is the coder bringing to the table here?"
and if you look at the halloween side story and compare it to the main game it seems to be redicolous minigames like crab battles or earth soldier vs fire soldier fights wich are extremely boring unbalanced and grind based.
there can be some minigames in the game like the bartender minigame for example or the card game with ty lee or the spinner game but overall i think puzzles like the one from the latest halloween game are alot more fitting and also engaging while the minigames are just dumb button smashing with minimal engagement.

whoever the coder is he completely lucked out with the artist he got and he really should make more out of it.

I agree, the Halloween story was very smooth in terms of format, in some ways even better than the last regular update (everything in the beginning of Book 4 Love Route is scripted to follow a specific succession of events even though in many situations it doesn't make much sence). In terms of the writing, it had everything regular FET had - humor, accurate behavior of characters, cohesion.

if memory serves, it was like, the coder (cbob) had the idea and whatwasit, called the artist in at a point-zero stage. appears those two "clicked" from start.
if you go along 2 years and more with this certain way of writing, you can create a special like the halloween ones and come up with something alike. me, i see different "roots" in the specials, compared to the main game text.

Josh Spicer Do you think the completed route of route 4 will be released at least before the end of this year though?
I'm not trying to rush, you and others have made a good point that you can't rush these things; if they do rush it, then the game might turn out poorly made, which I'm sure none of us want. However, I'm probably not the only one who checks on here daily to see if there has been another update to the main story after his team finished with the Halloween release.

The love route just started, the end of the year is in 2 months. There's no way to finish it by the end of this year.

That wasn't going to happen even if they were on schedule.
Tentative release date (as given by the artist as a deadline for the coder/writer) is some time this month. Beyond that, we're all in the dark. If that release isn't met than things will probably start changing behind the scenes.
But no, there is no chance of it being done by the end of the year. The end of next year is a hopeful date (at the very latest) but even then that seems like optimism.
Even if the coder had 100% health and creativity, the answer would still be no, less than 2 months until the end of the year, and the fastest update time to date was 1 month.
I foresee at least 5 more updates before moving on to the prologue(being very Very Very optimistic).
Josh Spicer Hmm, so I'll have to wait a year, huh? I see, thanks for the response dude. Based on what was being posted I really thought I would be able to play the completed Book four some time this year.

progress was at 80% almost a month ago but i bet cbob fucked up the build with some stupid shit ass broken minigame again.
From what was said, the problem was writing block and a possible depression, not the boring minigames this time.

Hey all! How you doin? The Halloween build really took it out of me and I needed at least a few days of downtime. Not getting enough sleep is always like playing Russian roulette for me, but worse. There's a fifty/fifty percent change I'll walk around with a headache all day the next day which only clears up in the evening. At that point I feel like having wasted a day and the temptation to go too late to bed again is strong.
Anyway!! A Halloween build can be nice and fun but it's not the real deal, right? It's missing that gravitas a single shot build can't provide. That's at least how it feels to me. It's an in between meals thing to me... a snack. So when's dinner time? After al, most of us will have found the apron, carrots, sharp knife, cauldron and club by now.
Well, I got a message back from cbob and he gave me a date. Not just a date, but a "do or die" kind of date. There have been times I was more confident in cbob's dates. I love the guy, but he's going to have to win back some trust when it comes to his estimations and if he can stick to what he told me it'll be a good move towards that.
I've suggested for him to take a break once the current build is done(or before), even if it's just a short one, but he's been fighting me on that. I think he'd be way more effective if he actually took time to wind down... like officially and more regularly. Because just sitting behind your Mac and trying to work all day can be just as effective as not doing anything at all if you don't have the energy levels to go with it.
He will have to convince me he's doing fine and this month's build will be a part of that or I'll wait with sending him any new drawings/scenes for the next build and basically force him to have some down time.
I don't like being a party pooper but sometimes those are the kind of poopers needed if only to keep on pooping better and more reliably in the future. ...What the fuck did I just write...
Let's wait and see. Maybe my spidey sense is just over reacting and he's going to surprise us all. I'd like that very much! But if tough love is needed I'll provide some.
Btw. I haven't actually given you the exact date which cbob gave me yet and I won't. Even in the best of circumstances he's bad at estimations! However, I will say that cbob's date is around halfway this month. I'd love to be more precise and we've been getting pm's asking us, but I don't wanna jinx it and give cbob a few more days if it turns out his "do or die" date turns out to be "die".
And since my head's still filled with Sokka after creating the Halloween build, I'm going to add a pic of Aang and Katara!

But what will (and have) I been doing in the meantime? Revisiting some of my scenes which are meant for the current build! I thought they were fine, but when looking at them again after working on the Halloween build for a couple of weeks, I was less appreciative of the results. I can't do anything too rigorous because that would mess with cbob's work, but I feel some touch ups are needed.
And that's it for this small update. I'm looking forward to seeing what cbob will have for us all once he's done and ready to show it!
